‘Savages’: SEAL Sniper Chris Kyle Tells O’Reilly His Thoughts on Enemy Iraqis

You, our audience, are probably quite familiar with the military’s deadliest sniper by now. We’ve done two stories on Navy SEAL Chris Kyle, the man who has killed more people as a sniper than anyone else any other American, and who once punched Jesse Venture in a bar. And he’s starting to make the rounds. In fact, he joined Bill O’Reilly in a segment that aired Thursday to explain his thoughts on the enemy. And did you really expect him to hold back? He didn’t.

In his new book, “American Sniper,” Kyle refers to enemy Iraqis as “savages.” He told O’Reilly why:

“The way they live day-to-day as far as the violence they commit on American troops – the beheadings, the rape of innocent villagers and townspeople, just to intimidate them. They live by putting fear into other people’s hearts. Civilized people just don’t act that way.”

“I’m killing them to protect my fellow Americans,” he added, and made it clear that, “It’s not a problem taking out someone who wants your people dead. That’s not a problem at all.”

Kyle also responded to O‘Reilly’s assertion that Kyle “liked” killing people, as well as revealed his biggest regret.

    Kyle for Congress or the Senate, we need men up there that get life and death and the goverments first and foremost job, protecting the people of the United States. Few in Washington seem to get that, they are too busy building their portfolio

      I wonder though if I’ll be called a savage when I am standing between him and my family being carted off under the Nation Detention Provision, NDAA? Hopefully he is on the right side of the Constitutional threat, namely those that would give orders to round up Patriots!

    Why a guy who has this job would put himself in the public eye like this is beyond understanding. He places himself and his family at great risk. God Bless him for his skill and record of service. I just can’t help but to think this is more than a bit foolhardy.

      Oreilly comes off as some liberal douche in the interview……Asking this Hero “ SO YOU ACTUALLY ENJOYED KILLING 150 PEOPLE” he asked the same question is a couple different ways through-out the interview. What a piece of trash Oreilly is becoming. I think he‘s spent too much time with liberals and it’s rubbing off on the old man.

      Because he’s now a glorified killer as we have become in love with militarism, mass murder, torture and war.a lucky arrogant sociopath who found his niche [alan west is another one].Hopefully these wars will end,muslims here will be protected and he’ll be left holding the bag [reliveing standing on a rooftop shooting at people like they were ducks!].God bless his victims and the iraqi people.

    Ventura has long misrepresented his military service. He was never an active duty SEAL but rather a UDT and when he served there was a big difference … most importantly most UDT’s saw no Viet Nam service including Ventura who was forced to admit that a few years ago… Jesse had telling everyone including Howard Stern about what a bad-ass he was in Viet Nam. Jesse deserved “to get served” for making that comment… and as out-of-shape as he is he was lucky to get away with just a smack down. People are entitled to espouse an opinion however they must accept responsibility for espousing it. In short Jesse has proved himself to be an absolute ass.

    I am a believer that all people are born good. Then you are shown how to hate. That is what I believe happens to the Iraqis. They are taught how to hate, how to instill fear and how to control. And you are shown this under the quise of religion (Allah commands it. It’s in the Koran). It is a way of living that just doesn’t catch on in this country and I would bet it has been happening in Iraq for hundreds of years.

      I think all people are born as savages and you have to be taught to be good. Look around at all those who are raised with minimal supervision and see what savages they are. Left to their own devices humans will invariably regress to savage more quickly than nobel. Look at any inner city in the US where liberal/progressives have destroyed the family/school dynamic and replaced it with a permissive anything goes rule…..Just sayin’

    Let’s be clear. He wasn’t killing noncombatants. Every bullet he sent reduced the odds of an allied casualty, and there are family members of the good guys that should be thanking God for this cat.

      He stated earlier he was free to shoot anybody left in Fallujah. He never said if they carried weapons or not, he said he was authorized by the Iraqi president and that they were all bad. I wonder how many unarmed people he shot? If he is smart he will never say, because that would be a war crime. He doesn’t sound as if he was too thoughtful and discriminating in his target choices.

    When a person joins the “Seals, Marines, (infantry), Army, which ever, they are willingly, knowingly, training to die or kill, to avoid injury or death. They are defending the lives of their fellow country men and the citizens of whatever county they are defending..They are hero’s, it’s simple as that.

    My parents are Muslim and I can say not all Muslims act like this. But there are people who want to control or hurt people through religion. It is just so much more easy because of the tribal people in these Islamic countries. I hate to admit this but it is true. Even though I can agree Chris, we can never truly help the people of these countries.

    Thank God that there are people in this great country like Chief Kyle that are willing to put themselves in harms way for others and are also willing to live with the nightmares of those 160 engagements to keep the rest of our soldiers safe. I thank you.

      You apparently didn’t comprehend the interview in its entirity. He clarified who he thought were savages. It was the ones committing violence on innocent Iraqis and his fellow Americans, and his only regret was not being able to save all of them. (this includes the innocent Iraqis) He also said war sucked. You’re hearing only want you want to hear out of the interview. I suggest you go back and watch it again. Genocide is not the answer, I’m sure the good Chief would agree.

    Kyle has the same philosophy as the late Marine Corps sniper Carlos Hathcock. Up until Kyle, Hathcock held the record for the most sniper kills in our history. And Hathcock did it for the same reason, to save Marines lives. No doubt Kyle trained at the Marine Corps Air Station Miramar. There is one difference between the two that needs to be distinguished, Hathcock did not enjoy killing the enemy. He found it a necessity, but he did not get any enjoyment out of it. Also, Hathcock like Kyle had a $30,000 reward on his head, now that was a LOT of money in the late 60′s!
    If you can still find it, I suggest you read “One Shot, One Kill” by Charles Sasser. It’s an excellent read and gives you a pretty good insight into the mind of a sniper in Vietnam.

      You are dead bang on. Most military members have a love/hate relationship with snipers. Snipers kill differently than others. It is one thing to be in a fire fight. It is another thing to know that a person out there has selected “you” among all others to kill. If you have ever been in an AO where an enemy sniper is hunting you will understand the fear. On the flip side, if there is a US sniper operating overwatch in your AO, you are very grateful.

      This Navy Chief killed 160 people who were in the AO trying to kill Americans. That is a good thing.

      One shot one kill great read, but Carlos had way more kills than he was credited for. He was a Lone Wolf at times because he was that good. May Carlos rest in peace and may Kyle have a very successful life and. book.

    After watching him last night and the way he described this “Jesse Moment” I gotta question if he really ran before the Cops got him or did he run before Jesse shook it off and got his hands on him. After all someone DID make the decision he was more valuable as a soldier from far away than in someones face for a reason. lol

      He ran because he was a coward. Afraid of the police he admitted were there or of Ventura or both.

      Did anyone notice when O’Reilly asked it he suffered from post traumatic stress disorder from killing all those people, the guy answered none of his problems were from killing people. Well, we definitely KNOW the guy has mental problems because he admitted it plus he acted weird and was a coward for running away after punching someone.

    O’Reilly tried to make a big deal out of the fact that Kyle killed so many people. Like, have you no conscience? The fact is, that Kyle was saving who knows how many lives from those roving murderers. They kill men, women and children. Not to mention his fellow soldiers. Kyle justifies it rightly, IMO, that he saved lives that had worth. It’s like Kyle said, “war is hell”.
