‘Family Company’ Billionaire Charged With Graphic, Repeated Sexual Assault of Child

Family Company Billionaire Charged With Graphic, Repeated Sexual Assault of Child

Curt Johnson (R) in court.

RACINE, Wis. (The Blaze/AP) — A billionaire executive whose family has run SC Johnson for five generations was charged Thursday with having sexual contact with a now 15-year-old girl over the course of several years.

Samuel Curtis Johnson III, who goes by Curt, faces a count of repeated sexual assault of a child. The charge carries a maximum penalty of 40 years in prison and a $100,000 fine.

Johnson, 55, is the former chairman of Sturtevant-based Diversey Inc., a cleaning-products company that was spun off from SC Johnson in the late 1990s. Privately held SC Johnson makes household products including Pledge, Glade, Windex and Ziploc.

Johnson resigned from Diversey’s board in February and was taking a leave of absence for personal reasons, the company said at the time.

Diversey spokesman John Matthews told The Associated Press on Thursday that Johnson had retired effective the end of March and that his leave of absence immediately removed him from any role with the company. Johnson was replaced by his sister.

The criminal complaint accuses Johnson of having inappropriate sexual contact with the girl 15 to 20 times, starting in the summer after she finished sixth grade. The girl told investigators that Johnson exposed himself, fondled her under her clothes and kissed her breasts and elsewhere.

The girl’s voice cracked and she began to cry as she described Johnson as having a “sex addiction” and “touching problem,” according to the partially redacted complaint.

Prosecutors said the girl confided about the abuse to her mother, who confronted Johnson. He allegedly admitted to fondling the girl’s breasts and repeatedly apologized for his behavior.

Johnson’s cash bail was set at $500,000. Messages left with both of Johnson’s lawyers were not immediately returned.

Family spokesman Harlan Loeb said Johnson is married with three children.

“Obviously this is a personal matter for Curt,” Loeb said. “Allegations of this nature are always deeply disturbing. The family is distraught and very much hopes for the best for everyone involved.”

Johnson’s brother, Fisk, is the chairman and chief executive of SC Johnson, based in Racine.

In an email to SC Johnson staff on Thursday, Fisk explained the family is upset while also offering support for his brother:

“The nature of allegations of this type is always appalling. And our family is distraught. This is an ongoing investigation. I fully respect the process and can only hope for the best for everyone involved.

“Unfortunately, no family is immune from crises.

“I love my brother and the news of these claims has been very devastating. I would very much appreciate your understanding as I do what I can to support Curt and his family.”

Referencing the company’s accounts, The Daily Mail says Curt earned $8.2million in 2010 through his salary and stock options. It also says he ranked 595 in the Forbes Billionaire List with a value of $2.2billion.

The write up states that she told her mother…Well, where in the HELL was her mother & father? Why was she left alone with him at all? He is a monster, but the parents should also be held to some questioning for allowing her to be alone with him. What is the relationship between the child’s parents and him that lead to them even meeting?

Did I miss it or did it not say where or how he had access to this girl? Where were her parents? If he is guilty I hope they punish him to the fullest extent of the law, the prisoners will take care of the rest if the put him in the gereral population. He will have his own seperate area though those with money usually do.If it follows the way they normally sentence them they will also give him time off for good behavior. Since there is no cure for this I cannot believe they would ever put him on the streets again but that is generally what happens.I hope the child can get the needed counseling and learn to cope with this. I know what I think the appropriate sentence would be but they won’t allow that.

I’m not a mental health professional, but from statements by convicted pedophiles. They all believe what they do is not wrong or abusive, but are “acts of love”. They say they would “never hurt a child” and “ love children”. To them their pedophilia is how they express their love for children. They were all probably abused as children, twisting their basic ideals and definition of love. It‘s usually so deep in their psyche’s that they cannot be cured or reformed. It‘s sad and our criminal justice system doesn’t deal with it accordingly. It’s also a visious cycle of abuse– the abused becomes the abuser.

Stats show priests less likely in general, per capita, of having problems with kids than the average person. In fact, highest rate of child molesting comes from blacks (who lean towards being Democrats) and next highest is latinos (who lean towards being Democrats). The biggest factor, per capita, tends to be the poorer you are, the more likely you are. However, there are pedophiles in all financial groups.

      @annonomus
that used to be true, and in many instances still is….
however, we have more factors in our progressive society that now need to be considered, for instance, some research shows that many rapists had mothers who dressed provocatively during their teens years (the boy, not the mom), the boys become aroused by their mom, it causes much confusion, guilt and shame for the boy and can lead to a big problem with sexual identity at a very vulnerable time in the boys development
easy accessibility to porn is also a factor now
none a good excuse of course, but factors to consider
also, I am willing to bet that even though the girl said he touched, kissed and exposed, more than that happened and she may or may not ever admit to it, sounds silly I know and I don’t totally understand, but you would be surprised how many abuses continue because of the shame involved in the girl actually telling
don’t believe me? while working in a safe house I met a 14 yr who had been being abused by her step dad for years, mom found out, turned him in and got the children away and in the safe house. the girl admitted to him touching and exposing but flat out denied any more, more than once. He on the other hand admitted to much more in the end. Another part of my job at that time was to do presentations in area schools about date rape, date rape drugs, the criminal sexual conduct laws in my state etc. A young teenage girl I knew very well, was friends with her family, had know her since she was born, etc.. she knew me and trusted me, BUT come to find out several years later, that she had been being abused by her brother-in-law for several years and she never told UNTIL the family began to suspect that her niece (the mans step-daughter) may be being abused because of her behavior, it was at that time she told and come to find out, he had indeed been abusing his step-daughter as well (she was only 4 at the time). I asked her why she did not feel she could have told me when I went to her class (not in front of the class of course, I always made sure they knew how to contact me in confidence) and she told me that she almost did, really really wanted too, but was number one afraid of him and number two embarrassed and full of shame. Happens all the time, pervert get away with it because they threaten and shame their victims into silence.

Let’s tar and feather him, ride him out on a rail, hang him, put him in prison for life…………we don’t need no “Innocent until proven guilty”, we can convict him based on a news article.

How many 15 year olds do you know who use the phrase “sex addiction” ??

AH HELL, it doesn’t matter, he’s guilty.

What a bunch of socialistic morons !!!!!!

Mr. Billionaire”s family knew about this for years. They have always had bank to cover it up. Monopoly families always have a sick streak. Money makes people funny.
