Scarborough Agrees With Beck: If ‘Big Government’ Newt is Nominee, I‘d Take ’Long Look’ at Paul

Glenn Beck grabbed people’s attention recently when he said that if Newt Gingrich wins the 2012 GOP presidential nomination, he would consider voting for Ron Paul. Some laughed. Some got angry. But on his radio show on Tuesday, Beck reiterated that Gingrich is such a “progressive” that he makes Ron Paul look enticing (despite Paul’s “dangerous” foreign policy stance). And guess who agrees: MSNBC host and former GOP Congressman Joe Scarborough.
On his TV show Tuesday morning, Scarborough said that despite his differences with Beck in the past, he thinks Beck is right on this.
“Glenn Beck said something that I guarantee you a lot of small-government conservatives, like me, have thought,” he explained. “And that is, if I have to choose between Barack Obama and Newt Gingrich, a guy that George Will said would have been a marvelous Marxist and who is the opposite of being a small-government conservative, if Ron Paul’s running as a third-party candidate, I’m going to give him a long look.”
“Because I can’t vote for the two guys who worship at the altar of big government in their own separate ways,” he added.
Here’s the video via Newsbusters:
Newsbusters also has the transcript:
I want to bring up Glenn Beck really quickly. I bash Glenn Beck when he says really inflammatory statements. But Glenn Beck last week had Newt on. And he asked Newt the type of questions that conservatives need answers to.
Then yesterday, Glenn Beck said something that I guarantee you a lot of small-government conservatives, like me, have thought. And that is, if I have to choose between Barack Obama and Newt Gingrich, a guy that George Will said would have been a marvelous Marxist and who is the opposite of being a small-government conservative, if Ron Paul’s running as a third-party candidate, I’m going to give him a long look. Because I can’t vote for the two guys who worship at the altar of big government in their own separate ways. And that’s the problem with a Newt Gingrich candidacy, Andy: he’s not a small-government conservative.

Newt appeared in a PSA with Nancy Pelosi, paid for by the Alliance for Climate Protection, which was founded by Al Gore. In that PSA, he said things like: “We do agree, our country must take action to address climate change,“ and ”if enough of us demand action from our leaders, we can spark the innovation we need.”
Newt was a big supporter of mandated health insurance long before Obamacare was passed.
Newt has accepted hefty consulting fees from mortgage giant Freddie Mac. Is he hypocritical? Freddie Mac is a cancer on society. Newt received $30,000-a-month from Freddie Mac until September 2008 when the U.S. Treasury took control of the government-sponsored entity.
House Ethics Committee special counsel recommended that Newt be reprimanded by the full House and pay a $300,000 fine for violating House rules in 1997. The first time in the House’s 208-year history it has disciplined a speaker for ethical wrongdoing. He broke rules by failing to ensure that financing for two projects would not violate federal tax law and by giving the House ethics committee false information.
You ran from Herman Cain for this? Cain is more conservative than Newt can dream about. Matter of fact, I would rather see Romney the RINO than Newt the Amphibian.

Report Post »I don’t see, and have never seen, Beck endorsing Paul. What Beck said in regards to Paul is to show how liberal Newt is. It’s an indictment on Newt. Not an endorsement for Paul.
Of coarse Palistinians will take it as an endorsement. They will take anything they can get, even if it’s false.

How about this idea AGAIN .. take your money and your resources Mr. Beck and compile information from each candidate of where they stand on issues. I REALLY DON“T WANT TO KNOW WHO YOU PREFER AND WHO YOU DON”T GLENN BECK .. What I would like to know is where each candidate stands, in writing, on key issues such as, The Constitution Agenda 21, China, Iran, Unions, Obamacare. What is there plan of attack to fix this Country. How will they bring manufacturing back to this Country? And on.
The more you warn us about Newt Gingrich, frankly, the more I like him.

I have been doing my homework on the candidates for almost 2 years. I am involved. I am passionate and I care about where our Country is at and where we need to get to.
I know where I stand on each Candidate. I know who I’m voting for.
My point is about Glenn Beck using his resourses to sway voters to the extent of saying he’d vote for Ron Paul, someone he has never even wanted on his show. lol. That is hypocritical to say the least. Mostly, it’s just fuel for the Liberals because you know what they think about Glenn.
The majority of Voters do not research Candidates. They do not know where they stand on the issues, pressing or not. Most have never heard of Agenda 21 and on. Most people that I know ask someone else who they should vote for.
So please save you ridiculous diatribe for someone that might find you amusing.
Again, my point (so you might get it too) is that with the resouces at his fingertips, Glenn Beck could easily better help those without he time and passion to learn about candidates to see who best represents their ideas and beliefs.

Instead of telling Isreal what we think they should or should not do, Paul say’s let isreal make their own decisions on protecting their Nation and stand behind their decision. How is that anti-Isreal?? We do not need to police the world with troops and trillions of dollars that is causing our Nation to fall economically when we have subs all over the oceans that could strike anywhere within a half hour and unmanned drones that travel 8X the speed of sound and can strike anywhere in the world within one hour. Do not think Paul is weak on Natl defense, he will just do things by the Constitution and get Congress involved to declare war. That is the only way to ensure that the people, who are supposed to be in charge, approve of the war. If there is no time to get Congess’ approval in time, do not think he will not react. He will and then he will get Congress’ approval to continue. The Constitution!!! Paul is the only one who will do things according to the Constitution. Are you against our Constitution?? Howdy! I hope you are doing well! I am quite pleased to see so many coming around to Ron Paul. Everyday more and more I talk to I hear the name Ron Paul.
I’m not sure Glenn is for Paul but is realizing Ron Paul is the best candidate running. Honestly, Glenn and Ron Paul don’t disagree on anything really. Not even foreign policy. Glenn doesn’t realize it but most of their policies are the same.
Glenn doesn’t support foreign aid, even to Israel as Glenn believes like David Ben-Gurion: Self Reliance and Independence. Same as Ron Paul. Glenn believes like BiBi that friends don’t try to tell other Nations what to do. Same as Ron Paul.
Glenn understands Progressive want to rule over the world, even Israel, and is the reasoning for “spreading democracy thru financial and military means”.
Glenn is for bringing all the troops home just like Ron.
Glenn is not for policing the world just like Ron.
Glenn is not for the UN like Ron.
The only disagreement between Ron and Glenn is Glenn wants to wage war on Iran and Ron is not going to beat the drums for war. I do believe if Congress brought the evidence for war against Iran Ron would wage a war to win it but Ron is not a promoter of war, but of peace. Isnt that how a leader of a country should be? I think so.
If one goes thru all the different policy views, Ron and Glenn align on 99% and the few they disagree on is simply a matter of leadership.
Stay safe!

That’s not really a fair argument to make. Ron Paul is a Congressman. Congressmen have votes that they cast and bills they can present, but none of their ideas have a prayer of coming to pass if they don’t have the support of their peers. Congress is full of such anti-Constitutional shmucks that it should come as no surprise if he has been somewhat ineffectual. Ron Paul has said RECENTLY that 9/11 was our fault, he agrees with Van Jones as fellow 9/11 truther and he agrees with Barack Obama that Israel is at fault for most of the problems in the Middle East. He also blamed the 1992 Rodney King riots on “welfare recipient negroes who haven’t got their checks yet”. I like his small gonernment ideas for the economy and his unique stance on reparations, but that’s about it.

Liberals and libertarians have a lot of common ground as far as protection of individual civil liberties and minimal involvement in war. I agree with both of these stances.

Posted on December 13, 2011 at 2:45pmRon Paul is the most conservative when it comes to fiscal and constitutional topics. Once you get into Social Conservatism you start to see when his beliefs about an individual’s liberty reject the social conservative stance. In a sense of liberty, you could say that what is considered Social Conservatism actually is more like Social Statism, where “Conservatives” use the power of government to enforce their social beliefs on others. See, in any other issue I probably would get 100% agreement, but socially we’ve been trained to fit in and see those who are different as doing something wrong, so we try to make them do what we consider right. However, doing that is infringing upon their individual liberty.

What’s being pointed out by Beck and by Scarborough is that both parties have been infiltrated for years by progressives. The plan was laid out by Carroll Quigley in Tragedy & Hope. It’s not complex, and it’s not a conspiracy. We have fallen asleep at the wheel and the progressives have taken advantage of every situation and crisis (even creating more than a few) to further their agenda.

Posted on December 13, 2011 at 2:09pmThe reason is simple. If we go over the cliff with the GOP driving, the Marxists will blame small government and the free market and say, “See it failed!” It would be much better to vote third party, and let Obama destroy us, that way we still have the possibility of being rebuilt as our founders envisioned, as it will then be clear, that Obama/Marxism is the cause of our current problems. Unfortunately, the American people are idiots, and the only way they will see how Marxist this land has become, is for that ideology to be at the helm, when the economy disintegrates. If Gingrich is at the helm (he won’t change anything) then his “party” will get the blame, that unfortunately is the state of intelligence of the American people.

Posted on December 13, 2011 at 2:43pmPaul is Insane? Name calling does not constitute facts. How about some evidence? Oh, and before you point out his “dangerous stance on foreign policy”, do a little more homework. You might realize how much power the Iranian president actually has (very little). Also consider that Iran already has chemical WMD’s that could have been used on Israel a long time ago. So if Iran desires to wipe Israel off the map, they could actually do it today. The foreign policy points are just MSM fear-mongering. Is Iran dangerous? YES, but not suicidal. Lets calm down and think here.
As for his social libertarian views, wake up; he DOES NOT want your kids on drugs, it’s about states rights. He wants drug policy to be decided by the states, not the federal government. For example: If the Federal Government made Drugs legal today, it does not mean your state will or will have to follow. What it would do however, is free up states to decide exactly how to deal with drug addiction. It would also put the cartels out of business. This is far better than today’s draconian civil war on drug addicts commonly referred to as the War on Drugs (which has failed). Besides, most conservatives want states rights anyway, look what happened in AZ when they passed SB1070. You are either for states rights or not, you don’t get to pick and choose to match your particular your ideology.
So if small government, sound money, individual liberty and states rights are crazy, then yes, Ron Paul is truly in

WE WILL NOT SUPPORT ANOTHER FAKE!!!! Ron Paul is getting our vote. So either vote with us or get another 4 with Obama and let the whole thing burn. This is our last chance. We have three choices:
1. Ron Paul – turns this crap storm around and we go though a controlled bankruptcy.
2. Obama – we continue the same polices and more than likely speed up the crash ensuring there are no survivors and afterwards we have total domination by the federal govt.
or
3. Gingrich/Romney – for the most part the same plan with minor changes and we keep on the same track as Obama has us on. The end results are the same.

Posted on December 13, 2011 at 2:06pmFair enough, let me respond to your concerns:
1. The world is not honest and assuming they are and will do the right thing is dangerous.
I agree, there are a lot of punks in the world, but it’s up to Congress, not the president, to declare war per the Constitution. They’ve ignored their JOB for far too long allowing the presidents to do it for them.
2. trying to stop missiles is hard if you let them lob 10,000 at a time because we do not need to restrict anything.
I don’t understand your concern here. But if we were attacked by someone, much as RP supported going after OBL, he would support going after those attackers harshly, but again, with a Congressional declaration (or letters of marque for terrorists likely)
3. Drug policy- I agree with semi legalization but seriously, Heroine, cocaine, X, Acid all legal?
He leaves this policy up to the states. Most states still make those other drugs illegal, nothing would really change for those drugs. And if it WERE legal, would you start using them? Probably not right? Neither would most Americans. Those who do take responsibility for their poor choices, per the Constitution and RP’s position.
OK I am Independent leaning but true Libertarians are too close to Anarchy when you get down to nuts and bolts..

Well lets not go overboard here. 10000 missiles? Iran is having a hard time making one. They are very expensive.
We are broke, the warmongering is about to end one way or another. Either we come home on our terms or they come home because they are out of food, supplies, and missiles ( since they are expensive and dont grow on trees).
Drug legalization would be done by the states. Basically, the federal govt would quit waging war trying to stop drugs. State laws would go back into effect. If in Mississippi, no drugs are legal, well guess what Mississippi doesnt want drugs. Where as Georgia may say pot is legal. Its basically just letting the states govern themselves as it was intended.
I hate to say it but if you believe we should be invading countries without declarations of war, running up massive debt, and the federal govt telling states what to do then you are not a libertarian.

3. – If Heroin were legal would you become an addict yourself? If the answer is no then why can’t you trust other people to also make the right decision? Personal responsibility!
