Scarborough for Senate? GOP Courts MSNBC Host for Fla. Race

Republicans in Washington are reportedly working to recruit MSNBC host Joe Scarborough to challenge Sen. Bill Nelson, D-Fla., in a 2012 Senate showdown.

The Hill reports:

Sen. John Cornyn (Texas), who heads the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC), told The Hill on Thursday that he has talked to Scarborough a couple times about a Senate bid. And he indicated he’s still working on persuading the MSNBC host to run for the upper chamber.

“I’d be delighted to talk to him a third time,” Cornyn said. …

Cornyn noted on Thursday that Scarborough’s name ID is higher now than it was back then. Scarborough has been with MSNBC for the past eight years, initially hosting “Scarborough Country” and now “Morning Joe.”

Scarborough is happy with what he is doing, Cornyn stressed. But Cornyn also made it clear that he thinks there is a chance Scarborough could run.

There has been speculation that Scarborough may launch a 2012 presidential bid or be a vice presidential candidate. Scarborough, a former House member, has not ruled out running for another political office. He will turn 48 next month.

Scarborough has not yet weighed in on the speculation over a possible political future.  Meanwhile, state Senate President Mike Haridopolos is launched a campaign for the Republican nomination, but has been weighed down by early ethics violation charges.

Other possible Republican candidates include former Sen. George LeMieux, Reps. Connie Mack and Vern Buchanan and former state House Majority Leader Adam Hasner. Former Gov. Jeb Bush (R) has also been mentioned.

The incumbent, Sen. Nelson, is facing an uphill reelection battle as his polling popularity has dipped below the 50 percent threshold.

The GOP will be looking to pick up a number of seats as Democrats try to defend 23 seats next year compared to just 10 up for grabs under Republican control.

Scarborough would be a unique pick to run for Florida’s Senate seat after conservative and tea party favorite Marco Rubio sprinted to victory last fall.  In contrast, Scarborough has been a vocal critic of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, in addition to popular conservative radio hosts Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck.

Sen. John Cornyn (Texas) is a RINO and needs to go. He is one of the reasons we never give to the RNC or the RNSC anymore. What a joke. These establishment Republicans are like leeches, they just won’t let go, they are as addicted to power as the Dems. We can not move forward as the party of something different than Democrat lite until they are gone.

Joe Scarborough is Bill Nelson with a ‘R’ behind his name … IF you can survive on CNN you would be at the very least a RINO … at the very worst a dyed in the wool socialist… neither which are desirable, or needed for this Nation. The only GOP that courts Joe is the Country Club (Rockefeller) establishment who, instead of being the ‘loyal opposition’ party are the party of compromise. (i.e. can’t we just get along).

First rule of governance: IF the Press likes them, go elsewhere for your candidate.

You have got to be kidding me!!! Obviously, the RINO’s in the GOP/NRSCC have learned NOTHING from the November 2010 elections. Either that, or they are sharing the same mind-altering drugs as Charlie Sheen. Excuse me for a minute as I shred the request for a donation to the Republican Party I received in the mail yesterday.

The NRSCC is a bunch of lying whores. They asked me for money and I told them that I couldn’t trust them because they work to get RINOs elected. They told me that’s not true, that they don’t endorse candidates. Huh? Cornyn promised to support Arlen Specter just before Arlen Specter switched the label on his party affiliation. (I say label because he was always a democrat.) Specter’s available, Sen. Cornyn, you tool! You might consult with your buddy Rahm about making sure that he is eligible in Florida. If you can get RINO scum Tom Davis out of Virgina to work with Specter in Florida I would appreciate it. …and turn the lights out at the NRSCC as you leave is in shambles. THANKS.

Florida voters are smarter than the RINOs give them credit to be. Jeb Bush was a great Governor ( I lived in Florida throughout his tenure as Governor ). Jeb brought TORT reform to the Sunshine State even though the MSM was crying foul throughout the entire process. The fact is that Jeb’s reforms fixed an atrocious system that was killing people by the thousands because massive numbers of malpractice lawsuits ran all of the best Docs out of the State and the quacks were killing people like lab rats. Jeb‘s reforms brought the good docs back and Florida’s medical system showed immediate improvement. Jeb’s recent meeting with little barry does concern me though. But Jeb’s record as Governor is top-notch and it would be difficult for anyone to beat him in a Senatoral election in Florida. If I know Jeb, based on his actions, his meeting with little barry was a political ploy to convince the RINOS that he is willing to play ball with them. You have to keep in mind that Florida has two major leftist areas in Miami-Dade and Tallahassee. Both of these areas are in 2 totally different areas of the State so much that they are in different time zones. Jeb’s meeting with little barry could very well be because he was taking this fact into consideration. All of that being said, I truely think that the State of Florida Tea Partiers will produce another conservative candidate similar to Marco Rubio to run for that Senate seat.

Yes we will. WE are working on it as I speak. Jeb is not Senate material. He has done a few things that are questionable. Meeting with barry is a big disappointment. In central florida we don’t think he is senate material. WE need new people that will actually listen to their voters.

Joe Scarborough for President?!?!?! There is no way in hell i would ever vote for this ( hell i cant even bear to call him a RINO ). Maybe he should make up a party to platform of his own because I dont even think the independents will even give him 1% of 1%. Hell Rush Limbaugh would get more votes than Joe and he draws the vote line down the middle. Limbaugh would get 50-60% of the Conservative vote and close to 30% of independents. Joe would have to number somewhere like 40% of all likely independent voters would vote for him to even make it close. Save your money JOE!!! stay with the commies at MSNBC at least the checks dont bounce.

So far all they have mentioned are RINO’s … LeMieux .. might be the least RINO of the lot .. and I wasn’t thrilled with having him as my Senator a lot of the time .. when I met him this week I introduced myself and said that he should have gotten a lot of my emails .. he smiled and said he hoped that “he” had responded to them. He is pretty good on fiscal stuff but not on ILLEGALS. Sounds like another lesser of evils election. Jeb Bush was with Obama this week .. he didn’t HUG him but pretty close and we know how well that turned out for Crist!

Lets see — LeMieux who did have the seat that Charlie Crist wanted and Rubio won (the other FL Senate seat) is considering a run (he said so at a luncheon I was at Wednesday) this seat. Also Jeb Bush has been on the local radio stations and even participated at a Townhall event on Marco Island about a week ago … and was “hanging out” with Obama this week .. I think he is considering a run for the seat also … might be getting VERY interesting regarding this run .. almost as “fun” as seeing Charlie Crist lose his bid last year! Add in Morning Joe …. I already have my FIRE BILL NELSON bumper sticker .. but can‘t say I am thrilled with any of these RINO’s who may run.

However, the only one listed in this article worth voting for is former Senator George LeMieux. He was appointed, by Gov. Crist (FL) to fill the seat of retired Sen. Florida does not need to replace Nelson with a Rhino! I agree that Nelson is an idiot with socialistic ideas and needs to be run out of office. His support and fight for high speed rail is indicative of his lack of business sense! He sees $2 billion on the table and rushes to get his hands on it, even though it would be a project sure to require massive subsidies in the future. All he sees is the money Obama‘s administration is offering that the nation can’t really afford to spend! We need a proven conservative to be our next senator. Rubio is already proving his worth and we need another senator like him to help get this country headed toward a sound fiscal footing. Morning Joe, while a better choice than Nelson, is not the man we need! We need an Allen West type for senator.
