MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough had some tough words this morning for Michele Bachmann, the state of Iowa, and anyone who believes that the congresswoman has a fighting chance at “winning anything.” Watch his comments, below:

While discussing his take on last night’s GOP debate, the “Morning Joe” host spouted off, unleashing several attacks on the GOP Rep. and calling her a “joke” several times and in many different ways and also targeting Iowans who are thinking of voting for her. NewsBusters has the transcript:

Michele Bachmann’s first answer, Mark Halperin, was “I wish the federal government had defaulted.” Had defaulted, a week after Americans had lost–some of them perhaps lost half of their pensions. Lost half of their 401(k)s, when trillions of dollars went down the drain [pounds the table] with Americans suffering, she said that and got applause, and if anybody thinks that guys like my dad are going to be voting that way when this rolls out of Iowa and New Hampshire and South Carolina, in the early stages, and really gets going, they are out of their mind and they are too stupid not only to prognosticate, they are too stupid to run Slurpee machines in Des Moines. I’ll let you go now. I got it off my chest.Michele Bachmann is a joke. She is a joke. And now I will pass it on to you. Her answer is a joke, her candidacy is a joke, and anybody that sits here and says she has any chance of winning anything is out of their mind. Take your straw poll, take your caucus, but Iowa, if you let her win, you prove your irrelevance once again.

Scarborough’s comments are stark contrast to his reaction to Bachmann after the first GOP debate. Back then he defended her from attackers and said she looked “in command:”

Michele Bachmann is a real person and did a great job in the debate.
Sarah Palin is a real person and I will back her whatever she chooses to do or not do.

  Wish Bachmann would have been a little more direct with the “submissive wife” comment. Glad that she is “Proud of her husband”, but any spouse married for any period of time can state that claim. It takes a lot to put up with one another. In order for me to vote for a women, I needed to hear something a little more substantial than that. Especially if she is making the claim so freely. She needs a new make-up person too.

When someone can look in the camera and tell you “I wish we would have defaulted” what other brain farts are in there just waiting to come out. “I just wish they would try a nuclear attack on the US” or “I will dissolve social security and Medicare and use the money to pay down the debt”. That is what she wants! These are “entitlements”, this OUR money.   Please direct us to the videos that you have based your questionable allegations on, or we will assume that you are just another hysterical liar attempting to rationalize your dependence on the taxpayer.
  Oh by the way, in the mid 1990s the General Accounting Office reported that that, adjusting for inflation, the average social security recipient was receiving three times as much money as the recipient had paid in. Apparently it was not really their money. In my opinion, if it is not their money, they are not entitled to it, although they might receive it as a benevolence.

  I agree, AND I understand WHY she voted against raising the debt ceiling! It wasn’t at all about “defaulting” on the debt. The money was THERE to make the current “payment.” But, with revenues declining and no “future” of them increasing to keep up with the spending, due to the set back in the economy, instead of asking for a raise in the debt ceiling they should ALL, (even Obama) worked on ways to REDUCE spending in the appropriate areas. NOT by cutting Social Security or Medicare, but, cutting out agencies used more for the purpose of “dictating” rules and regulations than going through the Legislative Branch (that is the voice of the people).
  
  AND, another way for government to cut spending is to do the patriotic thing and CUT their own salaries by at least 25% and cut out the, high dollar insurance benefits/retirement plans we taxpayers are paying for.
  
  STOP ADDING programs and bills; stimulus bill, Obamacare and using agencies to rewrite regulations to include policies like those that were in the “Cap and Trade” and the “Dream Act” Bills that didn’t pass “muster” with the Legislative Branch!
  
  Bachman SEES through the rhetoric that causes even MORE government spending and she aims to STOP it. But…….as with the MSM, mostly owned by leftists, they will bash anyone who dares to tell the truth.

  I use to like Joe…and try to support him…but it has become completely impossible..and this is the last straw for sure….If anyone saw their show this morning…Mica and the little guy were dancing….the last 10 minutes or so of the show….and even Joe looked like he couldn’t believe the big mistake he has made to align himself with MSNBC and let these people completely make his show not Fair and Balanced…but so left winged that he has no audience…only the same old people everyday..and Mica ‘s big mouth….he needs to get serious and try and get some respect back for being so stupid….very disappointed..I bet his Mother would like to wash his mouth out with soap…and slap his ears…

These Liberal morons on the left want specificity from the Right, yet they never require Democrats to supply the same. Chris Matthews, for example, is so in lust with Obama. He can never come up with a reason to question Obama’s motives. Has he ever interviewed Obama? If he ever does, Obama should beware. Most of the cuts ageed on don’t take effect until 2017, and the ‘12’ aren’t going to get anything done. Now the latest is that the ECB, FED, French President Sarkozi, German Chancellor Merkel are putting some deal together to settle the markets. While the Congress and President Obama vacation. I have a small business,,,, with 4 employees.. I am a Contractor, because my taxes and medical obligations arose It has caused me to #1 lay off 2 people….#2 Charge more money to the customer….
# recieve less jobs due to the economy….And when ” Gas, Wages , Insurance goes up…its the little guys who has to pay more for my ”Double Quarter Pounder w/ Cheese…

Just demonize the one you fear the most and hope it works. Call them names but please make your case on their proposed policies. The Left is so good when it comes to this. Label Label Label negativity on anything they disagree with but never really answer the issues and ideas they bring to the table. If they do address the issues and ideas its in the same manner, dismiss, dumb, how foolish, where did they go to school, who does this person think they are, must be a: racist, homophobe, sexist, zenophobe, islamophobe, redneck. Also as Governor Romney put into place liberal State judges in New Hampshire. If Bachmann wins the nominee she will highlight the failings of the Obama administration.   If I’m not mistaken, “LBJ” (also a Dem) was the first one to start the raising of the debt, not by legislating, but by “tapping into” Social Security, a mistake that both parties seem to be unable to stop doing, since.

  Joe is a Conservative Republican! Now that’s a joke. Why doesn’t he just move to the Democratic Party and call it a day! I am a Conservative Republican and he does not represent what I stand for, not one bit.

I watched the debate in it’s etirety and not once did I ever hear the rubbish that she wanted america to default. These dummies are too stupid to realize that she was correct not to raise the debt ceiling. This country is on the the express line to disaster. In my opinion 3 things must be done before any other measures are taken

flat tax
loved paul’s comment that illegal immigrants should receive zilch, nadda, nothing
term limits

Bachman’s honesty is refreshing considering what we have endured with these libs

amazingly enough some people actually have the idea that it is better to suffer now, painful as it may be, and fix things so our children aren’t saddled with the brunt of the suffering later…yeah it’s gonna hurt but if we wanted to avoid the pain we should have woken up and stopped the spending a long time ago.

Don’t you feel like the laughing stock of the cable industry? I’d be ashamed to be on a program and channel that was so lame. So who is the bigger joke around here, Joe? Tell the truth now.   @I.Gaspar… Agree… it’s so easy to attack from the bench. Nobody running for a presidential election should be insulted and called “a joke”. How tactless. We could look at both sides and start throwing “a joke” rocks. I feel that all of these candidates are doing a very courageous act, and I cannot believe Scarborough could mow them over with such blanketed and insulting words. Classless. I do not believe that Bachmann will get my vote, but she deserves the right to be taken seriously as everyone else does. To be honest, I am not able to watch Morning Joe for more than 30 seconds anymore.
