Scathing New Ad Capitalizes on Rep. Ryan‘s ’Fading Obama Posters’ Remark

Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) on Wednesday took the stage of the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Fla., to make an impassioned and powerful case against the Obama administration.

And although there were many notable lines and fiery indictments, perhaps the most memorable moment occurred when Rep. Ryan addressed the nation’s unemployed college graduates.

“President Obama is the kind of politician who puts promises on the record, and then calls that the record. But we are four years into this presidency. The issue is not the economy as Barack Obama inherited it, not the economy as he envisions it, but this economy as we are living it,” said Rep. Ryan.

“College graduates should not have to live out their 20’s in their childhood bedrooms, staring up at fading Obama posters and wondering when they can move out and get going with life,” he added.

Barely 24 hours after making these remarks, the Super PAC “Crossroads Generation” released an ad that plays off the Wisconsin congressman’s “faded poster” imagery:

“Youth unemployment remains high, with 18-24 year olds facing unemployment over 15%,” the ad’s YouTube page reads.

“In a poll conducted by Crossroads Generation of 800 registered voters aged 18-29, only 22% said that they thought Obama had put into place policies that have made it easier for young people to find jobs. We can do better,” the page adds.

Here’s the original quote from Rep. Ryan:

JROOK – 4 years ago John McCain decided to use public campaign funds as permitted in the campaign finance reforms laws. BHO said he would abide by the same limits until he found out that his corporate fat cats, unions and other donors could raise almost $700 million dollars for him. I doubt Swampy was legitimately saying that The Blaze is funded by George Soros. More likely he misunderstood or did not actually read the article. As I said below: if the objective was to reassure me that Ryan is a fiscal conservative and can help the economy… it failed spectacularly. Every defense made him sound like Obama-lite. Almost every one could be summarized as “Well, yes, but… Obama’s a bit worse!”

But why should a candidates truthfulness actually mean anything. Its not like being a person of high character or honest is more important than ideology. Oh please speak to Ryan’s lie and spare me the ideological name calling, school yard “the other side lies too” and other childish responses. I Like who we are, I dont care who doesnt. Obama sees his reflection more, in the occupiers, people who believe they “cant” thats why his clarion call was “yes we can”, and women whose idea of health, only applies to that which is going on between their knees! The problem is that we are paying the price for his incompetence. Dirty harry said it best…”when ya can’t do the job you have to be let go”. Ryan is a smart guy who has good ideas. Ryan has the new blood eagerness that compliments the steady strong experience of Romney. What did obama have? He had no experience in anything except getting a whole bunch of people pissed off at what the government wasn’t doing for or giving them. And Biden…….well I’ll let good ole Joe just speak for himself. The sad part is that after 4 years obama his still shown no sign of learning from what he has done wrong. (I mean he makes it worse, obviously) It is the function of huge massive government and a Fed that is out of control and political pressures on the dollar and regulatory burdens upon business.

He won’t have the political will to do what is necessary. He‘s a RINO for Pete’s sake, he thinks government is the solution. It will suck and government will get bigger and he‘ll be gone in one term and you’re right…there will be another poster.

Ever run a business? I doubt it. Businesses can’t pay employees more than they bring in. In fact in order to stay in business, many businesses HAVE to pay out 10% of revenues in wages or less. When you raise minimum wage, you actually force many businesses to reduce their workforce or face going under. I’m fond of salary plus commission/bonus pay plans. That way if the person fails to produce, they have to find another job or starve. No need to fire them, simply tell them that if they want to make more money, they need to produce more or they can quit. Them quitting saves a LOT of paperwork.

Because of overhead, employee compensation can only be a percentage of a company’s revenues. I hate to think about how many employee hours I had to eliminate as a Foot Locker manager every time the minimum wage went up. If these new college grads are so worthwhile as employees, they can always start their own business. Unfortunately, just because you have a college degree doesn‘t mean it’s worth the paper it’s printed on. Exactly how many English, French, Russian or German Literature degrees does a company need on the payroll? Criminal Justice degrees might get you on as a police officer. Women’s and any of the ethnic studies degrees are equally worthless. Physics, Biology, Chemistry and Engineering degrees will help you find jobs. At least as long as the government can be convinced to stop handing out work visas in those fields like beads at Mardi Gras.

That was a pretty awesome quote. My approval of Paul Ryan definitely grew from that.

Unfortunately, the rest of his speech quickly brought me down again (see the “fact-checking the fact-checkers article from yesterday). As I said then, “If this was supposed to reassure me that Ryan is a fiscal conservative with good ideas to help our economy, it failed. When even your defenders‘ best arguments are ’Well, he’s not quite as bad as Obama,‘ I’m not too impressed. With defenders like that, who needs Democrats?”

      @Wianno

“Do your homework. and stop listening to BIASED fact checkers feed you soundbite facts..”

Just to verify, you’re calling The Blaze biased, right? I don’t know how else to take your comment, unless you didn’t read the article in question (in which case, why would you comment in the first place?)

The article I referred to was this site’s “defense” of Ryan’s remarks. As said: if the objective was to reassure me that Ryan is a fiscal conservative and can help the economy… it failed spectacularly. Every defense made him sound like Obama-lite. Almost every one could be summarized as “Well, yes, but… Obama’s a bit worse!”

The fact checkers were proven wrong. The liberals will go to any length to discredit Romney & Ryan. Do your own fact checking to be on the safe side.
