Scathing New Romney Ad Hits Obama‘s ’Character’ Over Super PAC Spot: ‘The Tragedy of a Woman’s Death for Political Gain’

The Mitt Romney campaign on Friday released a scathing new ad hitting President Barack Obama over the controversial super PAC ad that implies the GOP candidate is responsible for the death of a man’s wife.

“What does it say about a president’s character when his campaign tries to use the tragedy of a woman’s death for political gain?” the ad states.

The spot in question was released this week by the pro-Obama “Priorities USA” and features a steelworker who was laid off by Bain Capital saying he lost his health insurance and couldn‘t pay for his wife’s cancer treatment. It later emerged that Joe Soptic’s wife died five years after he lost his job, and that she had had her own health insurance.

“What does it say about a president’s character when he had his campaign raise money for the ad then stood by as his top aides were caught lying about it?” the ad continues.

The Obama campaign initially claimed they knew nothing of what happened to Soptic’s wife, but later acknowledged he had actually appeared in one of their own ads and that he had told his story on a conference call.

The Romney ad concludes: “Doesn’t America deserve better than a president who will say or do anything to stay in power?”

It was good, but just didn’t go far enough. He lies, call him out on each lie. Many Americans see Obama’s ads and believe them. Unless you tell them the truth, they will not know. Put on the boxing gloves and start fighting harder. Hit them where it hurts, with the truth.

      Hey, Romney supporters!

Here‘s the free market answer to the Obama ad’s claim that laying off workers leaves people without health care: If government didn’t intervene in the economy in the first place (like Obamacare and Romneycare does), then the free market would allow people to compete for business, which would result in lower prices.

So it was actually government intervention that priced health care out of that lady’s reach.

Tah dah! What’s wrong with you Romney supporters? Don’t you believe in the free market?

Ron Paul does, and even defended your boy for the restructuring he did at Bain.

Jon Huntsman Sr., longtime Romney backer, calls on him to release tax returns
      By Greg Sargent
The internet is alive with speculation that the secret source Harry Reid claims to have on Mitt Romney’s tax returns is Utah industrialist Jon Huntsman Sr. He is the founder of Hunstman Corporation and the father of the former GOP presidential candidate — and the speculation is based on the fact that his profile fits with much of what we publicly know about Reid’s presumed confidante.

But I just got off the phone with Huntsman, and he confirmed to me that he is not Reid’s source.

However, in a move that could be significant, Huntsman forcefully called on Romney to release his tax returns. This matters, because Huntsman is a longtime backer of Romney — he has long been close to Romney; he supported his early campaigns; he was the national finance chairman of Romney’s 2008 presidential campaign; and he has raised a lot of money for him over the years. (He backed his own son in the latest GOP primary.)

“I feel very badly that Mitt won’t release his taxes and won’t be fair with the American people,” Huntsman told me. In a reference to Romney’s father, who pioneered the release of returns as a presidential candidate, Huntsman said: “I loved George. He always said, pay your taxes for at least 10 or 12 years.”

“Mr. Romney ought to square with the American people and release his taxes like any other candidate,” Huntsman said. “I’ve supported Mi

A Doctors Labor, Your post shows who is totally honest and of good moral character. Ron Paul is not against defending his opponent, like some. He is the most honest candidate we have ever had, and people just toss him aside. It seems that people just like to be lied toby candidates and they do not learn their lessons from the past. Everything you want to know about the present day, cand be found in history.
The thing that bothers me the most is the fact that the RNC, establishment GOP leadership and Romney’s campaign committed federal crimes in the primary. That SHOULD bother everyone, but most seem to want to turn a blind eye to corruption.

WSJ reader comments giving FACTS ABOUT MITTENS, ON THE TARGET, and this is so true and will influence independents and undecideds:——————- Romney is not even, he is about 9% point behind when it comes to the national polls. Unfortunately, Romney is turning out to be a typical, genteel, liberal, Northeast Country Club Republican who can’t fight down and dirty. He has always allowed his lawyers to do that in the past. He seems “disconected” with his campaign. Right in the midlle of the campaign he takes off for the UK, Israel and Poland instead of spending time in the toss up States. While he is away, he allows the MSM to portray him as a bungler and the Obama campaign to paint him as a felon, a tax cheat and a hearthless businessman who cares more about making money than peoples lives. What is his response? Well, the Country is still waiting. Now that he is down in the polls, with only about 4 swings States (in 2 of which Obama is leading) remaining and 88 days left to the election, he is erroneously hoping that his VP selection will close the gap.

Unsuccessful guv would make terrible prez; knows nothing about foreign policy and with bolton advising him never will.

But he needs to go on the ATTACK, not just defend himself. Lord knows he has enough material on barry. Why not start with his admitting to using drugs – enthusiastically? He has enough material from barry’s”Dreams..Father” audio to make barry look like the arse he truly is! I am really praying that the Romney campaign is just waiting until after the RNC to go at mr.prez with both guns. If he doesn’t, well then maybe he doesnt deserve to win.Sorry but he needs to be willing to “strap on a pair” in order to save this country.

Encinom, Romney is waiting for Obama to broach the subject of tax returns during the debates. While even the Democrats cannot deny that Romney has complied with all legal requirements including his financial disclosures, this is sure to be asked by a moderator or Obama himself. When this does Romney will answer with “Mr. President, I will offer ALL of my tax records for full audit on the very same day that you release your college transcripts from Occidental, and Harvard which must include the financial statements of who paid for your education and how you applied for aid.”

I’m pretty sure this will end the discussion. I’m all for full disclosure, how about you Encinom? (Note I didn’t even bring up Obamas Connecticut issued Social Security number or his illusive Hawaiian Birth Certificate.)

Especially the American citizens he suspects of terrorism. Or how Obama is arming is arming Al Queda (again) to destabilize countries in the Middle East. Hit him hard on the individual mandate and how he now says it’s a tax. Or how he’s training troups to police Americans against posse comitatus. The war in Africa and Yemen most Americans don’t have a clue about. His push for the Small Arms treaty that thankfully stalled in the UN. His whacky religion (Reverend Write and Black Liberation theology) The perverts at the TSA groping kids and elderly women while letting the Arabs go through unmolested because we wouldn’t want to hurt their feelings. The voters that I associate with want you to stand in front of the camera and point your finger to the screen and tell the Obama crowd that they are liars and that you will not tolerate any more lies. We want a tough President that stands for something. Is not afraid to get mad and will call out liars. If you continue to try to dance around being polite and politically correct your are doomed to failure just as sure as McCain went down without so much as a freakin whimper. Stand up and be courageous. We the people are waiting and we are expecting you to get STRONG. You will not, not, not, win unless you stand up and be willing to FIGHT. We want and deserve a fighter!!!!

Agreed ! The American people want to see someone with “balls” for a change. Like most on this forum I have looked into Mr. Romney’s history and see a man of character, morals, integrity and the real desire to do the right and fair thing. He was given a leg up with his upbringing and education… so what! He has spent his life working hard and even gave away his legacy to truly make it on his own. You can hardly get more American than that. However it’s getting time to fight fire with fire… call a liar a liar, a sneak a sneak, a socialist a socialist. It’s OK to come out swinging.
I wanted to share a link to contrast the difference between Mitt and Barack. http://kimoquixote.blogspot.com/

      Investors Business Daily Editorial: http://news.investors.com/article/621683/201208091834/obama-columbia-years-remain-secret.htm?p=full
Was Barack Obama A Foreign Exchange Student?
Transparency: A former classmate has added a tantalizing question to the mysteries surrounding Barack Obama’s college years. Perhaps the GOP nominee, whose tax records are demanded, should call the president’s bluff.
Not many students whose grades supposedly were good enough to get into Harvard Law School can say that 400 of their classmates taken randomly don’t remember a single thing about him or his even being there. But Barack Obama, Columbia University class of ‘83, can.
Student Obama spent two years at Columbia after transferring there from Occidental College in Los Angeles. And for all the impression he made on his classmates, he might as well have been in the witness protection program.
The Wall Street Journal reported in 2008 that Fox News called that random group of 400 Columbia classmates and never found one who had ever met Obama.

This ad did not go far enough. Whoever the campaign manager is, they should be FIRED. I could make a better ad. This ad needed to say that Romney was not at Bain when the plant closed. That Soptics wife died 5 years after the plant closed and she had insurance when her husband was laid off. That Soptic was offered a buy out; I guess he refused it; dumbass. That Stephanie Cutter lied on camera about not knowing the story and was proven with a conference call in May of 2012.

This is a namby pamby ad. Yawn?

Exactly. It also needs to add the point that if Bain had not purchased the plant it would have gone under several years sooner, that this guy had several years of additional income he would not have had if it were not for Mitt, and that he must not have had much of a skill set since he could not get another job for all those years. Did he retire? Was he on Medicare? He puts it all on Mitt who tried to save him, while he is the one responsible for not upping his skills to make him employable, for not taking the buyout, for not being responsible himself. Sorry to judge the poor guy, but if he is going to impugn Romney’s intentions and character…

It’s about time the campaign starts fighting back against the ridiculous attacks from the left. I don’t care what political beliefs someone has, it is absolutely unacceptable for anyone on the right or left to tolerate ads like the ones that the campaign for Obama has been releasing. I sure hope Romney takes the gloves off when he is allowed to start spending his dollars, because he can not let these attacks stand without swinging back.

I don’t care what anyone on the right thinks of Romney, you can’t tell me for a second you think allowing Obama to get another 4 years to tear this country down is a better choice. That is absolutely absurd an dangerous to this country. Everyone needs to get behind Romney no matter how conservative or moderate you are. Letting Obama get another 4 years just because Romney isn’t conservative enough for you is an insult to this country. Nothing is more dangerous than 4 more years of THIS. Leave the “lesser of two known evil” nonsense at home. The fact is you may NOT know what Romney is going to do as President, but you DO know what Obama is going to do, and can you really live with yourself knowing you allowed it because of your stubborn, high horse attitude?
