School Responds: Boy Forced to Remove Flag for His Own ‘Safety,’ Can Fly it Again

School officials in Denair, CA have responded to the controversy surrounding a boy forced to remove an American flag from his bike on school grounds due to “racial tensions.” The school’s superintendent is now saying that the boy was told to remove the flag out of concerns for his safety, and that the school will allow him to resume his flag flying:
From KTXL in Sacramento:
Ed Parraz, the Superintendent of the Denair School District told us a school supervisor asked Cody to take down the flag. The supervisor will not be fired or face repercussions. Parraz says the supervisor had information that Cody’s safety was at risk because of the flag. Some students had complained about it and had apparently made threats.
Parraz says they have decided to focus on those students who are causing the problem, not the flag. Cody is now allowed to ride onto school campus with Old Glory on the back. Parraz is aware of the outcry across the nation over this story. He says they embrace the American flag, they are patriotic, but that their main priority is keeping students safe.
Outrage over the initial story was immediate. Both Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh took time on their national radio shows to address it, while a woman from Texas pledged to send 1 million flags to the California school:

Yes it‘s true there ARE people like the one’s you describe, but there are ALSO just as many bigots like you on the other side who focus ONLY on these people, ignoring the MAJORITY of Mexicans and Americans (legal and otherwise) who are compassionate and hardworking people. For every illegal alien or their child who will be a vicious criminal as you describe there could be an illegal or one their “anchor-baby” children serving in our military. The same Americans that wear Che t-shirts and tell minorities that they’re being discriminated. The Spanish speaking immigrants are only getting the liberal side of the news. When the children learn English they are embraced by our wonderful government schools. They are taught American History as an enemy would teach it. Many flag haters probably look just like you. I’m “Hispanic” and I treasure my American Flag. Everything is not as it appears. That’s what baffles the mind.

If you rent a car or motorbike in a foreign country you just don’t fly your flag on it. Historically, foreign flags are only flown by the above and not by private persons. This goes for any private person traveling in a foreign country. This protocol is as old and respected as I can remember and I was born before WWII. The Mexican kid would be going against internationally accepted protocol and could be accused of a provacative action. An American kid can fly an American flag on his bike anywhere in this country and be proud of it. If we don’t protect him, the end is very near.

I pledge allegiance to the flag…Hmmmm…part of what it is to be American. For foriegn nationals in the United States…that is part of the requirement to becoming a United States citizen. So how, can this or the displaying of the flag be found to be “Offensive” by anyone in the United States? How can anyone demand that the flag be removed or otherwise not be displayed? Here is a thought:
If the “Pledge of Allegiance” offends you, YOU offend me. How about YOU go away instead of my pledge?
If the displaying of the flag of the United States of America “Offends” you, YOU offend me, how about YOU go away instead of my flag?
How about banning the public display of ANY other nation’s flag not affiliated with a sanctioned international event? Kind of like all of those “Mexican” flags, “Cuban” flags, “Puerto Rican” flags, “Canadian” flags, “Jamaican” flags, et cetera hanging from the rear view mirrors in cars around the country?
Would ANY other country in the world tolerate me going to their country then, demanding that they remove or otherwise not display national pride in any fashion?
All of you that any of this pertains to…YOU OFFEND ME, and as you demand my forms of national pride be taken away, removed or mot be displayed…I DEMAND that YOU leave MY country, you don’t belong here.

It sounds to me like you ASSUME that any foreigner is your enemy. Newsflash…. Many of the flag haters are liberal Americans. Not everyone with a sticker of another flag on their car whether Italian, Irish, Cuban or Canadian hates the American flag. Most immigrants love this country more than some Americans! You don’t hear those stories on t.v. because it’s not sexy enough. I want America haters to leave to their socialist utopia of Europe. It’s not going to happen.
