Scott Rasmussen Joins ‘Real News’ to Discuss the Youth Vote and Paul Ryan

A poll by Rasmussen Reports released this week found that 50 percent of likely U.S. voters have a favorable opinion of Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan since being named as the running mate with Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney. Before being named Romney’s presidential pick, only 39 percent viewed Ryan favorably. The latest poll finds 32 percent view Ryan unfavorably, as oppose to 25 percent in earlier surveys. According to Rasmussen Reports, 43 percent of voters think Romney made the right choice when he chose Ryan to be his running mate. Twenty-two percent disagree and think it was a bad choice while 35 percent are not sure. The report notes that as is generally the case with running mates, Ryan gives only a slight boost to Romney.

To review Americans’ initial reaction to the Paul Ryan choice by Romney, as well as President Obama’s possible loss of dominance over the youth vote, “Real News From The Blaze” Thursday was joined by Scott Rasmussen. Watch a clip below:

“Ryan opposed a measure that prevented student-loan interest rates from doubling this summer, from 3.4 percent to 6.8 percent.”Ryan has also repeatedly voted for or proposed limiting funding and eligibility for Pell grants, which go to low-income college students. In his proposed budget, for instance, the eligibility requirements for Pell grants would be tightened so fewer students would qualify for them. And the amount of each Pell grant would not keep pace with inflation under Ryan’s plan” Yep this should be very appealing to the younger Americans. Very typical Ryan who’s cost for college was reduced by state support and students loans so more students could attend (supply and demand for those who don’t follow) seeks not only to not pay it forward, but to significantly increase the cost of college and limit access.

Republicans will not get the youth vote with Paul Ryan, youth want freedom and if they don’t get freedom than they will take free stuff or hand outs. Youth voters don‘t like austerity or war at all which is why they in general don’t like establishment GOP. Youth voters are mostly inline with libertarianism or Paul/Johnson platform and than after that more in line with socialist/Obama/Biden platform and not interested at all in austerity and war Romney/Ryan platform.

It’s simple. The young people should, and do seem to have more faith in the Ryan plan regarding SS and Medicare than the Democrats non-plan or just plain raiding of those two entities. The Democrat plan is to just let it go broke with the Xers and younger getting nothing but the bills.

inform the young that they don’t have to vote; they should continue to do that which they have been taught – conform and obey authority

their government masters know best how they should live their lives

    wait…

The “news” reporters keep looking for the “bump” in Romney’s numbers in the poles for picking Mr. Ryan. I think most conservatives believed he would pick a conservative as a running mate so I don’t think the poles will really make a difference for at least another month. I believe putting Mr Ryan and Mr. Biden in a debate on TV will seal the deal for the Republicans and the rest of the uncommitted voters.

The scary things is how many registered and informed adult voters do not vote. We’ve got to get on them and drag them out on Nov. 6.

At the end of the day, wherever people stand with Ryan will pass. The VP doesn’t matter.

Romney needs keep up what he’s been doing for the time being. Slamming their BS back in their face. All they have are an illegal use of a song(really) and the fact that Romney ran a business. They have nothing else to throw at them.

Romney could destroy Obama at any point if he had the balls to do so. All he has to do is pick any of the things he’s done the past 4 years, which were almost always unConstitutional. That’s where Romney needs to buck up. He’s a Constitutional idiot. Ryan could run circles around him, and has.
He has the ammo, he just needs the brains to load the gun and pull the trigger.

Most People will be fine with Ryan because he leaves them with a hope that he knows what he is doing and offers us relief from our pain.

On the youth vote, S.E. Cupp has it right. She said that the young, reliably don’t vote. They talk a big game, but when it comes to registering to vote, and voting, most are too busy doing other things.

If I were Romney, I would court young Catholics, using the fact that Ryan is Catholic and young.
