Scott Walker opponents launched efforts to recall the Wisconsin governor Tuesday, furious over his successful efforts to restrict collective bargaining rights for union workers.
Opponents of Walker, a Republican, must collect 540,000 petition signatures over the next two months for the recall effort to move forward, an average of 9,000 signatures per day. Activists held more than 100 events to kick off the drive Tuesday, including rallies, neighborhood canvases, booths outside the state Capitol and even a demonstration outside Walker’s home.
Hundreds of union members and their supporters gathered outside the governor’s home in a Milwaukee suburb to march and sign recall petitions, ABC affiliate WISN-TV reported. Some carried signs that read,“Recall Walker” and “Walker: Your Pink Slip Is Coming,” though they were met by a small group of Walker supporters with signs and chants of their own.
Andy Kashuba, a Milwaukee union employee outside Walker’s home, told WISN he was happy to sign a recall petition against the governor.
“Our rights are being taken away little by little and we’re tired of it,” Kashuba said.

While a heavy police presence was on hand to ensure safety and to keep watch over Walker’s home, several of his neighbors let people sign recall petitions on their lawns.
“In front of the home is over the line, go find somewhere else to whine!” a Walker supporter chanted at the demonstrators.
Responding to the demonstration in front of his house, Walker told Milwaukee’s WTMJ-AM Tuesday it was a “total disregard for people’s families and others here.”
“I do think that’s crossing the line and I think most people in Wisconsin would agree with that, no matter where they’re at in the spectrum,” he said.
Of the decision to march in front of Walker’s home, organizers said it was about sending a message.
“We respect the neighborhood but we want people to know, Gov. Walker know we will not put up with another three years of his divisive, destructive policies,” Bob Peterson, head of the Milwaukee teachers union, told WISN.
The following video was uploaded to YouTube, purporting to show the demonstrators on the move to Walker’s home:
Talk of recalling Walker began almost immediately after his collective bargaining rights plan was released in February. It passed in March, sparking massive protests in the state Capitol.
According to the Associated Press, under state law Walker‘s not eligible for recall until he’s been in office one full year, which will be in January. Recall petitions can be taken out 60 days earlier, and Democrats chose to begin Tuesday, 11 days after the earliest they could have begun.
A joint poll released Tuesday from Wisconsin Public Radio and St. Norbert College indicated Walker could be in trouble, with 58 percent saying they would support recalling him from office, up from 47 percent in the spring. A breakdown of the findings showed the increase in support for recalling him actually came from Republicans, whose disapproval ratings for him also increased.
Walker said Tuesday he’s staying focused on his campaign pledge to see 250,000 jobs added in the state during his four-year term.
“We are going to be judged by that, whether it‘s judged in 2012 or 2014 we’re not going to take our eye off that focus,” he said. “To me the campaign is not any different than the campaign we’re on in terms of jobs issues.”
The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Posted on November 16, 2011 at 12:08pmMy prediction: they’ll get 1 million signatures, and Walker will be recalled. They lost in Ohio, now they’ll lose here. When you steal from “We the People” in order to give even more money to the wealthiest Americans, that has consequences at the ballot box. Sorry, Americans don’t buy into the idea that we should cater to the rich at the expense of the middle class and poor.

We Americans have committed our finest to a long struggle for freedom and fairness that has made this country the land of opportunity.
It is sad the the Governor chose to bring a personal agenda into office, without running on the points he chose to pursue. If he had been more open, and still was elected, there would be no recall.
These recall actions are extremely rare, and are never casually done. His majesty, the honorable Mr. Walker will walk and keep walking.

I, too, live in Wisconsin and agree. Positive results from Walkers programs are in plain sight. And for the delusional JZS, the state already had a pseudo referendum on Walker with the State Supreme Court Justice election, which the left lost. They union thugs may get their signatures, but Walker will remain in office. Wake up.

Posted on November 16, 2011 at 12:59pm@JZS actually you have a very good point. When you steal from we the people the disapproval should be shown at the ballot box. That’s how Gov Walker got in there in the first place. And now that he’s in there the ones doing the stealing are mad they are losing the ability to do it. Sooner or later we’re likely to get rid of all of them, I hope so at least. But very good point JZS, thank you for bringing it up.

It all comes down for you being greedy; only thing is that you want what others have because you’re not willing to work for it yourself. What you need is a change of diapers and a pacifier. You don’t care about “We the People” you care about ‘Me, me, me’. If you truly cared about the people, you would stand with the courageous ones like Gov. Walker who realizes that you cannot continue to increase unfunded mandates on the backs of the taxpayers and expect them to be fulfilled without ‘revenue’. Those revenues come from individuals, entrepreneurs and businesses that do what ‘The One’ and unions cannot do; create jobs. The latter two practice legalized extortion. It’s people like you that are so lazy that you want to tear others down that actually produce in society and in doing so would increase the number of poor and reduce the middle class. A fool and their money are soon parted; well your the fool advocating an even greater loss of money in the long run and if you get your way, well be suffering under an army of fools.

How can you possibly be a tea party member and support recalling Walker? Wisconsin is about to become a huge laughingstock for stopping and reversing the most successful turnaround of a budget deficit, including paying back illegally raided public pensions and loans from Minnesota, while at the same time LOWERING rather than raising property taxes. The public sector accounts for more jobs than all of private sector employers combined by a large margin. That is the crux of all of our debt problems and the state of the economy as a whole. I guess a LOT of the older union people were running scared, because they were only getting by on their seniority. The unions pumped millions into TV and radio ads that scared lazy and uninformed voters into voting against reform. Little do these people know that NOW, instead of getting rid of overpaid dopes by law, in order to cut Ohio’s debt, they will be handing out the pink slips simpy because there is no money to pay them, and it will probably be mostly non-union who get the shaft. It didn’t change any laws, didn’t make anything illegal, didn’t make birth controls illegal, incest legal, rape legal, abortions illegal, yet the democrats spewed these lies 24-7, spewed them in schools, sent home papers for parents spewing these lies. Hell they even had churches spewing the lie, that you could be a Christian and pro abortion. The only thing the amendment did was force the courts to take back up roe vs wade, so that bad piece of mis-justice could at least be given a chance of being corrected. I don’t care which side of an argument you are on.

In Wisconsin the POLICEMEN AND FIREFIGHTERS were not affected
Report Post »in the Collective bargaining I don’t believe. They were in Ohio that is why
they said he was overreaching. Someone correct me if I am wrong….. But

Posted on November 16, 2011 at 12:27pmWhy do tough guy police and firemen need a union? Is anyone trying to enslave them? No, it is just so that they can squeeze more unaccountable tax dollars from the citizens, you do not need a union to be a cop or firemen or teacher, any that think they do are cowards and parasites.

Posted on November 16, 2011 at 2:26pmYes. The Unions won, MANY years ago. they got LAWS onto the books through lobby, etc… we now have SO MANY workers “rights” laws… there is NO NEED for a union right now… public or private. all they are is a scam \ corporatism engine now a days.

Posted on November 16, 2011 at 10:55amI’ve personally talked to the anti-Walker people. They are the biggest group of morons you’ll ever meet. I really mean it. Low IQ individuals that couldn’t debate if they had to.

Posted on November 16, 2011 at 2:31pmMany, but not all of them by any means. There are professional “community organizers” who have been heavily supported by the Powers That Be (i.e. Soros et al) that have spent the last several months building a huge army of useful idiots to do their bidding. At a meeting in Jefferson County it was revealed that there will be (are already?) THOUSANDS of unemployed union members from Ohio and students from all over, moving to Wisconsin in order to circulate petitions and they staying to vote. The residency requirement is only 28 days. We are so screwed.
