Authorities in upstate New York will continue their search Friday for a college student who went missing one week ago after returning home for Thanksgiving break.
The Onondaga County Sheriff’s office paused the full-scale search and rescue operation Thursday but released a description of the clothing Jenni-Lyn Watson, 20, might have been wearing the last time she was seen: a tan sweatshirt, a pair of blue, green and white colored pajama pants with white socks.
Watson, a student at Mercyhurst College in Pennsylvania, is described as a white female, 5′2″ tall and 100 pounds. She has dirty blonde hair and brown eyes and usually carries a cellular phone with her. According to local news reports, police, firefighters and U.S. Marshals are using information obtained from her cell phone records to search a large wooded area just north of Syracuse.
“This is an area that has shown up on her cell phone records,” Onondaga County Undersheriff Warren Darby told ABC News Syracuse affiliate WSYR. “We wanted to make sure her phone wasn’t left here and if it was, we wanted to recover it because it may have some more information.”
Neighbor Stacey Kinahan told WSYR that it was “very out of character” for Watson to be out of touch with her family. “It’s completely unlike her. She’s a ballerina, a wonderful student, keeps in touch with her family, loves her family. It’s very out of character for her not to contact anybody,” she said.
On Wednesday, members of the local community held a prayer vigil for Watson and her family.
Detectives are investigating reports of a dark-colored pickup truck that may have been in the area around Watson’s home near Syracuse on Friday, Nov. 19 at the time of her disappearance.

Posted on November 25, 2010 at 9:03pmGlad to see this on The Blaze…there is also a Facebook Page for people to post any information they may have that may help in locating Jenni Lyn. The authorities have been searching a large wooded area the past several days, it is the area where her cell phone had pinged. The thing that is most concerning is that they did not search today..search team not available today is all they have reported locally. They wasted a whole day “researching” what information they have collected… Thoughts and prayers to the family of course, but lets get the dogs and the helicopters back out there ASAP! this is local to me, and something that “just doesn’t happen here”…

Posted on November 26, 2010 at 10:35amIt’s local to me as well…I also question why searching ceased over the holiday…I know there are a lot of private citizens that have experience in Search and Rescue that would have assisted in a heart beat…
My thoughts and prayers are with this girl and her family….

Posted on November 26, 2010 at 4:46amI wonder the same thing. I also wonder why our justice system lets them run free when they commit evil over and over again. They could make our country safer if they would just lock predators up permanently. They jprefer to worry about what’s going on in foreign countries.

Posted on November 26, 2010 at 2:10pmCROSSDRAW: Yes excellent response. So thoughtful. Of course your billiant solution would then require removal of the entire human race since humans are born evil. Kindness and compassion is what combats evil. Your theory perpetuates it.
See today’s society — see your future.

Posted on November 25, 2010 at 7:30pmI have lived through what these parents are going through with the worse possible outcome – the discovery of what remained of my son’s body. I pray for the safety of this young lady. I don’t want these parents or any others to suffer as our family did. She sounds like a wonderful young lady,

The pain is always with us, but with God’s help we have learned to handle it. I refuse to let the person who murdered him kill our faith or break up our family. God bless you!
