Second Off-Field Incident: NFL Player Takes Elbow to Head Along Sideline

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Carolina defensive end Tyler Brayton was fined $15,000 by the NFL for hitting Atlanta‘s Chris Owens out of bounds in last week’s game.

The fine was levied on Friday, but not made public.

Brayton hit Owens in the head after the Falcons player was forced off the field during a punt return last week.

Fox Sports showed a video of the incident from Week 14. The grainy coaches film shows Brayton walking up from the bench area toward the field as Owens is engaged with a Carolina defender. Brayton then drops Owens with what appears to be an elbow to the head.

New York Jets strength and conditioning coach Sal Alosi was suspended indefinitely and fined $25,000 for sticking out his knee and tripping Miami’s Nolan Carroll last weekend.

I’m so distracted by the weird hairdos and ugly tattoos that I find it difficult to even watch football games anymore. Do these guys really think this stuff makes them look cool? Hard for me to imagine.

This type of behavior/violence in the NFL is not surprising to me. I stopped watching the NFL over 15 years ago when I heard an announcer during a Super Bowl make the comment that 21% of players in the league had criminal records. I thought about it and realized that 21% of my family, friends and co-workers (I was responsible for hiring at my company and we did background checks on EVERYONE) didn’t have criminal records and why in the world was I using my most valuable asset, my time, watching a bunch of criminals play a game.

I have not missed watching the NFL and have no plans on returning and it would be interesting to see what the percentage of players with criminal records is today.

Unfortunately, if hoodlums didn‘t play football then we wouldn’t be watching the very best players the game has to offer. Besides, we don’t want to watch players apologizing for tackling someone too hard or too late. We like to watch the violent hits…otherwise we would just stay home and watch our family, friends, and co-workers yelling at each other like you do.

the $15,000 dollar fine is a drop in the bucket to these idiots, you could fine them millions and that still will not prevent this kind of ignorance and besides, the unions will appeal and have the fine reduced and they will then pay the fine so what good is the fine??? they { the players } have no respect for any body especially the referees they cuss them call them names and act like a bunch of little babies but when they need the owners and fans to pony up more money for services they act like they are getting the wrong end of the deal. i say fine them a years salary and then kick them out of the sport forever. but again, their union bosses will help them out so what should the n f l do. they are a bunch of cry babies and sissies!!!!!!!!

The thing about football is as far as enjoyment College ball is much better, Saturdays I pay attention. Sundays I kinda watch sports center ESPN and read Monday wrap up. Bowl games stop all productive resources personally.

Wrestling is not fake, it is choreographed. The men and women in pro wrestling are some of the best athletes around. Granted the “show” and “story lines” my be symbolics of everything that is wrong with this country, but when it comes to athletic ability give them their props.

Hey folks…The complexion of the game as a whole has changed over the past years and as a result these types of actions (not to mention off field shoortings and assaults are now becoming common place or too frequent to say the least. Good, clean, hard-hitting, follow the rules, football from class athletes is far and few between. Everyone wants to be a superstar. Foirget about the team…LQQK at me…LQQK at me. Biggest salaries in the history of game being paid and the quality is in the tank. Sad..sad day.

Title: “How to eliminate players and teams that are better than you”

I remember the corner sand lots where we learned to play with morals our parents, school, neighbors, churh, and other citizens taught us. Back then, an adult walking down the street could correct you and often did.

Did you notice that the other defender continued to push the Falcon almost 10 yards down the line while both were out of bounds? Double-teaming on the sidelines, both defenders should suffer.

Football, Baseball, B-Ball, Hockey, Soccer, and anything else that requires character and high morals no longer exists. It is said, “Spearing is illegal and has been for decades, you know where they go like an arrow with the helmet like they have most of the year. Now considered, DAH, its football if you can’t take it don’t get on the field or in this case the sidelines. I guess, though have seen it already, we should start allowing crack-back blocks and hitting the kicker, the receiver when fair catch is called and so forth. Knives, daggers and swords are the next weapons to be allowed, just like Rome, which failed and never had good character or high morals.

Not since Jerry Jones TOOK OVER the Dallas Cowboys have I seen such unsportsmanlike conduct. They had to create two new rules for Eric “The Dunk hit and run Driver” Williams. There was one or two more created just because of the Cowboys in the first couple of yrs

UN-Sportsmanlike players and fans are bunch of losers with a capital “L”. If you want blood sport go to Afghanistan, Mexico or other Latin or Muslim/Communist countries.

In hockey these guys would buy a stick to the face or a stick spear to the back of the knee next time on the ice. Appropriate response in football is a helmet to the unprotected face or a dive (ooops, trip) into a standing and planted off field knee.
