Second Well-Preserved Baby Mammoth Found in Russia

A baby wooly mammoth was found by a reindeer herder in the permafrost of Russia’s Arctic, making it the second mammoth calf to be found so well preserved in the same region in the last four years.

As reported by Reuters:

“If it is true what is said about how it is preserved, this will be another sensation of global significance,” expedition leader Natalia Fyodorova said in a statement on the Arctic Yamalo-Nenetsk region’s official website.

Scientists planned to fly the mammoth’s remains to the regional capital Salekhard, where it would be stored in a cooler to prevent the remains from decomposing.

The recently discovered giant woolly mammoth, like the 40,000-year-old Lyuba — the giant wooly mammoth calf found four years ago named after the discoverer’s wife — was kept in tact by the arctic ice. According to the Washington Post, Lyuba was the most well-preserved mammoth found at the time with skin and major organs in tact. Scientist have yet to determine the age and level of preservation of this newest addition.

Since this is the second one that‘s been found they should sell tickets to a baby mammoth barbeque with the proceeds going to help our ’poor chillund’ or to PETA. I mean as the world heats up these things are going to be popping out all over the place.

I usually peruse a list of at least six news sites as well as news on the TV on a daily basis. I agree with an earlier commenter, The Blaze is the first place I‘ve found this story and a major thank you for spotting interesting news that I don’t find elsewhere. I usually end my evening/days news perusing with The Blaze, and this is a great example of why. Good story!

He’s cute. Let’s clone him and bring them back. It does make one wonder just how this animal was preserved like that. Some kind of immediate flash freeze must have happened. That theory has been around since the 1970s, it’s nothing new. There was some kind of immediate freeze and that was before humans could have possibly affected the weather (not that we do even yet today). How it happened remains a mystery.

@BLOODSWEATANDTEARS you are obviously referring to the discredited hovid young earth “theory.“ the onus is not on me to ”explain” any of those questions because my opinions rest on the weight of evidence. the onus is on you to explain because you are the one espousing a point of view that is against the weight of overwhelming evidence.

the problem with you creationists (one of them), is that you start with a premise you WANT to believe, then try to bend the facts to your preferred version of reality. well, you are not entitled to your own facts. you might think you are using science, but in fact you merely use the language of science as a window dressing. i would respect you more if you had the balls to come out and say what you really believe: that the world was created by magic.

It would take over 40 years to get a mammoth from the dna taking from these animals. They would have to use a female elephant and breed 4 generates to get to a full mammoth. Most cloned animals live short lives and have multiable problems health wise so if clponed it wouldnt last long the more complex the creature the harder to clone a living speciman.

WHY IS IT THAT RUSSIA IS STARTING TO MAKE ALL THE NEW DISCOVERIES…

This is quite a find but have you been watching them and their space industry. They are said to overshoot up in a few years. They are growing by leaps and bounds in the space industry: http://url2it.com/grmh

Now they are hoping to create a space hotel. ( http://www.americanparchment.com )

Then again they just lost contact with one of their satellites in space, do we want to trust them on keeping contact with a hotel in space???

WHY IS IT THAT RUSSIA IS STARTING TO MAKE ALL THE NEW DISCOVERIES…
_____________________________________________________________________________________Because the Obama administration has no need of REAL, actual science. Faked global warming science that can be used to destroy America is OK, but under Obama, curiosity and science is OUT. That filthy communist dirtbag gutted our space agency, NASA. Education in our schools consists mostly of political indoctrination, and little science. We Americans used to be the science leaders until Obama showed up and crashed the party. Now we are entering a scientific dark age under Obama’s evil Anti-American stewardship. Meanwhile, brainwashed liberal-progressives cheer.

Also, the main reason the Russians discovered this is because a lot of their nation is in the Arctic Circle, which has tundra, taiga (deep, old forest) and permafrost, and is much colder than elsewhere. Perfect for preserving these wonderful organic specimens. So fresh that there is still undigested food in the stomachs. Also, do a google search on “Bog Butter” and “Bog Bodies” for Scotland and Northern Ireland. Something about the peat bogs also has a nice preservation effect.
