Ousted Secret Service Supervisor Made Racy Joke About Palin in Facebook Post

The casualties list for the Secret Service prostitution scandal continues to bring surprises, as more information becomes available about the men implicated thus far. Specifically, one of the three men “forced out” of the service yesterday for being involved with the scandal is one David Randall Chaney, an over two decades-long veteran who stood guard over such notables as 2008 Republican Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin. Chaney was pressured to retire and succumbed yesterday.
The other supervisor – one Greg Stokes, who was in charge of the K-9 division – has been warned of an imminent firing, though not without the opportunity to contest the charges made against him.
These revelations have, according to the Washington Post, raised serious doubts as to whether this incident really is the isolated example of Secret Service unprofessionalism that it has been portrayed to be:
Chaney and Stokes have each worked at the Secret Service for nearly two decades, and both have served significant time with the presidential protection detail, people who know the men said. Both are based in Washington.
The supervisors were sent on the trip to supervise dozens of younger, less experienced agents who were part of the advance team preparing for Obama’s arrival.[...]
Attempts to reach both men were unsuccessful. Calls made to Chaney’s home and cell phone and to Stokes’s home were not returned. No one answered the door when a reporter visited Chaney’s home in Northern Virginia. Outside, a silver 4×4 Ford pickup was parked, bearing stickers with a colorful outline of Texas, Chaney’s home state, and the mantra “SECEDE.”
As an interesting sidebar, Chaney’s time guarding Sarah Palin apparently yielded something of a bodyguard crush. He described himself as “checking her out” in the comments section of a facebook photo depicting him and Palin together.

Posted on April 19, 2012 at 11:29pmI seem to recall that the Secret Service agents assigned to JFK at Dallas on November 2, 1963 were accused of partying the night before the assassination and had hangovers the next day when President kennedy was killed. This was an accusation that either came out in the Warren Report or some other investigation at that time. I am not sure, but I also seem to remember that these agents were paryting at Jack Ruby’s stripper club but I may be wrong. The Secret Service may be the “elite” but it seems to me they are an arrogant bunch that needs called on the carpet and have the riot act read to all of them. A good house cleaning is order for the Secret Service.
