Watch the Secret Service Stop a ‘Glitter-Bomber’ From Hitting Romney

Secret Service Arrests Man Attempting Glitter Bomber of Romney

A would-be glitter-bomber is escorted away after trying to pull a stunt with Mitt Romney. (AP)

CNN cameras were following Mitt Romney as he was shaking hands with supporters at a Colorado campaign event. The cable news channel’s Anderson Cooper and Donna Brazile were chatting about Tuesday‘s caucus results as they watched Romney’s Secret Service detail abruptly moved the candidate to one side while a man was hustled from the room.

We later learned that the man was attempting to cover the candidate with a “glitter bomb:”

Agree. Am so tired of the ” in-your-face ” hostility of these various groups. What exactly is their message ? Seems to be ” Look at me..me..me / I hate you” from all that I can see. Seems like a number of our young adults are stuck in a juvenile state of Temper Tantrums. Witness the Occupies and these Glitter Bombers…

Wait? Is Romney the elected official who affects the lives of others? NOOOOOPE! He’s a private citizen with rights just like anyone else. The right to be left alone and to pursue happiness as he see’s fit and if that means running for public office then he has the right and the right not to be molested in the course of that. These people fail to see it is they who are the threat to the very values they say they fight for on behalf of others.

IMO this whole “glitter-bomb” stupidity only serves to further alienate the homosexual community. Gays cannot possibly think that people who watch them acting out like this will be sympathetic. No, this is only done to antagonize and express their rage for the perceived wrong of “not being accepted”. Childish.

      @TH30, well said.
@Berbart, what are you smoking? You are not permitted to throw anything at anyone, period. It’s an invasion upon their person. What happens when we get complacent about these “glitter bombs” and the next nutjob mixes in a little something extra? As far as what they’re protesting, you’re wrong again. It is well established that militant gays, riled up by the big left, are doing this as a supposed protest to what they perceive as anti-gay policies. They are useful idiots.
As a gay man, I’m offended these morons are doing something like this and claim to be doing it in my name. They do their cause absolutely no good and instead do it great harm. The average person looks at this behavior and thinks “I have nothing in common with these freaks.” Well neither do I. All I want is to be left alone with the freedom to quietly live my life with no fear of harm to me or my family, and to have equal protection under the law. If these protesters and big gay left organizations did that, there wouldn’t be nearly the backlash and opposition against us.
Arrest them for assault and penalize accordingly.
BTW, since Obama claims to have the same stance against SSM as the GOP candidates, why did he never get “glitter bombed”? I can’t imagine.

Many of us gays are tired of them too! I thought the Act Up crowd went the way of the dinosaur back in the 90′s. I don’t even socialize with a lot of the gay community anymore and much prefer to hang out with my straight friends who have a head on their shoulders. What most gays do not realize (see CNN article on liberal commentator Roland Martin being suspended for twittering about violence towards gays) is that they are being duped by the liberal crowd. They only want us around when it’s time to vote and people in the gay community fall for it hook line and sinker. Similarly to Martin, even the president is in on it, now that he’s in trouble electorally, he‘s decided that DOMA isn’t something he is willing to support. Bill Clinton sold us down the river in the 90′s over and over. The gay community seems to have collective Muchausen Syndrome and continues to take the abuse. It’s really sad! Glad I’m no longer a liberal and working everyday to convince others that conservatism is the only view that will give everyone a fair shot no matter who they are.

His Tax returns show that he did pay taxes to the IRS for those invetments.. Just because someone has money dosn’t mean they avoid taxes, and since its HIS MONEY he should be able to invest it where he wants. Romney even taxed himself 15% more by giving to charity. Obama paid th same rate as Romney and only gav 1% to charity. I’m not a Romny supporter, but I’m getting sick of higher end people getting villified because they have more money then someone else.

Why not do a search instead of asking it here? There’s a new invention called the “in-ter-net”. It allows us to find out information for simple inquiries for ourselves, rather than rely on comment board responses. I’d give you the reasons, but that would deprive you of the opportunity to look things up for yourself.

Unless it was just an attempt to say this is “the system” picking Romney as the nominee. Then you’d be wrong, since the rules are clear and (here’s a hint) another GOP Pres. hopeful did have SS protection.

I looked into this in-ter-net thing but the point of my question was why the ‘others do not’. It appears homeland security has only approved romneys security request. hmmm. They say one of the criteria is fundraising. sooooo, if a candidate raises a bunch of money – the taxpayer has to protect them? That makes no sense. The candidates who dont have a lot of money are the ones that cannot afford security.

It also appears that another criteria is the ‘size of the event’. We all know ron paul draws the largest crowds. Ron paul has crowds that are full of young people and he is despised by many republicans – dont you think he should have security? Personnaly, since these are voluntary campaigns and events – they should have to pay for their own security. but i wouldnt expect someone like romney to understand a conservative position

Hey Paulpuke. Romney gets Secret Service protection because he is Mormon so in your face. In addition the criteria is decided by homeland security and they base that on who is a “Major Candidate”. Ron Paul is a Major Dingus who will not win one state so why should we pay to protect that racist anti-Semite? I know I know he’s the only one that can save us from the lack of heroine and hookers.

Viper1, I totally agree with you. Just as the MSM shows these glitter bombs, they should also show what happens to them – are they arrested and jailed? If not, the question should be asked why not. First, glitter can cause damage to the eyes and the fact no one has been injured is not a reason to think these occurrences are ‘nothing’. Second, it is glitter now but if they can approach the candidate this close with glitter, who is to say some nut will not have acid or something more dangerous somewhere down the line. I am tired of people in the gay and lesbian community applauding glitter bombs and claiming this is a free speech issue – when you are throwing something at someone it is not speech, it is violent. The left has got to start denouncing these acts and those that commit them has to be dealt by the justice system as violent offenders.

Mitt Romney is the chosen GOP nominee. It’s all but over. He’s get the Secret Service detail and none of the other candidates do. I saw the Santorum being “glitter bombed” and thought? How in the hell are these people getting so close to the candidates? And the media ignores this fact relentlessly. Romney will probably get the glitter eventually. These angry gay factions are free to do whatever they want to whoever they want and no punishment is ever heard of. Cooper Anderson thinks its cute along with Rachel Maddow. What if gunpowder was thrown at Obama? Maybe even some Holy Water? They would have cameras at the jail, pre-trial, and eventual sentencing hearing. Anderson and Maddow might even have competing in depth investigations of all the Secret Service detail (and call for their resignations)who allowed Obama to be sprayed by Holy Water by a violent Christian zealot. Completely plausible.

Your are right txwheels…This isn’t an asinine question, but this report should explain why they are there..I still don’t see what this glitter bombing proves…To me, it shows that gays don’t want people to take them seriously…That is what this is about, right? I don’t have any issues with someone being gay or any of these other things that people complain about…But to start throwing things, anything, makes no sense to me..To me, they are showing the weakness in their cause..These actions need to be dealt with severely so they stop…It’s an assault, not a protest…And to any Gay, PETA, Atheists, Right to life or anyone else who decide to throw things when I am around, you better hope security gets to you first…I won’t stand for it.
P.S. Just so you know, my bullets aren’t rubber. So,behave yourself.

@WHEREAREYOURBRAINS…. no where in your rambling, incoherent, babbling did you ever even come close to making a valid point. We are all now dumber for listening to you. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

The main thing here is that so many of these ‘glitter bombers’ are getting close enough to do so; how long until someone tries to use a real firearm or bomb to do the damage.

Security is generally to tight for weapons to get in, I’d be more worried (if I was part of the security detail) about some knuckle head using pepper instead of glitter, pepper in the eyes can be quite painful, that and those “glitter bombers” are just plain obnoxious anyways.

Yes. Watching the video feed, did he crawl on the floor to get that close? I didn’t see him walking up to where Romney was standing. The problem is the secret service must assume the worst – they have a weapon – until they apprehend the culprit.

All the Republican blue bloods are going to act like it didn’t happen. Wait and see, everyone on FNC and GBTV will act like it’s a fluke and that Romney is still the anointed one. Rick has won more states now than any of them now. Newt needs to go and let us have a conservative VS progressive contest.

@Gonzo….I don’t think so. I listened to post election coverage last night, and most of them are starting to get a “Coming to Jesus”, and confessing their sins at NOT taking Santorum as seriously as they should have.

I’m starting to agree, Newt has blown it, and needs to bow out.

I love the secret service! It has always infuriated me that these “glitter bombers” were allowed to get away with their actions. What if everyone continued to pay little attention to these glitter attacks and then late into the election, a glitter bomber laces the glitter with a poison or even worse – just simply replaces it with a bomb? He would get away with it because no one took it seriously and we would have a dead candidate. I am glad that the Secret Service stopped the pathetic excuse for a human being. I also hope that this person is severely punished for his attempted attack.

Yes, who knows what might be mixed in with the ‘glitter’. What idiots. The fairies, I mean.

Not sure about punishment-he might be charged with assault.
Probably within an hour of the “glitter-bombing”, the Secret Service knew everything about this gay boy from birth to present day. They take this type of thing very seriously.
And they’re not going to forget about him either.

We should not be allowed to “toss” anything at anybody! If tossing is now allowed, I’ll be “tossing” something at libs myself, let them see how they like it.

Ok really? Just what do these people actually think they are accomplishing with glitter??? There is no point and the only real injury that could even be sustained from it is if it gets in the recipients eyes, otherwise it is just a pansy thinking that they are making some kind of point which is all reality they are really just a pansy. Just so you all know I am not a Romney supporter. lol

It’s only violence when its done by someone that can be tied to the TEA Party, or ever went into a Christian church (other than to urinate/defecate as was done in NYC by OWS people).

Imagine if a TEA Party person tossed glitter at Obama. They’d likely be publically executed.
