Security Shock: Book Thrown at Obama After Philly Speech Nearly Hits His Head

Jim Hoft is asking the right question — why is it that a British paper is the main outlet paying attention to this?
The Daily Mail called it a “flying missile” and looked at the security implications:
It is expected that there will be fallout from the security breach as the Secret Service investigates how close the President came to danger.
The rally was clearly an eventful one – other images showed a naked man being led away in handcuffs by police.
It is not clear if the man was involved in the book-throwing incident – or why he was not wearing any clothes.
Hoft posted a video on Gateway Pundit. Pay attention at the :23 mark:
CBS News has this version of the video — with some slo-mo and highlighting:

Posted on October 10, 2010 at 11:59pmMaybe I am just not reading carefully enough, but where was this rally? The only one I read about in the last few days was in Maryland and described as primarily African-American. I have no idea who threw the book, but i have a feeling if it was someone who was a conservative or Tea Party member or Christian or white we would probably be hearing much more about it, but this is only a conjecture. I could be wrong. It will be interesting if we hear or see any more about this in the lamestream media or get any more specific information.

Sadly, in order to fire off a copy of the health care bill, the person would need either a potato gun, a pumpkin cannon or a water cannon.
From the photo, it looks like a trade paperback with about 100 pages and a blue anchor on the back cover with a blue bottom border and the ISBN bar by the spine. They may have reversed the image by accident, since the way it is presented, the cover shown would have been the front cover, not the back.

Dito on that. May yet be a troll disguised as a tea party member however but still those of us that stand for the Constitution and small government are better than they that shred the same and are progressives. You can’t be for the law and for violence in any way shape or form. The argument is too important and lower our stature to acting like a progressive.
Shape up and find peace and share the love of Christ with those that despitefully use you. It is like burning coals on the enemies head where judgement will come in GOD’s perfect timeing and they will have nothing but themselves to blame.

Posted on October 11, 2010 at 1:13amYour absolutley correct!!! Their destructive force will be self defeating if we do not banter with them. and just say to them “I’m sure god will forgiveyou” when they lie and manipulate. Or when they attack an opponent just point out the hate they display and say “Christ/God would not approve” Lying (providing false witness) is covered under the TEN Commandments. The ultimate law. What does that tell you about their character? They will destroy themselves with their own actions. The will try to cover it with “that’s the way its been done for years” and fall into their own traps. conservatives will never have to stoop to their level.

Posted on October 11, 2010 at 6:40am@AmericanPatriot: IF you are going to use phrases such as “I’m sure God will forgive you” and/or “I’m not sure God would approve” then you had better be walking the walk! Period. I want you to know that I actually agree with your sentiments, but I really don‘t think comments like that help in any way simply because of the audience you’d be saying them to. They feel btrayed because they didn’t get what they wanted either, They were promised a no comprimise transformation. and they have been handed the half truth results of a comprimised agenda.

Posted on October 11, 2010 at 12:02amIt was either a fan hoping to get an autograph and the book returned or someone with a grievance, I opt for the latter. With the building wave of tea party and conservative sentiment building across the landscape, I think it has become easy for like minded conservatives to underestimate the discontent with Obama by his own followers.
Report Post »Many across the Left and more specifically the progressives from the left have been increasingly belligerent towards a President they view as a disciplined fundraiser vs. a progressive reformer. While conservative thinkers understand far too well the dangers of Obamanomics and Obamacare, for the most progressive on the left these policies are seen as falling way to short of their, Socialist vs. barbarism attitudes and are perceived as only bones thrown to acquiesce the progressives on the right and serve this administration’s effort to stave off a primary challenge in 2012.
If this event is or is not what I suspect, the discontentment on the far left is becoming more and more obvious and presents true to the right conservatives with a great opportunity to act on the collective apathy among the progressive cool aid drinkers of the hope and change delusions, and sink the final nails into the coffins of the “reformers” on the left. However, this will only be successful if conservative reformers determined to return to constitutional and founding principles can evade the potent and powerful influences of the big money elitist re election campaign manipulations poised to derail conservative reform and set the stage for the reinforcement of the current oligarchic status quo.

Posted on October 11, 2010 at 6:30amI’m a bit saddened by some of the comments regarding this incident. Folks…love him or hate him, he’s still the President of the United States. Throwing an object at our president is not only wildly inappropriate, but impossible to defend with any amount of rhetoric. This is a shameful act by one individual. Let’s not add to the shame by applauding this imbecile or wishing that the book had actually hit him. We’re better than that.
On the other hand, I’m sitting here wondering if and when Obama EVER takes a step out of “campaign mode”!!! Seriously! In all my life, I can’t ever recall seeing the POTUS remain in perpetual campaign mode! This is not becoming of the leader of our country and it definitely rubs me the wrong way. Maybe it’s the arrogance, maybe it’s the endless “blame Bush” rhetoric, maybe it’s just the way his habitual cadence echoes through the soundwaves…whatever it is…it just doesn’t mesh well with me. I understand that we have a significant mid-term election less than a month away so it’s not the timing that bugs me. It‘s the persistant campaigning that’s taken place since DAY ONE of this man’s presidency!
I would LOVE to see someone in the media call him out on this. Simply ask him why he spends so much time traveling from city to city, from college to college, holding “events” that enable him to stand in front of a podium in all his collective glorly and slip into a cadence tantamount to that of a self-absorbed minister/preacher while he sings the lyrics posted on his golden-calf teleprompter! This man has changed the way a POTUS has license to act and it’s a license which I hope will be quickly forgotten and never mimicked once his Marxist-progressive butt is thrown out of office in January 2013.
Could anyone imagine Mitt Romney acting the way Barack Obama acts? Chris Christie? Newt Gingrich? Or even Hillary Clinton, for that matter? I’m embarrassed to the highest degree when I see clips of his “events” on television and even more so when I see hoards of matching Labor Union tee-shirts surrounding him in the background…all chanting in unison…all glassy-eyed (or cross-eyed)…full of rage…eating out of the palm of his hand! It blows me away that there are so many people unable or unwilling to take a step back from the “euphoria” of his cadence and realize exactly what his transformational ideals actually mean for our country! It absolutely blows me away and saddens me to the a point of near-depression.
Anyways…that’s my two-cents…my therapeutic rant. I wish and hope and pray that things would change for the better and that we’d quit obsessing with the notion of transforming America, but instead focus on restoring America. Hey, a guy can dream…right?
BUT SERIOUSLY…for all of you, my fellow countrymen, I hope that you and I won’t allow ourselves to be sucked in to the modern-day political manuever of machiavellian practices. The ends don’t justify the means especially when it involves us stooping to the low levels of our progressive counterparts. Take the higher road, gang. Be what you want America to be and then allow your example to positively infect the hearts and minds of those around you.
God bless ya’ll…and God bless America.

Posted on October 11, 2010 at 9:39amMost of these kinds of events are limited to supporters only. … Odds are a Democrat through the book. … Why? … Because, they are getting as fed up with his nonsense as we are; but, lack conservative restraint.
We might talk about the book and wishing it were bigger, etc.; but, the vast majority of us would never actually throw it.
We only show violence against the violent; and, even then, only to defend those being attacked. … Democrats accuse republicans of going to war, to build up the military industrial complex (Like LBJ did, well that, and to try and make Americans hate war – as if we didn’t already) or for oil or whatever; because, those are reasons they can think of.
Democrat libs don’t think life has enough value to fight for; so, they can’t imagine conservatives having protection of life being their primary motive for fighting against mass murderers.
Remember, in the White House last Christmas, on the tree, they had a Mao ornament.
War is just a game to them. Just like it was to LBJ. Human lives don’t mean much to them; so, why not? Also, their definitions of winning and loosing must be different from ours. I suspect that if they can reduce confidence in the American Military, that would be a win for them.
To us the war is against the terrorists. To them it’s against what they perceive as “American Imperialism”. Listen to what they’ve said, over and over again.
Conservatives don’t like war; but, fight to win when needed.
Liberals claim not to like war; but, don’t seem especially interested in ending wars while in power.
They come up with ROEs that reduce the chances of victory, then put more troops in harms way, spread them thinner, without permission to defined themselves and claim diplomatic reasons for it, while we argue about their stupidity and weakness. Same with their reasons for wanting terrorists to stand before civilian courts. It increases the odds of failure. They spout all kinds of other reasons, and will even invoke the Constitution (which in reality they have no respect for).
I now see a clear pattern in their tactics, religious, economic and military. That pattern is one of deception and ruthlessness. These aren’t just weak lib mistakes. They are deliberate attempts to destroy the fabric of our nation, not our nation itself, just everything it stands for.
The Progressive Democrat elites’ true intent are hidden behind constitutional, political and moral straw-man arguments. Peel the arguments away, and look at their actions. If they are not crazy, ignorant and IQ challenged in their entirety, their consistent pattern of economic, political and military failure, must be seen as deliberate.

Report Post »While I sympathize and would, at another time and president, agree with you, THIS MAN DOES NOT DESERVE OUR RESPECT. My daddy always taught me that TRUST IS EARNED. This man has NOT earned it. He has lied his way into office and is continuing to lie his way through it and he is believing his own lies. But what really irks me is that he is destroying this great country and DIVIDING US. This is not a socialist country and that is what he is trying to make it. He will not and refuses to hear the CONSERVATIVE VOICE speak. He puts Americans down in every way, including on foreign soil. HE DOES NOT SPEAK FOR ME AND HE NEVER WILL. HE DOES NOT DESERVE OUR RESPECT. And, I think he will finally see that come November 2nd when we kick all his friends out of office. This may take some time, but true patriot Americans who believe that TRUST SHOULD BE EARNED will do its best to return this country back to what our founding fathers fought and died for. WE WILL NOT BE SILENT. WE WILL BE BOLD. WE ARE HONORABLE PEOPLE. WE ARE A PEACEFUL PEOPLE. While I do not agree with the book throwing, I did have a smirk on my face when I saw it (wishful thinking that I had hoped the book didn’t miss), but I digress. Come on Americans! LET’S KICK THESE TERRIBLE LIBERAL POLITICIANS OUT OF OFFICE AND SEND A VERY CLEAR MESSAGE TO THE WHITE HOUSE. I do believe that God is on our side IF we follow through in a peaceful way. NOW, IF ONLY THE REST OF HIS CABINET WOULD RESIGN, IT WOULD LEAVE HIM ALONE AND VULNERABLE. I ACTUALLY THINK THE BOOK SHOULD HAVE HIT GEORGE SOROS, IF HE WERE THERE. Obama is taking his orders from him. You know that, don’t you?

Report Post »This president is not comfortable in the White House he does not know how to govern , he continually appoints like thinking Czars in hopes that they will make the decisions for him . Since he is putting non government people as these Czars , they have no idea how Washington works so nothing is getting done .You cant run Washington like a community service job , on the offense all the time. Due to his lack of ability to govern he continually falls back on what he does best campaigning.
@Mrobvious
The troops we have in the field are reserves , when they return to the states they are civilians , and looking for jobs . The government has backed itself into a corner , on one hand they campaigned on bringing the troops home and on the other as they come home to our present unemployment situation , they will add to the unemployment and welfare rolls . Its a sorry place this government has put itself in and the option it has chosen , to do nothing about our troops. In all the publicity on bringing the troops home a couple of months ago , how many actually came home .

Yes he is. The democrat party has been completely taken over by radicals and Marxists, and some are radical-marxists! There was a time that the Democrat party was at least pro-American, but sadly those days are gone.

Posted on October 11, 2010 at 2:10pmCome on people. This is completely immature. This is not the way to handle things. I’m a conservative, and absolutely DO NOT approve of Obama, but i was very upset and disappointed to hear that someone threw a book at him. I‘m glad to see he wasn’t hit or hurt by it.
How immature, this is very very disappointing

How about a money offer to drop an anvil on his head. All Bugs Bunny like. Might as well, it’s already like a cartoon fantasy in the W.H.
