Posted on October 20, 2010 at 9:55pmDitto Kuntry. People drive like fools around trucks because they don’t know any better. Most people haven’t been educated that the rules for driving around trucks are different from driving around other cars. Five axles and five sets of brakes doesn’t translate into great stopping power when you are moving down the road grossed out at 80,000 pounds.
Something important to remember, you may think traffic laws are on your side. But the rules of physics are on the side of the ballistic missle on wheels. Stay clear of trucks as much as possible. Don’t cut them off. Don’t tailgate them.

Posted on October 20, 2010 at 11:21pmAll you truckers out there. Your speed limit in California is 55 MPH. On the freeways here all of you are 70 MPH, tailgating cars, taking the off ramps too fast and spilling your loads, spinning out in the rain. The papers always say, the event is under investigation. I come from a four generation trucking family and I know exactly why you get in accidents. YOU DRIVE TOO FAST!
The truck driver in the video is innocent here, the cop was the goof ball. OK, I just had to get that off my chest. I feel better now.

Posted on October 20, 2010 at 7:02pmI drive a semi, and people seem to be surprised to discover that we can’t stop on a dime, nor can we see everything around us die to the physics of the equipment.
If everyone had to go ride in a semi for 1/2 hour in heavy traffic, maybe they would be more careful around us. If I am fully loaded, I am carrying enough weight to be the same weight as 14 full size SUV’s

Posted on October 21, 2010 at 9:54amI drove for Sam Tanksley Trucking back in the 80s. Most 4 wheelers think because we have 18 wheels and 18 brakes we can stop 18 times a fast. Sorry to disappoint, but “Captain, I canna change the laws of physics!”

Posted on October 20, 2010 at 2:21pmOur great country was founded by and for the citizens of the thirteen colonies. It was designed to insure that a central government was controlled and limited by representatives of those citizens. It was given a limited amount of power, with many checks and balances, to secure the rights and freedoms for its citizens. They were making sure that an American Government would and could not become as Britian had. England enacted laws and taxes on their American subjects, but without allowing the colonies a say in their government. Ignoring the will of the people of America, they bullied and took away what limited rights they had and tried to force them to comply. Sound familiar? Yes, we don’t have to look far across the Atlantic at a despotic leader, we have only to look at the Oval Office in Washington, D. C. and to those whom we had entrusted the liberties of the people and the country. Our representatives, Senate and the House, are there to represent the will of the people. Instead, they have consistently lied to their constituents, both during campaigns and when in office. They have consistently robbed the American people, not only of their money, but also by stealing their liberties, little by little. The incumbent office holders allow themselves to be above the law, they allow themselves to steal by back-room corrupt deals and the like. They ignore the very people who put them in office, they even resort to passing laws, under cover of darkness. They hide laws and corrupt deals in the midst of thousand of pages of laws. This has always been a trick of unethical lawyers. Their mindset is to bog down any opposition by inudating them with mountains of paperwork. Then, they laugh and call the people stupid and ignorant, or worse! No doubt, I could go on and on. Their lack of character, morals and ethics makes them unfit to be employed anywhere, let alone entrusted with the security, freedom, and economic growth of this great country. They have taken your freedom to worship, especially targeting Christianity. They have tried to rewrite the American history, to further their agendas, just like the Moslems continue to do with Israel.
Soon after deciding what sort of Government America was to become, that very question was asked of Benjamin Franklin. In reply Franklin said, “A Republic….if we can keep it”. This is a question that should be upon the lips of all true American patriots. If we can’t or more correctly, if we won’t, then we don’t deserve it. The choice is up to us, the American people, and the answer should be and must be yes we will!
You’re probably asking how do we insure that we will keep this nation a free Republic. Oh, we voted for only those who promised no more taxes, no more spending, etc., etc. Of course they all were proven to be liars again (or should I have said they were just not quite forthcoming or perhaps they were a little disingenuious?). Then we did the “best of the two evils” choice. This was no different than the “Magician’s Choice” trick! We now know that there is no difference between Republicans and the Democrats when it comes to which is telling the truth. Neither has the best interest of America at heart, probably not even in mind! Their goal is simply to acquire power, money, more power and more money while doing and saying anything to remain in office.
So what is the answer? They don’t listen when the people, overwhelmingly, protest and tries to voice their opposition. So the American people need to get their UNDIVIDED attention. How? WE THE PEOPLE, must vote any and all incumbents out of office. It doesn’t matter if they are better than most. If they haven’t been part of the solution, then they are part of the problem. THEY MUST KNOW AND WE MUST LET THEM KNOW THAT GOVERNMENT WILL NO LONGER BE RUN BY ROUGUE LAWYERS AND OPPORTUNISTS, PROGRESSIVES (AKA SOCIALISTS), ETC. THEY ARE NOTHING MORE THAN MODERN-DAY CARPETBAGGERS OR WANNA-BE DICTATORS. THEY MUST BE EDUCATED TO THE FACT THAT THEY WILL BE VOTED OUT AGAIN AND AGAIN, UNTIL THEY LEARN THAT OUR REPRESENTATIVES ARE NO LONGER ABLE TO RUN THEIR OWN VERISON OF CRIME, INC.
AND THOSE THAT ARE ELECTED TO OFFICE, BUT CONTINUE TO DO WHAT IS BEST FOR THEIR OWN BENEFIT WILL SOON LEARN THEY WILL HAVE ONLY ONE TERM IN OFFICE.
We, the people, need to lobby our newly elected representatives to enact new laws to insure ALL our freedoms, our security, etc. Enact laws that ethical or criminal behavior of representatives will be prosecuted swiftly and severly, with no possibility of any pardon…not by a state Governor nor by a President! Enact laws or amendments to limit a President to one term only, ensuring that any damage to our country will not be as damaging as is obvious with this Government. Further limit the terms of our Representatives, both in the Senate and the House. Imperative to limit the term of all Supreme Court Justices to no more than an eight year term and make an amendment that the justices can no longer re-interpret the Constitution, but uphold the laws as it was written and intended by the original framers.
So, the bottom line is this: unless the American people get the undivided attention of those in government…when you and your family members are homeless and hungry or at the very least jobless…remember, you have only yourselves to blame.
THE ONLY WAY TO INSURE THAT YOUR FUTURE REPRESENTATIVES WILL LISTEN TO ITS CONSTITUENTS IS VOTE OUT ALL INCUMBENTS!!! FROM THAT POINT ON, EACH REPRESENTATIVE MUST KNOW WE WILL VOTE THEM OUT AGAIN AND AGAIN UNTIL WE HAVE RESPONSIBLE REPRESENTATIVES THAT UNDERSTAND THEY ARE THERE FOR THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE.

Posted on October 20, 2010 at 12:55pmReminds me of a motorcycle boy who came racing up a street outside our neighborhood, racing along at a speed I estimate to be between 80 to 100 miles per hour. This boy “had” a criminal rap sheet as long as your arm: burglary, drug dealing, driving under the influence, no driver’s license, many other offenses. Never was in jail more than thirty days.
This boy plowed headlong into a light standard. Easy to see why he did not survive. Police closed this area being designated a crime scene. I was able to enter after fetching my press pass to shoot photographs, perform interviews and take notes. There are NO graphic photographs in these photos I shot in conjunction with a published newspaper article of mine; safe to view.
Wreckage of his motorcycle and light standard damage:

Police cleaning up what appears to be about a pound of pot:
http://www.purlgurl.net/~puma/misc/blaze_cycle_02.jpg
Wreckage extends another 25 yards or so behind this police officer:
http://www.purlgurl.net/~puma/misc/blaze_cycle_03.jpg
This is what prompted my story, gang graffiti “memorializing” this gang banger:
http://www.purlgurl.net/~puma/misc/blaze_cycle_04.jpg
Unable to obtain coroner photos, I snagged a memorial photo from his funeral:
http://www.purlgurl.net/~puma/misc/blaze_cycle_05.jpg
Result of this incident is his gang banger friends plastered the entrance area of our neighborhood with gang graffiti, beer bottles, wine bottles and hamburger joint trash, for weeks. Angry about this, I went to our mayor’s office and laid into him for allowing gang graffiti and associated trash to ruin our neighborhood. Our mayor, a left liberal, tells me, “We must show sensitivity for his family.”
I show him some of my photos, “Mr. Mayor, I will use these photos against you during your next election.” Following day, a city crew cleaned up their gang graffiti out there. Small cross remains, though, many months later.

Posted on October 21, 2010 at 4:57amYELLOW FIN asks, “Isn’t it a shame you have to force a politician to do the right thing?”
Extremely annoying. I understand people creating a small memorial street side for a lost loved one. However, you can see in my photos this incident moved into gang banger graffiti. I would not be so mad but several of us in our neighborhood called a variety of city departments to have this mess cleaned up, none responded although our tax money pays their wages and pays for their services.
Fine, I will go down to city hall and blast our mayor right to his face. He knows me well, actually had a fundraiser for him many years back at our home. He is elected and goes all left liberal on us.
This past May I nailed him and each city council member during a car show parade, took photos and asked each, “Do you agree with the Arizona immigration law?” Only one out of nine city council members agreed with the Arizona law, a conservative.
Point here is often we have to take the fight to our politicians to have our freedoms protected. One of those freedoms is not having gang bangers invading our neighbor because their dope dealer splattered his brains all over our street. I am challenged to display sympathy for a multiple convicted felon gang member riding his bullet bike a hundred miles per hour on a public street while transporting a pound of pot.
By-the-by, the boy hit that light standard so hard his helmet went flying about fifty behind him, flew backwards from his direction of travel. He came to final rest about a hundred feet on up the street.
Ten minutes later, dozens of school children would be walking home right at this scene. No telling how many he would have injured or killed.
Mayor tells me we have to display sensitivity for his family. Mule manure.

Basic motorcycle operation……Keep your head on a swivel or you will lose your head and she almost did. Obviously they do not have the Police motorcycle operational training we have here. Our motor cops can do things on their ride that would scare the begezus out of the average rider.

Posted on October 20, 2010 at 2:48pmI thought so, too, when I first watched the video. The protruding visor or bill of her helmet seems to indicate her head was pointing to the right.
On closer examination, though, you’ll see that the whitish-colored smudge isn’t a “visor” attached to the helmet, it’s the shiny reflection of the left rear view mirror that lines up, from the camera’s point of view, with the forehead area of the cop.
Subjective Contours, the tendency for the brain to fill in missing or ambiguous visual data, makes us resolve the bright, whiteish mirror as a part of the bright, white helmet. Our experience then gives the data the “logical” identity of a visor sticking out the front of the helmet.
Watch as she rolls counter-clockwise off the bike and her head impacts the trailer. The helmet is smooth in the front- no visor.
Which, of course, removes the only excuse she had for hitting the truck (and she did hit it, not the other way around…), that she wasn’t looking in its direction.
Glad she wasn’t seriously injured, of course, but as Heinlein said, “Stupidity is a capital crime!”

Posted on October 20, 2010 at 12:31pmHmmmmm the truck must have been going sideways to hit the officer, since the collision occurred towards the end of the right side fuel tank, the officer obviously struck the slow moving truck. The big question would be who had the right of way

How many times do we need to listen to his tirade about being delayed while trying to fly home. He seems to always have an anti cop bias on his report reading. His bias is more in line with MSNBC.
