See a Cyclist Get Run Over by a Charging Antelope in Africa

Evan van der Spuy rides along minding his own business for Team Jeep South Africa during a mountain bike race through Albert Falls Dam in South Africa. Then, along comes a red hartebeest, a large antelope that can weighs between 265 to 440 pounds, that rams right into him.

Watch the footage, which provides an excellent reason to wear a helmet. (Note: at 4 seconds in, fellow ride shouts “Watch the buck”):

Fox reports van der Spuy suffered a minor concussion.

Hopefully Barry’s staff will watch this over and over and over. The biker (Barry) gets taken out by the Cain Train (antelope). The results will be the same.

I really liked Cain back when he supported the FairTax, and I still believe that he is a man of core values. But my vote is for Ron Paul as he has been the most consistent candidate, the most winning candidate, and the one that best fits my own personal belief structure.

@SGTB – Ron Paul has got some good ideas, but anyone who doesn’t understand why Iran should not have nuclear capabilities should not be president.

In Wisconsin, the cyclists have the same rights as automobiles on pulic roads. I personally think that was an idiotic law that was passed by progressives. When we were kids, we rode on the opposing side to see the traffic, and OFF the pavement when approaching vehicles were seen. Today, I more inclined to believe cyclists are “TOO” (Targets Of Opportunity), to be taken off the streets just like the red hartebeest did to that cyclist. Too funny, I loved seening that. Am glad the cyclist was ok, but, they have an attitude that need adjusting just like what occured.

So you‘re one of those jerks who doesn’t believe that every taxpaying American has a right to use what they pay for! If I choose to ride my bicycle as my mode of conveyance to and from that is my business. Sure, I‘ll try to keep myself as safe as possible if for no other reason than I don’t want a simpleton who isn’t paying attention to run me over like a skunk, but where do you get off thinking that just because you utilize the road inside a large metal cage that you have some greater right to use it than anyone else? Even though our 1st amendment and our human right is to speak whatever we think or without thinking at all does not mean that it is wise to just blurt out the utter BS that you do without thinking about it.

OH, I see a Wisconsin member of the PEE PARTY has decided to post its thoughts.

Just to add, we here in Texas as cyclists are expected and required to obey traffic laws as all
motorized vehicle drivers do, with a few exceptions. It is safer that way.

Also, stay away from Texas as we also have the right to carry concealed weapons as we cycle about. I exercise my rights.
Let that rattle around in your tin can.

Bicyclists are a road hazard. They slow down traffic and cause dangerous driving conditions to exist by being too far in the road – Esspecially those cyclists who commute to work during rush hour traffic.

roads are bought and paid for by “Motor” vehicles, i.e. gas tax and registration taxes. Riding a bike on a road created for “Motor” vehciles creates a risk, mostly to the bicyclist, but to the motor vehicle operator as well. Grow a brain and stay on your bike paths.

So because you want to ride your bike in areas were you can not keep up with traffic we should all pay for it by swerving to miss you, wait behind you until it is safe, add more congestion, increase our insurance premiums, etc. F U pal, you are an idiot, I can not stand selfish people like you.

      @SGBT
      Sir or Ma’am,

I live in Tacoma Washington. I agree every tax payer has the right to use the road. I deal with folks on bicycles almost everyday. Normally I dont have any problems with them. Untill they decide a bike lane can accomidate 3 riders riding abreast, ignoring traffic laws(red lights, pedestrians, failing to use turn signals ect.) Piping vehicles that are stopped at a traffic light. Piping is where you place a diagonaly cut steel pipe on the paint job of a vehicle as your ride by. There are jerks in motor vehicles and jerks on bicycles. It always the few that give the majority a bad name.

to SGTB……. When cyclists’ get 5mph safety bumpers, acquire some crumple space, get license plates and tabs, pay gas tax (no your not using your gas tax equity, if you are not in your car) and can keep up with the full flow of traffic; then you give me a ringy dingy. Until then stay in the “bike” lanes. Over and Out!
