Chalk another one up for the critics of NBC’s coverage of the Olympics. Although in a strange twist, it‘s a local NBC affiliate mocking the network’s handling of it all.
Recently, Jacksonville’s WTLV-TV sports director Dan Hicken had enough of NBC network anchor Bob Costas going over on his allotted time. See, the network is supposed to be done with it’s coverage at midnight, then immediately throw it to the local news team that are staying up late to deliver the local news. That means those on the East Coast have to stay up late. And when Costas went over on his time, Hicken had enough.
“He did it to us again. He did it again! He does it ever four years!” Hicken said during the live broadcast. “Bob doesn‘t know that 12 o’clock means 12 o’clock.”
“Bob, when it’s 12 o’clock, you say Goodnight,” Hicken yelled later during the sports part of the broadcast, which started at 12:31 a.m. according to TV Spy. “You don’t care because you’re sleeping right now.”
He later smiled as his colleagues looked on nervously, but predicted that this sort of thing from Costas will continue (while begging for Costas to show some respect).

Posted on August 6, 2012 at 4:09pmIs there now a separate network playing the medal ceremonies? I so used to love seeing American athletes getting their gold and then hearing our National Anthem as our Flag was raised but in the hours spent of having to watch NBC to see the olympics I have yet to see even 1 American winning medal ceremony or any ceremony.
Has NBC completely removed this from their edited coverage? Not even The Blaze is making note of this.

Posted on August 6, 2012 at 4:38pmI have seen several medal ceremonies. But would not suprise me if NBC was limiting their exposure because they actually show the flag and you actually hear the National Anthem. You know, things that communist sympathizers like NBC detest.

Posted on August 6, 2012 at 2:58pmI dont recognize Bob anymore. He obviously had some major work done, and it looks horrible. He and others should age like everyone else and he would get more respect. But this was fun to watch, this guy should have stuck to his guns and not said that bob was a great sportscaster. the other two puppets just sat there staring at him. funny stuff.

Posted on August 6, 2012 at 2:54pmWhat a dolt. He really thinks he’s so important that no one should run into his time slot.
These people should wake up. They’re news readers and sports readers in Jacksonville, FL. No matter how much you try to stretch your imagination, you’ll find that none of these people is very important…but then again, neither is Costas, one of the worlds most overbearing short guys, when no one is looking.

Posted on August 6, 2012 at 4:00pmI love seeing people standing up for themselves. IMHO: Costas is about as sincerely as my neighbor’s cat. Most of these Olympians have been very trained in what to say/not say…it all sounds rehearsed. That’s why I loved Williams happy dance when she won Gold!

Posted on August 6, 2012 at 2:44pmI loved to watch the Winter games especially the ice skating – but that little guy that always talked too much- picking out mistakes- just did me under – Scott Hamilton -I think was his name. I refuse to watch anything that he narrates. Have no idea what a sow cow is- I just like to watch with no comments from the peanut gallery. Have not watched much of Summer. These narratiors get under my skin just like POTUS

Posted on August 6, 2012 at 2:15pmCostas is the most obnoxious person. In the 1985 Orange Bowl, The Oklahoma Sooners were highly favored to beat the Washington Huskies, my team, and Costas spent much of the pre-game speculating on Oklahoma’s margin of victory. Washington blew out #1 ranked Oklahoma, and post game commentary from a scowling Costas included him turning around and raising his voice to a bunch of celebrating Huskies, “How ’bout a little decorum!!”. Costas is a petty little loser.

Posted on August 6, 2012 at 1:26pmCostas has an undeserved ego the size of Texas. From the get-go it’s all about him. He is 60 years old and his facelift makes him look like an aged Peter Pan.
Report Post »Notice when he interviews, he always poses with his left leg over his right, not in the normal cross legs pose, but in a higher leg pose to let viewers know that the show is all about him and he only tolerates Olympic Gold Medal guests to show that he is the star and everyone else is an extra in his narcissistic venue.
