WEST CHESTER, Ohio (The Blaze/AP) — Briefcases with handwritten signs attached were left at the front door of U.S. House Speaker John Boehner’s Ohio office, bringing out a bomb squad.
Investigators in the Cincinnati suburb of West Chester tell multiple media outlets that the bomb squad blew the cases apart on Sunday and found they contained only papers. No one was hurt.
WCPO-TV captured the bomb squad robot removing the briefcases and exploding them:
WCPO reports the signs were on colored paper and included messages with the words “jobs,“ ”oil“ and ”gas.” A West Chester officer on patrol first noticed the briefcases outside the Republican congressman’s office late Sunday morning.
Boehner spokeswoman Brittany Bramell said that investigators’ “vigilance and efforts” were appreciated.

Posted on August 15, 2011 at 6:01pmI can’t speak for this robot but I retired as the Bomb Squad Commander of my department and our robots have “detectors” attached that alert in the presence of anything we can’t see. There are many other tools and methods we don’t reveal for obvious reasons. Anyone wanting to deliver a bio/chem agent would use a different method if they had any idea what they were doing. We were also trained as Haz Mat Techs and if there had been a spill or release we would have made sure we could have contained it before we took the shot. All things are considered (or should be) before any action is taken. With no lives at stake, the bomb squad can take all the time they need. Fingerprints and other trace eveidence would be on the recovered debris and would be checked for any suspitious substance before clearing the scene. Plain bleach sprayed on the affected area would take care of 99% of the problems they would face. Whoever placed them there hopefully will spend a large part of their future in prison. If the idiots that did these things knew how much it cost the tax payers to have the bomb squad “safe” an area like this, they would realize it’s not worth it. When I was young morons would have just wrote their message on the windows in soap. Like this, the message is lost in the delivery. No one will remember or care what the messages said, only that the bomb squad had to show up. It’s a shame we have the same caliber of people to worry about here as our soldiers do in Iraq and Afg

…’Next time they will load up the briefcases with some powdered biological that will be effectively dispersed when they blow up the briefcase.
They will learn the first time it haappens, because they are too ‘Programmed’ to think independently of their ‘Hive Mind’ to see past the ‘Fun’ of blowing things up!
Thet won’t listen to common sense, either!
I once wrote up a warning about a simple common household / office supply / scientific instrument that could be used to cause billions of dollars in damages and losses and possibly kill or displace tens of thousands of people…
but after reading it over for spelling, grammer and punctuation… I decided that it would probably get me put on some loony ‘watch list’ or ‘shot as a threat to national security’…
the point is… I thought about what I had figured out and decided that even if the ‘Good Guys’ got a whiff of it, they’d surely find a way to use it against the people somehow!
Or worse, real terrorists might get some hairburnt scheme and ‘Poof Out’ in some public park or movie house.
Amazingly, all it took was a ‘second look’ to discover my ‘Blind-Sidedness‘ before I ’Poofed Out’!
Why can‘t those in government simply take a realistic second look at the crap they’re doing?
It‘s wasn’t that difficult for ME to see!
Or is it that they’re just in it for the Money?
This is just like outing the Seals

Posted on August 16, 2011 at 10:06amSuspected bombs go into a sealed containment chamber, then they’re exploded. The exhaust from that chamber is filtered. The chance of any biological agent surviving the heat of the blast is minimal, if it exists at all…

The link to follow is the station link at http://www.wcpo.com. There you find “a story”, or as we call it in the broadcasting world, “a teaser”. It’s a much shorter version of the original story produced for the five, 10 or 11 o’clock segments. Shorter versions are generally the stories edited down to run at other smaller watched times. The version the Blaze put on was the featured original story.
Maryann72961, that’s the only difference between the two. One is the full story and the other is the shorter version on the website.
I wish more people on BOTH sides of the fence would quit jumping the gun on everything. That’s the reason I finally walked away from both radio and TV after 25 years, I was getting tired of the Liberals and Conservatives fighting each other. Most of the media IS Liberal based, but when it comes to who has the stronger and reliable audience, it’s 9 times out of 10, the Conservative crowd. That’s why those station due well, and the Liberals can’t get it through their head, that not everyone believes in what they believe in.

Remember how Eric Cantor claimed his window had been shot out? It was later proven totally false, but he gained publicity and gravitas.

Posted on August 15, 2011 at 12:26pmIn these days, where living and coping with constant Fear is so important, it is best to let the federally-funded police bomb squads demonstrate their capabilities every now and then.
In the old days they would have placed the cases in an x-ray, or have explosive meters sniff them. Nowadays its safer to blow them up if you have a robot.
If those cases had been full of dynamite, exploding them might have been the wrong thing to do!

again if this happened at palosi or reids office it’d be break wall to wall coverage just like last week’s Wisconsin’s recall DEFEAT for the union thugs, despite spending $35 MILLION for recall effort the republicans held on & may even gain more seats with this week’s upcoming recall of a couple of dems. AGAIN you might be able to find something in the biased partisan left wing lamesteram media but if it were the other way around it would again have been wall to wall coverage
