Editor’s note: this is a clip we first brought you on the blog.
In April, the Blaze told you about “Game Change,” the upcoming HBO movie based on the bestselling book by the same name. The book, written by John Heilemann (New York Magazine) and Mark Halperin (Time Magazine), delves deeply into the 2008 political drama created by the Obama, Clinton, McCain and Palin campaigns.
This week, HBO released the first sneak-peak of the film, which is set to debut in March. The Hollywood Reporter has more:
The first footage of HBO Films’ 2008 election telepic Game Change has arrived and offers the first glimpse of Julianne Moore as Sarah Palin.
In the short promo, Moore delivers the words that would go on to change politics when Palin says, “I will be honored to accept your nomination for vice president of the United States.”
Below, watch the promo that has critics buzzing:
In the flick, Ed Harris plays John McCain and Woody Harrelson plays his campaign manager. The movie was directed by Jay Roach and the script was written by Danny Strong.
Here’s a synopsis of the “Game Change” book, which provides more insight into what one can expect from the film:
In 2008 , the presidential election became blockbuster entertainment. Everyone was watching as the race for the White House unfolded like something from the realm of fiction. The meteoric rise and historic triumph of Barack Obama. The shocking fall of the House of Clinton—and the improbable resurrection of Hillary as Obama’s partner and America’s face to the world. The mercurial performance of John McCain and the mesmerizing emergence of Sarah Palin. But despite the wall-to-wall media coverage of this spellbinding drama, remarkably little of the real story behind the headlines had been told—until now.
In Game Change, John Heilemann and Mark Halperin pull back the curtains on the Obama, Clinton, McCain, and Palin campaigns. Based on hundreds of interviews with the people who lived thestory, Game Change is a reportorial tour de force that reads like a fast-paced novel.
We’ll have to wait and see how the film treats the then-candidates before making an official determination about its fairness and accuracy. Either way, it should be a fascinating watch.

His deductive reasoning skills are are clearly tip-top as “Best Seller” apparently equals “Fair and accurate portrayal.“ The reason the book was ”popular” was because it slandered Clinton, McCain and Palin with anonymous sources while championing Obama. What more could irrational simpletons want?

As for Julianne Moore, she has one ugly nose!!!! Nothing like Sarah’s.
I too will refrain from spending any of my money on seeing the movie. Hollywood has a nasty habit of trashing good books. Because of this, and because of the liberals who scoop up the money, I haven’t been to a movie in at least 15 years.
om seeing the movie. Hollywood has a way of trashing even good books.

Posted on December 25, 2011 at 10:09amWonder if they will show any of their campaign stops. Here in Williamsport, Pa., Sarah came to town the same day as Biden. Less then 700 people went to see Biden. Over 10,000 went to see Sarah. They had to change her appearance to the baseball stadium to hold everyone.Their reception was so great, the platform the news people (w/cameras) stood on actually vibrated.
This can be confirmed with the Williamsport Sun-Gazette who did articles on both of them.

Posted on December 22, 2011 at 11:23amThe only thoughts I have are, since Ed Harris and Woody Harrelson tend to be waaaay left-leaning are they going to portray an accurate representation despite their ideology? No idea where Julianne Moore lies. I’m just wondering if this is going to be another “groundbreaking” piece like they did on Reagan a few years ago, which the term is called “wilding”.

Posted on December 22, 2011 at 1:18pmOne, conservatives don’t have anyone associated with their ideology honest enough to write non fiction. Two, they made a movie about Hillary Clinton, it was called “Hillary the Movie” and the conservatives that produced it had to defend it against litigation in relation to campaign finance law.

You keep saying that it based on a “best selling” book like that means it’s an accurate account. I’m not going to comment on the book (since I haven’t read it) or the movie (since I haven’t seen it) but you keep saying “best selling” like that means something. Glenn’s books are best sellers. I doubt you would find that as vindication of the subject matter of the books.
Report Post »Bible Quotin' Science Fearin' Conservative American
Posted on December 22, 2011 at 3:07pmMy point is it’s not a “hollywood elite” created movie to bash Palin as so many GED owners here would assume.
IONNES
Posted on December 22, 2011 at 4:56pm@Bible
Well the fact that it’s based on a “best selling” book doesn’t make that case. The fact that a book is or is not a best seller has nothing to do with the veracity of its contents. Trying to use the term to say the movie has worth (or could have worth) is a logical fallacy. It’s almost a variant of the appeal to authority fallacy.
Report Post »Bible Quotin' Science Fearin' Conservative American
Posted on December 22, 2011 at 5:45pmYea, about like making assumptions about a movie based on a book you haven’t read.
Report Post »IONNES
Posted on December 22, 2011 at 6:10pm@Bible
Well, since I made no assumptions about either the book or the movie I suppose that was directed elsewhere. However there is a problem with your statement. A logical fallacy of the sort you used is nothing like assuming that Hollywood would follow it’s normal pattern (regardless of the contents of the book since it‘s not unlike Hollywood to make a movie that looks nothing llike the movie it’s “based” on). For example it is not a logical fallacy to say that you won‘t agree with Glenn’s latest book if you have read books of his in the past and do not agree with the world view presented there. However it would be a logical fallacy to say Glenn’s latest book is really well written because it sold so many copies. See the difference there.

Posted on March 2, 2012 at 4:36pmROMANTICPOET: Dosen’t anyone think the timing is odd? If this was not meant to gain politically for BHO why release it now? Could it be that Sarah has been speaking out and that her speeches have shown her popularity among conservatives? OR that we pay attention to her as strong voice for conservatives? Come on, if they did not think of her as a threat they would not have bothered to make this movie. And who is to say that this BOOK had reliable information to begin with? I doubt any portrayal about the “other side” will be shown in the same light.

Oh, and she’s walks the walk. THEY ARE DEATHLY AFRAID of the power she has. GO SARAH. and NO I will NOT be watching this movie. Hollywood has no clue what to even make of Sarah Palin, Ann Coulter or any other attractive, smart and willing conservative woman of force, they certainly won’t paint her in a positive light. While she is admittedly attractive and as you say “unabashedly conservative” neither are any particular virtue in the grand scheme of things. I find her to be forced as opposed to a force, as I watched her little show on TLC and there were tells that she’s not what she would like her image to be.
