See Christian Students Slamming Vanderbilt’s Religious Crackdown: ‘They’re…Asking Us to Deny Our Faith’

Vanderbilt College Republicans Release Video Religious Freedom VideoSome professors and pupils at Vanderbilt University are fighting diligently against the university’s crack-down on campus religious groups. While the school’s administration has shown no sign of backing down, neither have individual students and campus groups who feel their religious rights are being trampled.

(Related: Vanderbilt University: Christian Campus Groups Can’t Require Leaders to Have Specific Beliefs)

The Vanderbilt College Republicans have produced a new video (viewable on the “Restore Religious Freedom at Vanderbilt” web site) that showcases student reaction to the university’s non-discrimination rules — regulations that forbid student clubs from requiring leaders to hold specific beliefs.

The clip opens with individual students discussing, one-by-one, the nation’s history of religious freedom. They go on to utter the first portion of the First Amendment — “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof,” while reiterating the Founding Fathers’ words about faith.

“Our new so-called non-discrimination policy threatens to destroy the integrity of each of our religious organizations,” one student proclaims.

“With this policy, Vanderbilt is going somewhere where no other university has gone before,” says another student.

“What are they thinking?,” numerous students ask, as another chimes in to encourage viewers to get involved. “We call on the chancellor to stop this nonsense,” he says.

Watch the video, below:

In another video, the students raise a series of very important questions surrounding the college’s opposition to the crackdown. “They’re actually asking us to deny our faith,” one student says:

It seems the students at Vanderbilt aren‘t satisfied with the answers they’ve been given. This is one battle that doesn’t have a foreseeable end in sight.

Silent no more! For too long, Christians have misinterpreted “Turn the other cheek.” It refers to teaching Christian Doctrine, NOT allowing others to trample on our beliefs or abuse us in ANY way.
Kick the dust off your feet, and move on to another town/person who’s open to hearing the Word of God.

It IS now or never. It IS NOT Catholics vs. the administration, or even Christians vs. the administration. It is people with any belief in God vs. the administration. The hope is that all of us will keep our head in the sand so they can knock off one religion at a time. (e.g., the abortion et. al. issue between the administration and the Catholic Church in the US) Pastor Martin Niemoller (1892-1984)in Germany in 1934 said (and says) it best. “First they came for the Jews and I did not speak out because I was not a Jew. Then they came for the communists and I did not speak out because I was not a communist. Then they came after the trade unionists and AI did not speak out because I was not a trade unionist. Then they came for me and there was no one lest to speak out for me.” We must all stand together and make the November 2012 vote so large and so demanding that even all of the administrations voting fixers and polling intimidation and lies will not matter. Wake up America. … or lose it.

If you don’t get GBTV, please sign up and if you eliminate only 2 full tanks of gasoline for the year, it would pay for one year of viewing. Well worth it and let your older children watch because they need their eyes to be opened and look what is in their future and prepare and look to Good not Evil.
Warren Schmidt is a retired “insurance actuary person” and is still motoring around in his RV so perhaps another actuary could use life-expectancy tables and stats of the United States and let Americans know how long we have before our nation’s life-insurance policy will be cashed-in with the death of America!…. There’s many of us out here who gained our education through the School of Hard Knocks. With no money for college, and tired of lousy low paying jobs,we’re self educated.I earned a Basic Electronics Cerificate back in the 80‘s and made a small fortune repairing vcrs and crt TV’s.I learned to repair major appliances(washers/dryers/refrigerators/micowaves/gas furnaces) from lots of reading and a small investment in tools.I’ve never needed a repairman on any of my appliances.I do it myself.Friends and family love me when their ‘stuff’ breaks down.
But I found my true calling driving a truck.Inexpensive training, pays decent, and no boss looking over my shoulder all day.

Well said. You know, your comment reminds me of the old song about “the company store”. Anyone remember this from “Sixteen Tons”?

“I was born one mornin‘ when the sun didn’t shine
I picked up my shovel and I walked to the mine
I loaded sixteen tons of number nine coal
And the straw boss said “Well, a-bless my soul”

You load sixteen tons, what do you get
Another day older and deeper in debt
Saint Peter don’t you call me ’cause I can’t go
I owe my soul to the company store”

I think our higher education system has become the new “company store”. For those who are not familiar with the phrase, a company store is “a store usually extending limited amounts of credit from which employees of a company may and are sometimes required to buy their groceries and other merchandise”. The catch is, you always ended up owing money to the company store and could never leave the company to find other work. They kept you as a virtual slave because you could never get out of debt. Your wages were just high enough to keep making payments to the store but never enough to pay the debt and gain your freedom.

It’s time to tell the “company store”, the Communist university system, to take a flying leap.
