See Proof That MoveOn.org Rally Pumped by Van Jones Had Socialist Hosts

Last month, The Blaze exclusively reported that MoveOn.org’s “Rally to Save the American Dream” in Washington, D.C. was orchestrated by a group called the International Socialist Organization (ISO).

After waiting on a Freedom of Information Act request, The Blaze has exclusively obtained the event’s permit documents which clearly state the Dupont Circle rally permit was applied for and granted to ISO. However, new twists in the story paint a different picture of the apparent collusion between leftist groups, including the ISO, MoveOn.org, SEIU, Planned Parenthood and infamous former green jobs czar Van Jones.

On February 23 — just one day after Van Jones published his rally cry at the Huffington Post — Heather Kangas, an organizer with ISO filed a permit application with the U.S. National Park Service to reserve protest space at Dupont Cirlce in Northwest Washington.

(Although the city’s Metropolitan Police Department generally handles protest permit requests across the District of Columbia, Dupont Circle is federally owned land and therefore managed by the NPS.)

According to the permit application, the ISO said its would protest “proposed budget cuts to women’s reproductive health services,” ostensibly a rally against congressional Republicans’ proposed defunding of abortion provider Planned Parenthood.

However, through a seemingly coordinated effort, solidarity event sponsors MoveOn.org and the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) successfully negotiated for a joint demonstration to support Wisconsin union workers with the ISO permit holders.  Instead of a rally in support of Planned Parenthood, demonstrators co-opted the event for a “Rally to Save the American Dream” featuring Van Jones.

It’s unclear why MoveOn.org and SEIU chose to work with ISO rather than hold their own separate protest. Various commenters’ accounts on Facebook suggest the groups had planned a separate demonstration to be held closer to the Capitol building, however plans changed and MoveOn instructed participants to attend the rally at Dupont Circle.

The Blaze has confirmed that neither the National Park Service nor the Metropolitan Police Department received a permit request from either group for a separate event.

FOIA requests to obtain any permit applications submitted to the U.S. Capitol Police for a protest on Capitol grounds were unsuccessful.  A spokeswoman for the Capitol Police Department told The Blaze that the Capitol Building falls under the purview of Congress and is not subject to public information inquiries under the Freedom of Information Act.

So how did MoveOn, SEIU and ISO collaborate in organizing the “American Dream” rally?

Repeated requests for comment from each organization (local and national chapters) and rally organizer Heather Kangas have gone unanswered.  In addition, Planned Parenthood has also failed to respond to inquiries from The Blaze as to whether another pro-choice/anti-budget cuts rally will be scheduled.  Planned Parenthood also failed to answer questions posed by The Blaze  about possible role as a sponsor of the 2/26 rally in Washington.

Video captured at the protest shows corroboration amongst the groups, however, as protesters explain that “Planned Parenthood has a permit” and the pro-union rally organizers were “working with them.”  But as we’ve reported, the only permit issued for the event was acquired by the International Socialist Organization, suggesting union protesters worked with ISO to organize the rally:

According to the National Park Service, such permit “piggybacking” violates rules and regulations governing the use of federal park space for First Amendment rallies.  The Blaze has confirmed that neither Kangas nor the ISO notified the NPS that SEIU and MoveOn.org would be holding a joint protest, as required by Park Service regulations.

It’s not clear why the NPS police at the scene did not question organizers about this regulation, but the NPS’ Division of Park Programs confirmed to The Blaze that such a violation should have resulted in a revoked permit and potential fines for permit holders Kangas and the ISO.

The Blaze also contacted officials in permit offices in several other cities across the country where rallies took place.  In New York City, Democrats.com LLC applied for and received a permit for their protest.  In Oklahoma City, a permit was issued to MoveOn.org while protesters in Baltimore, Md., operated with no permit.

    sounds like several laws were broken,and that soros had his hands in all of them,he and his leftwing lying commie sucking friends will and would do anything to push their agenda,it is time the rest of the media wakes up or just quits all together i would hope that the f b i would look into what laws were broken and file charges against each person involved ,i know that is wishful thinking,soros probably has just as much money invested in the f b i and a t f than he does in n p r . wake up people and bring these morons to the light so everyone will see and know who and what kind of slimy worthless people we are dealing with.starting with the snakes head george soros.

    I read Media Matters daily. I looked at the page that states their goal as “correcting misinformation from conservative news sources”. Funny, wouldn’t it be a more effective site if it corrected misinformation from ALL news sources? Couldn’t have an agenda, could it? It’s nothing but an online rag that is directed exclusively at Fox News and Glenn Beck. This Soros-funded idiocy makes him look like an moron, not a world mover and shaker.     A “SALT” registry should be created online to help combat this unfair labor practice. The injured parties (small business owners and their honest employees) should post the names, addresses, vehicle and driver’s license information as well as any other legally-obtained personal information (e.g., public court records, pictures of these union maggots from mugshots and any company-issued ID, phone numbers and email address, etc), as well as the names and any additional identifying information about their known union thug associates…etc of ANY such “salts” on a website created for the purpose of outing these vermin. That way, any “interested” party (possible future employers , or“friends”) can shun them as the enemies of the honest working people they truly are.

    These union extortionists and thugs should be known far and wide as the pariahs they are.

    Surprised ? no.. Is it news? maybe not to MSM,,, but consider, since the modern media era, the left has been on incremental snail pace endeavor to rig the game, rule by rule, vote by vote, law by law, district by district and they often did this right under the nose of everyday freedom loving Americans until we get to these days when all of their well laid plans has come to “now or never” movement.
    It is important, more so now than ever, to expose every little nuance of the progressive movement’s discrepancies and rule breaking ways to call out to any that can see, that these people could care a less about the people of America and only seek to subvert America and supplant her way of life with an over reaching power grab in hopes to implement a dictatorial regime of control.

    I totally agree with your predictions. I would add that ‘older people’ will be left to die.. i.e. no treatments approved for them by Obamacare. This way they save money and have only clueless young people to brainwash/control.
    They have a grand plan and it is working.. sad to say.. because enough Americans are asleep and/or just don’t believe it is happening and even if they do believe it they say.. there’s nothing I can do about it.. that’s what my friends said to me the other day.. what will it take? the apathy/resignation frustrates me.. I guess when their money is taken directly from their bank accounts ( as buried in Obamacare) and put directly in the accounts of those who deserve JUSTICE..( as defined by commie racial profiler Holder) then it will be too late

    Come on people, this is easy to explain; MoveOn, SEIU and ISO “collaborated” with planned parenthood as a “friend of the protester” in that pp is a “social [ist]“ organization that promotes the ”American Dream” of providing at least three abortions per female before the age of thirty. SEIU supports the “American Dream” of pp by promoting the part about getting a union, public sector job so you never have to worry about “Working” again, as case in point; “The Evil Scott Walker” trying to uh, “Kill babies” and he’s “Racist” and a uh “Homophobic” and “Destroy the middle Class” … it all fits quite nicely, such a “Big Tado” about nothing…

    These aren‘t the prog’s you’re looking for, you don’t need to see their permits … Moveon …

    Don’t think that Obummer will lose just yet. Remember Pat Quinn won 3 counties in Illinois and still somehow won the election. Dead people and children and illegals will be voting in droves for that election. Reguardless if he wins or not there may be rioting anyways.

    It looks like the park service gave them a quick turn-a-round on their application. 1 day, I wonder if that’s normal turn-a-round for the permit application process?

      No surprise that their permits weren’t questioned. It seems the police and security forces are in the pockets of the unions and that is a very bad thing.       This is petty, we need to get them on a lot more than misdemeanors. We need to win the debate of public opinion and change the laws to reflect the conscience of the majority of American’s and not just the minority because they scream louder.       Collusion: verb When one union or communist group decides to break the law the union park police act with them to break park police laws and regulation. IE: the ISO broke the law working with the SEIU and MoveOn.org. and the (SEIU) Park police officer working in collusion with the ISO allowed them to break the Park Department law.
