See Seattle Police Use Percussion Grenades to Dispel Occupy Protesters

The Occupy movement has taken its never-ending crusade to the nation’s ports. On Monday evening, police in Seattle, Washington, used “flash bang” percussion grenades to remove protesters who were blocking the entrance to a Port of Seattle facility. A strong police response purportedly occurred after protesters began throwing bricks, paint and other materials at authorities.

Below, watch the chaos unfold:

The protesters had begun setting up aluminum and wooden crates in front of the entrance to Terminal 5, so law enforcement officially swooped in and put a stop to their efforts. Their response apparently included pepper spray in addition to the percussion grenades. Here’s what the SPD Blotter had to say about the incident:

On December 12th demonstrators gathered on Harbor Island near Terminal 5 at the Port of Seattle. Demonstrators subsequently blocked vehicular traffic at Harbor Island and began throwing flares (which burns at 1400 degrees Fahrenheit), bags of bricks and paint, rebar (pictured above) and other debris at the police officers and police horses monitoring the demonstration. At least one officer was injured after being struck in the face with a bag of paint. The officer was treated at the scene by SFD medics and did not require transportation.

The West Seattle Herald produced a news report that documents the drama at Terminal 5 and Terminal 18. Traffic was apparently halted for 20 minutes as a result of the protestes’ actions. The Herald has more:

Around 5 pm police lined up their bikes and 3 horses and began to forcibly move the people off the street near Terminal 18 and to remove some of the pieces of junk that had been used to form a makeshift barricade that had blocked traffic. People screamed and shouted angrily as they were forced back, Pepper spray, a flash grenade and just brute strength were used to move everyone back to the sidewalk and off the roadway. Many had previously left to go to Terminal 5 as they announced to the crowd that the purpose of the protest had been accomplished, they had “shut down all the ports on the West Coast. Police did make arrests for protestors who had laid down on railroad tracks.

      Since when is a brick not lethal? I commend the police in each of these instances for their ability to not respond in kind. Some tool coming at me with a brick gets the tap tap scan routine.

Get real ,look at whats happening Michele won‘t make first base with the voter’s, understand not everyone is into your Jesus thing some believe in a God but not (maybe) like you with the pray on everything stile. Some think that man can grow up by his own means (God wants us to help ourselves) not pray ourselves into the ground.       Why are we getting our panties in a bunch over who we think is better at beating Obama so early in the race? We haven’t had the first primary vote yet. As history has shown us, there is no guarantee who will be the nominee until we have the primaries and the Republicans vote. Cool your jets people, lets bring this debate when we know who the nominee will be. Until then, vote for who you want, who most possesses your values, the one you want, not the one the left media says you want. And defiantly not the one you think will be better against Obama at this particular time. Lets wait until after the primaries to decide who we will vote for. As for me, I support Rick Santorum because he has the same values and ideals I have. But then again, when its down between Obama and who ever, I would vote for a can of tuna before I would vote Obama….Just sayin….

      This Republican is voting for Ron Paul unless someone other than Gingrich or Romney comes forward. I can’t stand Romney or Gingrich. Normally I‘d vote straight Republican but If RP is an Independent then he’ll get my vote. I WILL NOT vote for Gingrich or Romney no matter what! Every other Republican will get my vote though.

    The longer that this is allowed to go on, the more volatile the final outcome will be. This should have nipped in the bud at the very start. I’d have a serious problem with someone jumping on my car and kicking it as I was trying to go to work. I‘d pray that I wouldn’t have a gun or a blunt object to swing around if that happened because the temptation to strike back would be unbearable.

      If I got ambushed by a bunch of people who started attacking my car I believe I would run them over. I’m not going to risk my life with them. I don’t want to hurt anyone, but I’m simply not going to risk myself over their stupidity. If they are violent then they can expect to find violence.     Round them all up! Create tent cities like Sheriff Arpiao, make them wear pink jumpsuits and house them until they can come up with bail money. Bail should be set at $1,000 per person to alleviate the strain on the city’s finances caused by these idiots. Anybody throwing bricks or firebombs at police should be charged with attempted murder of a public official.

    I have a problem with these Percussion Grenades. Why not just hose these people down with some good old water? Doesn’t look very warn there, how long do you think they would stand around. Its almost like the Police are just practicing on these OWS protesters. With bills like the National Defense Authorization Act

      I completely agree! Why waste a good grenade when you can use free water to accomplish the same goal! However, if water were used, it would have the same effect on the police who might get some spray from it or get caught in the main-spray. So, I guess one is as good as the other. As to the protestors: stupid is as stupid does! Get violent with the police and they have EVERY right to get violent with you! Idiots.

      It seems like common sense to not allow lawlessness to gain a foothold, be successful in their stated goal to truly shut down crucial transportation hubs that supply We The People. The Occupy America protesters are the most stupid and ignorant people of the nation. They repeat their orders like mindless robots and ask and say the most inane things. asking the police, “Who do you protect?” Obviously not America’s enemies, those who seek to bring down and collapse the very freedoms that make this nation the envy of the world. People around the globe either want to come here and enjoy our freedom or they complain because they do not enjoy our prosperity.

      Freedom of speech does not mean one can do so at the expense of the freedoms of others. It does not mean that self-described occupiers may abscond any venue they please and speak at the expense of
      others who are shouted down after lawfully being permitted and paying for said venue. Freedom of assembly does not mean that occupiers may violate laws enacted to facilitate the rights of other citizens to travel about the nation for business or pleasure.

      These occupiers are so ignorant and mindless that they believe it their right to arbitrarily negate the rights of other citizens to travel without mindless delay or to arrive at their chosen destination and not have their rights further violated by inconsiderate boobs.

      At 22 degrees outside last night, water would be bad for the police. Mess of things for a long while. Don’t care about the hippie loosers; freeze them for another 20 years until the next generation forgets and bring them out again.

    As a father of several children I recognized exactly what was happening. They were having a temper tantrum. Spanking would not help much here since many of them were too fat to feel it. They have fire trucks and even better fire boats in Seattle. If you think a fire truck can spank pretty hard, wait until they move in the fire boats.     I live east of Seattle across the lake. It’s jerks like this that have made a complete mess of downtown Seattle. I never go down there any more if I don’t have to. I’m amazed at the restraint of the Seattle police. The guy in the Ski jacket and the megaphone at the beginning of the vid was not one of the usual downtown trash. He was probably a union guy.

      Time to bring out the fire hoses-like last week when a mob of 50 teens surrounded a girls house. Yes, there are bad memories and images from the civil rights marches, and rightly so because they were peaceful protests. These people are not.

    US Customs and Border Patrol considers Ports vital to national security. Why is this group getting a free pass? Who is really behind the push to close our ports? What’s next, airports/malls/major highways. Playing nice is great, but when will authority start arresting the ring leaders.

    If next summer gets bad, lock ‘em up and put them to work to fix our roads and whatever needs improvement. They need a trade (they’ve “overused” their minds!), and I, for one, do not care to feed, clothe or water them for free.

    I know we can’t do this in the U.S., but we never should have stopped CONCEPTS like the chain gain and road crews. Kept everyone busy, did something with “extra energy” and taught one of two things, how to work or more about a type of REAL WORK someone may not want to do for their entire life.

    “Cruel and unusual punishment”? They’re already “unusual” and as far as “cruel,” I work everyday, manually, farming, and if the type of labor I’m suggesting is cruel, so is producing your and their food!

    The useful idiots strike again. Causing havoc, making a mess, rioting against the police, and inconveniencing other hard working Americans. These protests have turned into nothing but left wing flash mobs looking to forward their Soros funded socialist cause. The red fist logo on the Occupy Seattle twitter feed is a great indicator of the communist/Marxist ideology behind these protests. Anyone supporting them and their cause is either a Marxist themselves or they’re stupid.

    Also, notice how these protestors haven’t fired a gun yet? They’re waiting for someone on the other side (police, a “crazed right-winger”, etc) to be the one to “cast the first stone” in response to their violence. Then Obama and the Dems can swoop in, cite their right to free speech and our “violent attitude” as they love to say, and disarm us practically overnight. It‘s what they’re waiting for. These mobs are violent. But we cannot meet their violence with violence for we’ll be the ones to lose. Stay vigilant.

      Oh come now, they will be disarming nobody. We outgun them about 100 to 1, and I know that I, and many like me, won’t be submissively reporting to turn in my weapons.
