See Students Try to Explain Why They Support Affirmative Action…But Not in Sports

Oliver Darcy and the team at ExposingLeftists.com has produced yet another gem of a video. You‘ll remember that they’re the group that likes to go to college campuses and expose hypocrisy by asking students to sign various petitions. This time, they tackled affirmative action. And the results are both hilarious and disconcerting.
From the video’s description:
Many students support affirmative action, in an effort to promote diversity. They argue that race-based preferences “level the playing field” for disadvantaged minorities. However, these same students refused to sign our petition to apply such policies to the basketball team. At UC Riverside — where the video was filmed — 10/11 active players on the team are African American. Why not use affirmative action to promote diversity there?
It’s definitely worth the four and a half minutes to see the students say they support affirmative action, but then stumble and fumble as they try to explain why “skill” should be the deciding factor, not race, and that using affirmative action in sports is just “different:”

Posted on June 14, 2011 at 7:45amThese guys are good at exposing the hypocracy on our nation’s college campuses, sadly I see those exact same kind of responses at the University of Memphis in my psychology, sociology and english literature classes from both my professors and under 30 student population.
Now I just wonder what kind of response they would receive if they chose to burn various religious books, and judge the actions of the students based on which one is being burned at the time….
My bet is that the bomb-making manual of the mohammids would get the biggest response against book burning.

Report Post »When they enforced the hiring of muslims, they were told that they did not like to be among the general employees so TXDOT housed them in a separate building on Washington Ave. A big controversy erupted when the toilets were discovered to be pointing toward Mecca. This was not acceptable to our muslim brethren so tax money was spent to correct this horrendous mistake of western civilization.

You can hear it when he asks them “you believe in affirmative action right?” You can hear them struggle to say no, but they‘ve been wired to say ’Yes‘ for so many years that they can’t help it. When asked, the people manning the booth would say that the company is under court order to hire two minorities for each non-minority(white) they hire, to address historical prejudice…
It would be fun to watch the kids who have been programmed to say ‘yes’ to affirmative action feel when it impacts directly on their job prospects…

I’ve seen example after example not just in these interviews but in real life, that lead me to believe that there is not a dumber creature on the planet than a college student. And of course it’s not even their own fault. They’ve passed through 12 years of primary education with little to no effort (usually being softly indoctrinated by progressives all along the way) only to reach the hard-core indoctrination of college professors. If you graduate after four years of college and half of what you learned is wrong, are you smarter or dumber than you went in? The scariest part is that they believe they’re smart.

Force bussed out of area to a lesser more dangerous school system, In the Army had to live to a higher standard then mionorities for promotions( point system different) in the military also like Airborne School women have a far less physical standard to complete same training, in military as well in training blocks whites went on details as minorities took sailing lessons or college courses, After military have watched position after position go by and pushed on to far lesser qualified minorities. One great example is the Worcester Ma fire ddept. In the early 90′s no minorities took the test. Hiring was blocked as the city searched across the state for minorites to take job( whites have to live in the city) after a year search they found some Portugese Cape Verdians from New Bedford to take the job. It is sickening. I am now dealing with white discrimination as my children go to college. Minorities have a much lower standard, actually minorities have no standards.

I have been in many “debates” where one person picks a cliche statement like:
“Religion is the reason for war and death!”
In one of my previous English classes, they brought this up, and my rebuttal was the following:
“I find it hard to believe that religion alone is the sole contributor to warfare. I tend to believe that religion CAN be used for warfare, but in the same way that many topics are. If you individuals really believe that religion causes warfare than can anyone tell me the state religion of the former U.S.S.R. who was responsible for many human rights violations?”
Everyone in class was silent, the funny part is as the class progressed many people really embraced anti leftist policy. (Not to suggest that neocons are greater than leftists) I believe that students particularly get bombarded by leftist ideology, but once you approach them logically, most can be reasoned with.

What about disadvantaged whites? Numerically, there are more whites in this country than poor blacks. There are also more poor Hispanics in this country than blacks, but we see neither group whining about wanting to be given things they haven’t earned.
The brutal truth is this: Blacks are the least intelligent race on earth. For years now every possible scenario has been tried to get them into the mainstreamn, but it’s been a total disaster, because blacks here have a group I.Q. of just 85, which means, as a group, they will continue to lag behind whites, Asians, Hispanics, and American Indians no matter what is attempted. Studies reveal poor people in these groups do better than wealthy blacks.
Affirmative action is no more than a tidbit thrown to blacks to keep them from rioting by leftist whites who fear a loss of power and assets if a lid isn’t kept on the civil situation. They’ve extended AA to cover grading and accreditation and the result is worthless pieces of paper held by blacks that are meaningless. They‘re worth no more than the paper they’re written on.
It’s been said by many that Hispanic inundation is being encouraged by those who want them to replace blacks completely, because they’re more intelligent, reliable, and they’re better workers.

That argument could have easily been disassembled by pointing out the differences between natural ability athletically and learned ability intellectually. I think they could have come up with a better argument but then again I see why they did because sitting here now I can’t think other than athletically where Blacks dominate to create one.
Affirmative action is insulting period for those that don’t get the job and for the ones that do. The only thing you are affirming is incompetence.

I could be totally wrong and sure that I am in many cases. I automatically think that some other “non-brown” person was discriminated against and they were given special treatment to meet some sort of quota. That is what AA has done. I makes all of the hard work that they put in to get there worthless, because nobody believes you got it fair and square. Once you GIVE something freely, you shouldn’t be trying to take it back. You definitely shouldn’t be taking what is not yours in the first place (like slaves and land), and then cry when the people it belonged to try to take it back from you, and then cry when you’re made inferior by the advances of said slaves, whether that be political advances, social advances, athletic advances, academic advances, or otherwise.

One of my best friends Stan a strong and able black man was neck and neck with me all through college grade wise. We had a mutual and friendly rivalry going on that. It was a great friendship that we ended up with. He is smart and athletic. We should all stop fomenting these things more and affirmative action is one of the factors that keeps this problem revolving. His father is a doctor, which we all know you must have the grades for. Would you let an affirmative action awarded doctor work on you and your kids or would you want the best one you could find?
It’s not all relative. It really is more subjective. There are overt racists out there but we cannot redesign society around them. They must be weeded out and exposed for what they are. Affirmative action does let them continue to hide and do their thing.

What non-black is stupid enough to allow a black to operate on them in the first place? You won’t find any whites who would agree to it, and even fewer HIspanics, and still fewer Asians, Asian Indians, or American Indians.
Most people in this country would not feel unusually apprehensive about a non-black doctor, but the vast majority of all non-blacks KNOW there are just too many unqualified blacks being given freebie diplomas and are set loose on the public.
It’s true also with pharmacists. An Hispanic person in my area tells of the incident where his jaw was cracked during a robbery. His jaw had to be wired shut. The black female pharnacist filled his scrip and noted on the bottle: Gargle then SWALLOW. The guy looked up the drug on the internet and noted the warning: Do not swallow. Will cause vomiting. The pharmacist was notified and in an irritating manner demanded the bottle be returned and she would correct the instructions. If the man had vomited with his jaw wired shut, he would have choked to death.
Beware of unqualified blacks as doctors and writing and filling prescriptions. Your life is at stake!

My answer would have been, some fields require an innate talent that really can not be enhanced that much through training and exercise, such as art, music, and sports. However, we all have the ability to learn basic skills in Math, Science, and other topics used in business. Granted- some people have an innate ability to excel in these fields beyond what some might consider normal, but, affirmative action is not about weeding out the best people for the job. It is about choosing one race over another when all other variables are equal. ITS STILL WRONG IMO. But, what many people fail to realize is that a company or organization gets tax benefits for hiring minorities. So when you calculate their ROI considering two candidates for a job, one black and the other white, and all other variables are equal- hiring the black person gives them a better rate of return.

I recognized this a couple of years back while earning my degree. My individual effort, skill, and talent was constantly at odds while working on mandatory team projects. Inherently, my grade was beholden to how well the group did, not the amount of effort or skill that I put in. And to make matters worse- if you got pissed off because some team members wouldn’t do their fair share or provided sloppy work, you were viewed as a bad team player by the instructor and administration. So- basically higher learning institutions are promoting meritocracy as long as the team members worked well together to provide half-arse work.

Classrooms benefit from discussions were there is a diversity of students from any back grounds. Additionally, the inner city and the poor rural student have historically been at a disadvantage from under funded schools.
In sports is a pure test of ones physical abilities in a given sport.

Here is why it AA needs to stay, at least in the the short term, look at the school sin teh inner cities, they have been abandoned decades ago. One of the clear facts of Brown v. Board of Ed. is that generations of seperate schools have production a vast gully between the races in terms of advantages, while one race was given all the perks, the other was given the scrapes. However he seems to anger easily and starts making posts that hurt his credibility. By resorting to name calling and claiming to be in favor of affirmative action and welfare – those things aren’t compatible with a reasonable, responsible Libertarian position. My advice to Sinista would be to let his intelligence guide his posts and not his anger. Not that he would want my advice, I’m a police officer and he clearly believes that police are evil. Define Academic performance, and then define Athletic Performance.
If you’re literate, you will soon realize they’re entirely different activities.

should that same diversity be used to get more unathletic whites into sports positions they aren’t qualified for by denying qaulified blacks.Should it lower the standards to guarantee whites get in positions. How is affirmative action any different when it denys a white person a scholarship and replaces him with a black person with lower GPA. As for an “all black school” I’m not sure that exists. Even your school wasn’t all black, unless your black too. I went to school with just about every skin color of people. I have been to Brazil several times and have been to every continent but one. Many times my skin color was the minority but I was treated just as everyone else most of the time and when I was not the very few times it was by rude insecure individuals who viewed me and my skin as a threat. Who would you rather perform surgery on your loved ones? A doctor who was accepted to and graduated from Harvard medical because he was the best, or a doctor who barely eked in with the help of some race credits and graduated near the bottom?
Who do you want shooting baskets on your favorite team? A point guard who got in because he was the best, or a point guard who got in because the team needed to fill some stupid, arbitrary quota?
It’s the same damn thing, no matter how you spin it. If my daughter needs surgery to remove a cyst from her neck, I want the best GD doctor I can get–I don’t give a damn if he (or she, for that matter) is purple with yellow polka dots. Equality would dictate that if you are going offer special programs help blacks in the realm of academic scholarships.
You most offer special programs for whites in the realm of athletic scholarships.,
If you’re going to require business lower their standard so that more black can meet requirements
You must require pro team to lower standards so that more whites can requirements.
If you’re going to use diversity and racial quota in the employment industries You must use those same quota in the pro-sports industries.

Athletics aren’t the same as academics. We could have this argument all day, and it’s still the same result.
Athletics are not academics. They are two different things.
You can say that “you’re a racist for supporting Affirmative Action”, but you sound like an utter fool.
You can play stupid as to not know why Affirmative Action is needed, but it doesn‘t change anything in anyone else’s mind. Trying to diminish the argument to simply “academics and athletics are the same” doesn’t work, because they are NOT the same.
Ability is Ability. Academics are NOT Athletics. Affirmative Action isn’t about “ability”. It’s about negating institutional racism with government sponsored institutional counter-racism. They cancel each other. My support for government sponsored institutional counter-racism doesn’t make me a racist. It makes me anti-institutional racism.
Affirmative Action says “Does institutional racism exist? Affirmative. This is the Action.”

Apparently, everybody DOESN‘T understand that academics and athletics aren’t the same.
Apparently, you don’t understand that institutional racism exists, and that’s why Affirmative Action is needed, at least until the Federal Reserve is abolished and free market economics allowed to reign, which would marginalize racists.

It’s not institutional racism to hire the most qualified person.How dare they hire the best people for the job. It not institution racism to give all applicant the same test and only hiring those who have the ABILITY to score at the hiring level.
It is governmental institutional racist policy to consider the race and the sex of applicant in the hiring process. It is institution racism and counter productive policies that require standards be lowered to so the racial and sexual quotas can be reached. It’s is the VERY DEFINITION OF RACISM AND SEXISM TO CONSIDER EITHER WHEN PROVIDING EMPLOYMENT,EDUCATIONAL LOAN,COLLEGE PLACEMENT,GOVERNMENT CONTRACTS,TAX INCENTIVES,AND PROMOTIONS.
To say it isn’t is a lie and a racist lie at that. And to say that business shouldn’t be allowed to hire the best people for the job reguardless of color or sex. But athletic scholarships and pro-sports teams positions should only go to the best candidates for the position at the same time is Hypocritical.

You haven’t a clue about equality. In your world EQUALITY is giving blacks special educational,financial,and employment entitlement because they lack the ABILITY to do it on their own.
You would deny whites that have higher GPA’S ,test better and have a better business plans the opportunity to better themselves if they are competeing with a black that has lower test scores,lower GPA, and no real long term business plans.
