See the Clever Way Some Israelis are Taking Website Hacks from Arab Nations and Mocking Them

Seemingly resigned to the fact that Internet attacks are not going to stop any time soon, a number of Israelis have decided to make the best out of a bad situation.
Joining forces with the ad agency McCann Digital Israel, students from the Israeli school of advertising and art, HaBezefer, decided to redesign aggressive web hacks to make them more interesting to look at.
Rather than a black screen with online lingo like “!!own3d!!,” the Israeli students left the original intent of the hack in place, but supplemented the designs with colors and pictures.

McCann Digital art director Nir Refuah told Business Insider that “Israel is under constant cyber attacks each month, dozens of Israeli websites are being hacked by Arab hacker groups and replaced with anti-Israeli web pages.”
So if you can’t beat them, they say, “redesign them.”

In a page explaining their reasoning, the students and McCann lamented the “uninspired designs… black background, grotesque low-res images and unbearable amounts of text.”
So they took fifty hacked sites and redesigned them, and then sent the renovated pages back to the hackers with a hearty message.

“We would like to end all cyber wars between Israel and Arab nations,” the email to the original hackers reads. “If you find that hard to do, let’s take the first step together.”
“The next time you hack into an Israeli website, please use this more cheerful design we created especially for you and your hacking group.”
Because if you can’t fight them, the Israelis reiterate, redesign them.

Posted on July 24, 2012 at 1:16amSomehow it still looks like the Arabs and/or Muslims win this one. I mean, how does showing bombs and missiles launching from a mosque supposedly “burn” the Muslims. Muslims have never denied attacking Israel, other than to claim it is in retaliation. I guess you have to be Israeli to get these jokes, because to me, a disinterested 3rd party, it’s a toothless counterattack.
