It’s set to be one of the most controversial movies released in recent memory. “Zero Dark Thirty” chronicles the ten-year manhunt for Osama Bin Laden. The story line will undoubtedly climax with the killing of Bin Laden by U.S. Navy’s elite SEAL Team Six, but a great deal of the back story and intelligence behind the raid remains a mystery. The movie has hurtled the sensitive election season with a release date in December and promises to be a worthy follow up by director Kathryn Bigelow, who won best picture in 2009 for “The Hurt Locker” — a white-knuckle drama profiling a bomb squad unit in Iraq.
And today we get one of our first glimpses at the film via an exclusive trailer released to Entertainment Weekly:
Entertainment Weekly addressed the sensitivity of the film in an exclusive interview with the screenwriter Mark Boal, who promised that there is “no political agenda” to the film and stressed that the president is not depicted in the movie whatsoever:
The makers of Zero Dark Thirty insist their film is a study of the unsung heroes who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to take down bin Laden, not a celebration of Obama’s decision. When they made the Iraq War drama The Hurt Locker in 2008, which won them Oscars for Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Picture, Bigelow and Boal were praised (and sometimes slammed) for leaving politics out of the film. They say they’re doing the same thing this time.
“There’s no political agenda in the film. Full stop. Period,” says Boal, a veteran journalist and war correspondent. “A lot of people are going to be surprised when they see the film. For example, the president is not depicted in the movie. He’s just not in the movie.”

I have always liked a good war movie but have avoided the iraq afghan movies, because i was sure they would be full of liberal politics…..There was no politics planted in the hurt locker…..good movie!

“Most Republican Party leaders seem to have lost the stomach for this fight,” said Dan Schnur of the Jesse M. Unruh Institute of Politics at the University of Southern California.
“Some of that results (from) the number of large-scale donors who support same-sex marriage, some of it’s a result in an increasing number of party leaders who support same-sex marriage, and a lot of it is public opinion polling which shows a shift in the way voters feel about same-sex marriage,” he added.

Secretary of Defense Robert Gates (then secretary) said the following:
“Frankly, a week ago Sunday, in the Situation Room, we all agreed that we would not release any operational details from the effort to take out bin Laden. That all fell apart on Monday, the next day.
We are very concerned about the security of our families – of your families and our troops, and also these elite units that are engaged in things like that. And without getting into any details… I would tell you that when I met with the team… they expressed a concern about that, and particularly with respect to their families.”.
Naturally you don‘t want to recall this part of Obama’s “big thing that Bush couldn’t do” right TAMPAXDAVE? The part where Biden’s big mouth and Obama spiking the football and releasing sensitive information cost servicemen their lives. One year today TAMPAXDAVE. Your silence is defeaning and your selective memory is a joke.
But again..please tell me what policy SOLELY Barack Obama’s led to the find of OBL?

I’m not going to watch a propaganda film made by Obama acolytes who got “unprecedented” access to operation details for nothing more than making a propaganda film for Barack Obama.
We forget far too quickly..A YEAR TODAY a helicopter was shot down carrying many of the SEAL team who took down OBL because Biden is an incompetent boob who can’t keep his mouth from flapping and Obama wanted some cheap praise for political points.

And it turns out..Valerie Jarrett was the one delaying the operation for months because the ditherer- in-chief needs to have a political skew on everythign he does.

Not to mention that Mark Boal shares screenwriting credit for the anti-American/anti-Bush/anti-US Armed Forces liberal-love fest “In the Valley of Elah.” Not exactly the cornerstone of praising the heroics of our fine men and women in uniform.
Oh! And really, The Blaze? We’re going to skip over the information that “fell into the laps” of Boal and Kathryn Bigelow?

^Hope that’s true. There seems to be a trend in the left showing American Soldiers as baby killers or murderers of the innocence. Good to see another movie showing the troops for what they truly are, heroes.
