New images are coming out of China that show roughly 500 dogs stuffed so tightly in a cargo truck that they can barely move. The helpless animals were reportedly on their way to slaughter to be turned into meat for China’s disturbing dog meat trade.
While we can’t show the photos due to copyright restrictions, all of them can be viewed here.
More than 20 animal rights activities attempted to stop the vehicle at a service station on the Jingha Highway but were ultimately unsuccessful as they were attacked by a group of thugs and beaten back, the Daily Mail reports.
Some of the dogs were already dead and others were severely ill due to the appalling treatment and the hot weather.
The next stop for the desperate animals who were clinging to life will likely be dinner plates at restaurants throughout the country.
“We feel very powerless. God please save the dogs,” one activist reportedly said.
The incident wasn‘t the first time that China’s animal rights activists have attempted to save innocent dogs from being inhumanely rounded up and slaughtered for meat.
Sickeningly, after an animal is chosen for sale, it is bludgeoned with an iron bar, bringing it close to death before it is purchased. Truly heartbreaking.
The Daily Mail has more details:
One group was more successful earlier this year when a truck carrying 505 canines packed into just 156 tiny cages, was stopped on Yunnan Province’s highway from Fumin to Kunming after other drivers spotted its sickening cargo.
Protesters posted pictures and comments about the load on the Chinese equivalent of Twitter, Weibo, prompting the police to stop the lorry at the next toll gate.
The trade and transportation of animals in China has come in for criticism by campaigners in the West.
Some of the huge markets which sell dogs and cats to restaurants for slaughter and human consumption came under international spotlight several years ago after being the suspected origin of the deadly SARS virus.
In one of the large markets, on a 60-acre site in Guangzhou, China, cages of dogs and cats – some of them bred as domestic pets – are piled high.

Those dogs probably came from the US. Dog is a popular meal in China. You do not want to know what other things the Chinese like to eat.

Posted on July 24, 2012 at 8:01pmFirst of all: DOGS are ANGELS in Disguise. They are here to comfort loving owners. Protect families; rescue kids. ONLY demonic b@stards treat them like Michael Vick did or these creeps in China. PEOPLE who don’t know or want to know God have NO regard for other living beings. I just gave my dogs more hugs. Don’t buy anything Chinese. Those Chinese Americans are here for freedom, they work hard, they escaped and many have become Christians…there are many Christians over in China too. Man’s Cruelty to other living beings just flattens me.

Posted on July 24, 2012 at 8:15pmOur government has been empowered to keep this from happening here, and only here in the U.S. Everywhere else in the world does anything they want with any of the animals they choose. We call it abuse, they call it prepping to butcher. If we tried to load cattle like this we would be put in prison. But, we keep sending our tax dollars over there to help these “enlightened” people. I just wish someone could give me a coherent reason why we keep wasting our money.

Posted on July 25, 2012 at 1:33amI care! Dogs deserve other kind of treatment not this brutal disgusting cruelty…. And Worst! Before put them in these cages, they have been beaten with sticks, really ground to a pulp because the Chinese believe that this is done the meat tender. They are sore and terrified! This is an inconceivably evil, these people are incapable of feeling empathy for the suffering of these defenseless animals.

Posted on July 25, 2012 at 9:36amI am a dog lover, mine is laying next to me as I type. HOWEVER, this is a prime example that the western mind doesn’t understand other cultures. When we try to place our values as values of all men is where we err. Because we are compassionate, honor human life, the fair treatment of animals, etc., etc., doesn’t mean these people think the way we do. This is why trying to rationalize with these people (Chinese, Arabs, Indians and even Japanese) with western values does not work. We honor and value life, they do not. I am speaking of the people in these lands, not necessarily immigrants.
By the way just ordered a great shirt for my dog and myself. It says Mutts for Mitt, I would rather be in the crate, than on a plate.

Posted on July 25, 2012 at 2:46pmActually, FREEDOMOVERFEAR is 100% correct in the original comment. To all dog lovers like myself, our hearts break when we see this. Nobody likes cruelty or injustice, but those who do not understand freedom will slam their fists down and say, “Enough!” They will seek to MAKE this trade stop.
The underlying principle here is agency, man’s ability to choose. If we take it upon ourselves to eliminate every man-made vice, then where do we stop? The solution is not regulation. It is education. It is teaching correct principles and allowing others to govern themselves. If we FORCE people to do it our way, there is no learning, no personal breakthroughs, no repentance, no progression. We relinquish the very purpose of our being on the earth.
We must set up governments that reflect the will of the majority. If the majority choose wickedness, they must live with the consequences. If the government silences the voice of the people through corruption in order to misrepresent the majority, then it is the responsibility of that populace to overthrow the government and establish a new one that protects liberty.

These defenseless creatures are going to be served in restaurants… But first, before to be slaughtered they are beaten with big poles and no compassion… and that is when they are still alive to make them more tender…Their pain and their sufferance are horrendous. This is pure evil of China government .

Posted on July 24, 2012 at 6:40pmI don’t think that actually eating of the dogs is nearly as much of an issue as the method of harvest. Cattle in America is treated far better than the Chinese treat the dogs they are sending to slaughter. The American Indians revered the animals that they took for food. Meanwhile, the Chinese torture the dogs prior to killing them because they believe that a dog that is in pain and panic-stricken produces more tender and tasty meat. It’s barbaric.
If American cattle ranchers treated their livestock half as poorly as the Chinese treated their’s, there would be justifiable outrage.
