See the New Batman ‘The Dark Night Rises’ Trailer Everyone’s Talking About — Notice Any Occupy Themes?

New Batman The Dark Knight Rises Trailer Notice Occupy Themes?

During my morning news search, it seems one-in-three sites I visited had something about the new Batman “The Dark Night Rises” trailer posted. So I watched it. And now I’m posting it, too.

But before you send the emails about it being “not news,” consider this: there are some eerie similarities between today’s May Day protests and what you will see in the trailer. In short, a small group of people wreaking havoc on New York City. In fact, “Catwoman,” played by Anne Hathaway, says in the trailer, “There’s a storm coming.” Sound familiar? And the main villain claims to be “Gotham’s reckoning.” Sound like any rhetoric you’ve heard?

New Batman The Dark Knight Rises Trailer Notice Occupy Themes?

New Batman The Dark Knight Rises Trailer Notice Occupy Themes?

Sure, there are exploding bridges and stadiums in the movie, which isn’t to suggest that Occupy Wall Street is planning acts of terrorism (although the group has said it will shut down NYC tunnels and bridges). But it’s worth noting that the movement was birthed out of a plan for economic terrorism. And the trailer even shows action being taken against, you guessed it, Wall Street (see above picture). In fact, back in November, we brought you behind-the-scenes photos of the movie shooting riot scenes in New York’s Financial District, where an angry mob faced off against police. Here’s some of the production video:

“After you see some of these photos and the video, you may want to go back and compare them to scenes of chaos in Oakland last week, and decide for yourself if this is an eerie case of life imitating art, or art imitating life,” Buck Sexton wrote at the time.

And now take a look at the new trailer and ask the same question:

While I don’t appreciate your disparaging language, I do agree with your point. I don’t see why anyone would boycott this film over a “common theme”. It is very much in line with the Batman comic storyline, with some surprises thrown in to keep it exciting.

Are we going to boycott DC comics next?

Obama’s New Campaign Slogan “Forward!” Is a Hitler Youth Marching Tune

Barack Obama’s latest campaign slogan “Forward!” also happens to be a Nazi marching tune.
Vorwärts! Vorwärts! was a marching song of the Hitler youth.

      What a shock.

I don’t believe in organized boycotts period. Boycotts are intended to change public opinion about certain issues using peer pressure and fear. If an endeavor fails it should fail by each individual deciding on his or her own that they personally do not want to take part in it, not by groupthink.

What you fail to understand is that the OWS movement, whatever it initially intended, has becme a terrorist organization. They have plans to bomb bridges (they were caught thankfully) and buildings and care not if innocent people are killed. Sound familiar? These are not far right wing nut jobs. They are far left nut jobs. I couldn’t care less if people go to see this movie or not. But to show your “compassionate”, “tolerant” liberal side in the rant above demands a informative response so you may understand some people’s anxiety about glorifying terrorism.

You can’t say, with any accuracy, that OWS is anything more than bus full of professional protesters going wherever cameras may be rolling, and anarchy is definitely one of the goals of their mission since they attempt to ignore laws wherever they go.. How is it possible that so many of you seem completely ignorant and oblivious? Where have you all been for the last year? Day 1, NYC – The Days of Rage group and socialist student groups were on Wall Street protesting. They were joined by union groups off and on until October, when the vast majority of their numbers swelled for their “October Revolution”.

The active words here to remember are “anarchist” and “communist”. That’s Bill Ayers, Bernadine Dorn, Cloward and Piven stuff right there. They’ve convinced a bunch of useful idiot college students that there is possible synergy between anarchy and communism. This has been the topic of conversation on The Blaze, glennbeck.com, and YouTube (as well as a whole slew of other places on the Internet) for months. Anarchist-communism. They’ve been told that if they force anarchy people will voluntarily become a communist society – for the benefit of all.

Now, in addition to the anarchist-communist/socialist main body of OWS, regular anarchists, communists, Nazis, and socialists as well as environmentalists and scientific government (essentially communism) advocates are all participating together. Throw in union people who may or may not be socialist, who are essentially there because the union told them to be and a handful of asinine libertarians and you have the rounded out field of who makes up OWS. Get it? Got it? Good.

Who decreed that? Did the movement do it itself?

Kind of paradoxical, no? A movement without a spokesperson had someone speak on behalf of the movement?

In any case, if your argument is that by anarchists associating with it it therefore becomes an anarchist movement, then I take further issue because I can promise that there are many participating that are NOT anarchists. In which case the movement would also speak for them.

Hence, you cannot possibly argue that it is an anarchist movement because it would also have to be a movement against Anarchy

Come on Blaze…this isn’t a story. Chris Nolan may have alluded to a little of OWS‘s tactics but this story isn’t a construct of Nolan’s. When the character Bane (Dark Knight Rises’ antagonist) was created in the 1990‘s he set about creating chaos by blowing up Arkham Asylum and setting loose it’s inmates on Gotham. This was done to force Batman into exhausting himself re-capturing them thus leaving him vulnerable to Bane’s inevitable assault. In other words..the chaos’ purpose is to get Batman. Nolan isn’t showing any support for OWS I can guarantee you that..if anything it’s painting the anarchists as evil and destructive.

This is why I believe the story will follow the Bane storyline from the comics. We saw Wayne defeated with Bane gloating over him. So, we can probably assume it is post-broken-back.

My prediction: I believe this new character, John Blake, will become an amalgam of Robin & Azrael. He will be the one to take up the mantle of the Batman after Wayne becomes paralyzed.

Batman (Wayne) did not realize Bane’s mask was his achilles heel. But the new hero (Batman/Blake?) will be able to remove the mask, thus debilitating Bane and ultimately defeating him.

I’m not sure. I find it odd that Nolan would add a major character that has no basis in the comics (John Blake–little Johnny Blake notwithstanding). Joseph Gordon-Levitt looks the part of Robin. But in the comics Azrael was who took over (for a short time).

Nolan is marketing this with the tagline “The Legend ENDS”. So, why is the title “Dark Knight RISES”? I believe someone else will rise to take the mantle as Wayne steps down or possibly dies.

There are too many markers that parallel the comic storyline to ignore the passing the mantle as a possible plot element. That‘s all I’m saying.

Epic Fail Blaze – if you did ANY digging around, you would’ve found something more than your presumptions. Christopher Nolan has been on record several times as stating that the inspiration for this film was Charles Dickens‘ ’A Tale of Two Cities’, and that him and his brother began generating this story together 3-4 years ago. Second, the film crew has been on record stating that though they had the opportunity to shoot at Occupy last year, they chose not to. Third, 2008′s The Dark Knight has been hailed by dozens of pro-family, pro-military, pro-Conservative organizations and groups as one of the greatest Conservative films of all time. So certainly the follow up must be the exact opposite? As for the pro-Occupy actors/actresses in the film, even Beck has liberals working for him. If we try to stop working with everyone in our lives whose has differing views than us, than congrats, YOU LIVE IN A CAVE! Protest if you want, but stop engineering monsters under the bed, you may just be burning bridges to allies you don’t realize.
Perhaps this is one thing in culture that isn’t subversively liberal. If you think culture isn’t worth saving, then you‘re just part of the problem because Tea Party Politics can’t save the nation. It can hold the dam, but it can’t re-route the water. Give credit where credit is due – both good and bad. Chris Nolan is a diamond in the rough.

He was in the other two as batman‘s weapon’s designer. I can live with Freeman.

I don’t know. Batman always had a vigilante sort of vibe to it. It also portrays bruce wayne as a “good rich guy” showing that you can‘t be a super hero is you don’t have any money. I’m sorry, but Blankman isn’t going to take down a crime syndicate.

Anne Hathaway is a great casting. At first, I thought she was poison ivy when i saw the trailer a few months ago. Uma Thurman had a few enviro-creep lines in “batman and robin” but cloony said “hey, people come first”.

So I don’t think any social-unrest-type overtones are any problem with this. Batman has always had those sorts of elements. Now, if all of the sudden Superman stood for “Truth, social justice, and Van Jone’s American Dream”, then I think we would have a problem…

the entire Batman series – in all of its forms – other than the 1960′s TV shows – have been a mirror on the where society goes without those that stand.

Bruce Wayne – rich beyond measure and a playboy on the surface – seeking Justice by night. Family made money building and developing technology and military hardware (evil to the Left) but also built hospitals, shelters for the poor, orphanages, and doing humanitarian relief around the world (social responsible and charity driven without government help – ideal of the Right).

Gordan – straight and narrow, incorruptible servant of the people as a police officer but allows a “vigilante” to knowingly operate in his city and helps him as well when the police just can’t do it alone.

Catwoman – thief but uses much of her ill gotten gains to help the environment and animal suffering, plus tempers her “evil” with a love of Batman and helping him, even if she always tries to profit from it at the same time.

Joker – the anti-Batman, sees the darkness and perpetuates it instead of standing against it.

the WHOLE Batman franchise is an exercise in duality…

the OWS crap in this movie is a little over the top, trying to capitalize on the mood of the times… this is what killed the first set of movies…
STICK to Batman graphic novel adaptations!!

I have seen a new poster on facebook of Obama in a dark suit, with a dark, rainy background, his arms stretched out leaning slightly back, with the saying at the bottom – the dark knight rises.

Nolan‘s Batman movies have been about the deeper problems in society that have led to crime and chaos and how humanity isn’t a lost cause. I think that it’s very interesting that Nolan chose this theme for the final act in his trilogy. Based on what I know from his other Batman movies, I imagine that the point will be that the jealousy and anger that drives these people isn’t the answer and that there are those of us (such as Bruce Wayne and Commissioner Gordon) who don’t accept it and will do everything to protect the good people at any cost. I will see it because I‘m a comic book fan and a fan of Nolan’s Batman movies.

I agree that Nolan is taking a stance against the actions of the rioting masses b/c I‘ve seen more than just this trailer and read a little into what the plot is so I am not commenting on things that I don’t really know about, unlike some who have said things without knowing the full plot. For those of you who hadn’t considered it, the story of this film was written in very early 2010, well before the OWS stuff went down. This story is eerily similar to real life events and it was written before most of this stuff really came into the public eye. The movie is going to be worth seeing and I think it will buck against the communist themes that many of you are mistakenly believing to be pro communism.

I am a comic junkie which as an adult woman makes me someone of a nerd but hey, I love these dark night films and cannot wait to see it. The general theme of batman comic books and previous movies before this series has always had the followers, by that I mean the people the useful idiots controlled by the politicians and those controlled by the underworld. Cannot wait.

HOLY AMATEUR, BATMAN! Some of the absolute worst ‘play fighting’ ever witnessed on anything but home video of six year olds hamming it up for the camera. That was so bad that it was funny! There was so much ‘telegraphing’ going on there that they could have worked for Western Union. Even the boobs at the ‘occupy’ movement are more convincing.

Ok everyone that’s bashing this story – it says “eerie similarities” – not intentional propaganda. And even if it was propaganda, wouldn’t it be propaganda for the right, considering the rioters were the bad guys? Whether it be intentional or not, you have to admit that the riot seems/look similar, that‘s all they’re getting at. Chill out.

By the way…can’t WAIT! I love this trilogy.

I wouldn’t pay a dime to see anything Hollywood produces.

Everything that comes out of Socialist/Marxist Hollywood is propaganda for their cause.

@ JoeBtfsplk – Perhaps you should watch an old cancelled television series called “Firefly”. Very, very good if you like science fiction or are a libertarian at heart.

@JediPatriot: You’re right. Though most of what comes out of Hollywood IS left-leaning propaganda, the Firefly series was a breath of fresh air and spoke to us who hate big government and the meddling of bureaucrats in our lives. If you watch the series episodes you can make direct comparisons of the current administration to the woes caused by the fictional Alliance.

No need to watch science fiction. Never have been a fan. I can see what is happening right now, and I have been aware for decades.

      DUDE, firefly was amazing.

      The movie was great too.

I wonder how they can cancel a series with as high ratings as that…don’t you?

But I’d rather live in that time, to be honest. At least you could run to the outer planets and still eek out an existence.

Here, we are trapped. There is nowhere to run and nowhere they can’t find you.

@ TheSoundOfTruth – Why run? This is OUR country. Let’s stay and fight for it. First, let’s do it peacefully by protest (NOT OWS style). When that doesn’t work, we’ll go to the voting booths. When that doesn’t work, let’s do what the founding fathers told us to do. Fight them to the very last.
I own Firefly and Serenity. Not all of Hollywood is marxist and fascist. Joss Whedon is a Libertarian. Adam Baldwin is a tea party member. Nathan Fillion has libertarian leanings. Kurt Russel is a libertarian. Drew Carey is a libertarian. There are a list of them.
Peace (And I‘m thinking that we’re almost past the voting booths)

This is what the Blaze needs to dig for? “Occupy Wallstreet themes in the new BATMAN trailer?” We are all aware that this movie was filmed LAST year right? Way before any news of occupy’s plan broke out.

It’s a freaking batman movie people, not everyone is some hardcore lib looking to promote their agenda. Sheesh.

You’re joking right? You really think Christopher Nolan sits around all day with Occupy Wallstreet and decides to plan his Batman movie around it? You’re clearly delusional for a number of reasons, let me give you a few reasons.

      1. Gotham in the comics and in past movies has always been dark, full of uprisings, and completely full of people trying to “overthrow” the system wayyyyy before anything like Occupy Wallstreet came along.

      2. Christopher Nolan planned the story of Batman WAY before Occupy Wallstreet. Batman begins came out seven years ago. You think he wasn’t working on this script around then? Give me a break.

      3. You clearly have swallowed the kool-aid and really think that everything hollywoods pumps out has this crazy “hidden” agenda. In this case (and in many others) your seeing a movie about batman, and if you had any idea of the history in the comics, cartoons, and movies you would understand this movie is brilliant. but hey you’re right this movie is FULL of “occupy” themes.

No, I don’t. Considering the script and filming had started long before Occupy last year. Come on guys, not everything is a agenda driven conspiracy.

Batman’s a rich guy who spends his money as he wants it on toys and gadgets.

As for the chaos. Uh, the last Die Hard movie was like that with the chaos. And about 100 other movies. Stop looking for things that don’t exist and focus on those things that do.
