See the Tense Faces Inside White House Situation Room as the Raid Went Down

WASHINGTON (AP) — From halfway around the world, President Barack Obama and his national security team monitored the strike on Osama bin Laden’s compound in real time, watching and listening to the firefight that killed the terrorist leader.
Gathered in the White House Situation Room, members of the group held their breath and barely spoke as they waited to see whether a carefully crafted yet extremely risky plan would succeed, said White House counterterrorism adviser John Brennan. Obama had been playing golf but returned to the White House for the suspenseful watch Sunday.

Brennan said he would not reveal details “about what types of visuals we had or what type of feeds that were there but it was — it gave us the ability to actually track it on an ongoing basis.” Typically, members of the Navy SEAL team that conducted the operation wear helmet cameras that transmit sound and video to their operation centers and that data can be fed live to the White House and Pentagon.
As the SEALs lowered themselves from helicopters into bin Laden’s compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan, the president and his advisers could only wait.
“It was probably one of the most anxiety-filled periods of time, I think, in the lives of the people who were assembled here yesterday,” Brennan told reporters. “The minutes passed like days, and the president was very concerned about the security of our personnel.”

There hadn‘t been unanimity among members of Obama’s team about going forward with the plan. The president had plenty of evidence to suggest bin Laden would be found in the compound — as indeed he was — but there was no ironclad certainty he was there.
Then there was the danger. Anything could happen. And indeed, something did. One of the helicopters carrying the SEALs stalled upon arrival in the compound and had to be abandoned. It was a heart-stopping moment.
“Seeing that helicopter in a place and in the condition that it wasn’t supposed to be, I think that was one of — at least for me and I know for the other people in the room — was the concern we had that now we’re having to go to the contingency plan,” said Brennan.

The contingency plan of switching to a different chopper worked. In the end, so did the whole operation, and bin Laden was shot dead. But not before the president’s nerves got a serious workout.
“When we finally were informed that those individuals who were able to go in that compound and found an individual that they believed was bin Laden, there was a tremendous sigh of relief,” said Brennan.

The timing and execution of this half a world away was done by those who live with the situation, not those who who don’t have a clue what its all about. However I do feel this was a political stunt, and that we have known where he was for sometime… Bush had his hands tied with the out of control left Democratic Controlled Congress his last four years in office.. and Obama took advantage of having a level headed Republican Controlled Congress and took a chance with full support to boost his ratings.. to defend and protect THE U.S. PRESIDENT….Obama…
instead of the the U.S. Constitution!
That did NOT set well. Gates fought back…and won! …temporarily.
Retired military, including generals, etc. were outraged
at this suggested change of wording
and, free to speak openly, expressed their opposition.
Obama had wanted our troops to renew their oath with his new wording,

on the first July 4th of his Presidency, 2009.

According to reports this was suppose to go down on Sat and was put off due to weather…..would have been nice if obama put off his golf game and was at work in the hours leading up to this…but then again, he is not important. I think Gen. David Petraeus planned all this on Thursday during his meetings at the W.H. the obama had to sign the papers on Friday.

What might the phrase “natural-born citizen” of the United States imply under the U.S. Constitution? The phrase has always been obscure due to the lack of any single authoritative source to confer in order to understand the condition of citizenship the phrase recognizes. Learning what the phrase might have meant following the Declaration of Independence, and the adoption of the Fourteenth Amendment, requires detective work. As with all detective work, eliminating the usual suspects from the beginning goes a long way in quickly solving a case.
What Natural-Born Citizen Could Not Mean
Could a natural-born citizen simply mean citizenship due to place of birth?
Unlikely in the strict sense because we know one can be native born and yet not a native born citizen of this country. There were even disputes whether anyone born within the District of Columbia or in the territories were born citizens of the United States (they were generally referred to as “inhabitants” instead.) National Government could make no “territorial allegiance” demands within the several States because as Madison explained it, the “powers reserved to the several States will extend to all the objects which, in the ordinary course of affairs, concern the lives, liberties, and properties of the people, and the internal order, improvement, and prosperity of the State.”
Jurisdiction over citizenship via birth within the several States was part of the “ordinary course of affairs” of the States that only local laws could affect. Early acts of Naturalization recognized the individual State Legislatures as the only authority who could make anyone a citizen of a State. Framer James Wilson said, “a citizen of the United States is he, who is a citizen of at least some one state in the Union.” These citizens of each State were united together through Article IV, Sec. II of the U.S. Constitution, and thus, no act of Congress was required to make citizens of the individual States citizens of the United States.
Prior to the Revolutionary War place of birth within the dominions of the crown was the principle criterion for establishing perpetual allegiance and citizenship. After independence perpetual allegiance was abandoned for expatriation and, as Madison stated, citizenship was strictly left to the individual States to define.
Could a natural-born citizen perhaps be synonymous with the British term “natural-born subject”?
It is very doubtful the framers adopted the doctrine found under the old English doctrine of “natural-born subject.” The British doctrine allowed for double allegiances, something the founders considered improper and dangerous. The American naturalization process required all males to twice renounce all allegiances with other governments and pledge their allegiance to this one before finally becoming a citizen.

Posted on May 2, 2011 at 7:32pmHouse Report No. 784, dated June 22, 1874, stated, “The United States have not recognized a ‘double allegiance.’ By our law a citizen is bound to be ‘true and faithful’ alone to our government.” It wouldn’t be practical for the United States to claim a child as a citizen when the child’s natural country of origin equally claims him/her because doing so would leave the child with competing legal obligations.
Under the old English common law doctrine of natural-born subject, birth itself was an act of naturalization that required no prior consent or demanded allegiance to the nation in advance. Furthermore, birth was viewed as enjoining a “perpetual allegiance” upon all that could never be severed or altered by any change of time or act of anyone. England’s “perpetual allegiance” due from birth was extremely unpopular in this country; often referred to as absurd barbarism, or simply perpetual nonsense. America went to war with England over the doctrine behind “natural-born subject” in June of 1812.
Because Britain considered all who were born within the dominions of the crown to be its natural-born subjects even after becoming naturalized citizens of the United States, led to British vessels blockading American ports. Under the British blockade, every American ship entering or leaving was boarded by soldiers in search of British born subjects. At least 6,000 American citizens who were found to be British natural-born subjects were pressed into military service on behalf of the British Empire, and thus, the reason we went to war.

Whatever might had been the correct understanding of “natural-born citizen” prior to 1866, the adoption of the Fourteenth Amendment certainly changes the view because for the first time we have a written national rule declaring who are citizens through birth or naturalization. Who may be born citizens is conditional upon being born “subject to the jurisdiction” of the United States – a condition not required under the common law. The legislative definition of “subject to the jurisdiction thereof” was defined as “Not owing allegiance to anybody else,” which is vastly different from local jurisdiction due to physical location alone.
This national rule prevents us from interpreting natural-born citizen under common law rules because it eliminates the possibility of a child being born with more than one claim for allegiance.
The primary author of the citizenship clause, Sen. Jacob M. Howard, said the “word jurisdiction, as here employed, ought to be construed so as to imply a full and complete jurisdiction on the part of the United States, coextensive in all respects with the constitutional power of the United States, whether exercised by Congress, by the executive, or by the judicial department; that is to say, the same jurisdiction in extent and quality as applies to every citizen of the United States now.”

1. Bin Laden’s ‘fortress’ was in an upscale neighborhood, was surrounded by 8-foot walls with barbed wire on top and was three stories high with very few windows.
2. The fortress wasn’t there 5 years ago.
3. Bin Laden had been living there at least 3 years.
4. This supposedly all went down in the quiet of the wee morning hours in a neighborhood filled with Pakistani military personnel, close to Pakistani military areas.
5. Sohaib Athar tweeted hearing a “helicopter hovering above”, which he said “was a rare event”, and heard “a huge window shaking bang”.
6. There was a “gunfight”.
7. Bin Laden’s son and wife were killed, along with Bin Laden.
8. The SEALS blew up the helicopter to keep it from being reverse-engineered by the terrorists.
9. The Navy SEALS Team 6 was there approximately 40 minutes.
10. Bin Laden was cleaned, wrapped and buried at sea within the required 24 hours after death.
Questions:
1. Wouldn’t the Pakistani military be a bit suspicious of a fortress built in their upscale neighborhood?
2. More importantly, why didn’t the Pakistani military investigate the helicopter noise, the “window shaking bang” and the gunfire? They had 40 minutes to catch them!
3. Why didn’t they investigate the fire?
4. Who took the video of the helicopter fire? In it, you can clearly see soldiers walking around with bright flashlights. If it was Pakistani soldiers, who did the SEALS leave behind to take the video?
5. If was our soldiers in the video, why are they walking around seemingly without a care after setting off a “widow shaking” explosion?
6. Why did Glenn Beck’s research come up empty on Navy SEALS Team 6? He said today that Team 6 doesn’t exist.
7. Can terrorists reverse-engineer anything?
8. And what’s in the picture on the table in front of Hillary?
Call me crazy, but how about this scenario:
1. The Pakistanis built the fortress for Bin Laden.
2. We knew where he was all along.
3. The ‘operation’ was staged and the Pakistanis were in on it.
4. Bin Laden, his wife and son were taken to the same island that Gaddafi’s son and three grandchildren were taken to live out their lives in luxury.
5. Obama uses the success of the operation to bolster his plummeting poll numbers.
Crazier things have happened…I’m just sayin.

Maybe this will send a loud mesge to other terrorist that they can run and hide but not forever. The long arm of American justice will seek them out, find them and punish them severely.
