See the Top 6 Newest Guns Israel Will Use if Conflict Breaks Out

Every day the news makes it seem more possible that a conflict will break out in the Middle East that involves our ally Israel. Whether the threat comes from Hezbollah to the north, Hamas to the south, or Iran from the east, there are many scenarios that could lead to an outbreak of hostilities this year.

IDF soldiers

Of course, Israel’s storied military– the Israel Defense Forces (IDF)– comprises the most potent fighting force in the region, which is sure to make most enemies think twice. A large part of that combat prowess is due to world class training and discipline, but the Israelis also have some of the best war fighting gear outside of the U.S.

So we at the Blaze put together a primer on the latest and greatest in Israeli guns.

They are made by Israel Weapons Industries, formerly known as Israel Military Industries, which considers itself one of the world’s leaders in combat-tested small arms. IWI touts its cutting edge family of rifles and pistols, which include, as it states:

”The innovative TAVOR family of Assault Rifles, the ultimate two caliber X95 (Assault Rifle & SMG), the reliable NEGEV Light Machine Gun family, the well-known GALIL Assault Rifle family… the legendary UZI SMG (Mini, Micro and Uzi Pro) and the acclaimed JERICHO family of pistols.”

There are too many to list each individual model here (for those of you who really want a deep dive, the IWI site is an excellent resource) but we have picked out the latest and greatest of the IWI small arms arsenal. Enjoy.

1) The Negev Machine Gun

IWI NG-7 (image courtesy IWI)

The NEGEV is a light and technologically advanced machine gun that is very reliable under adverse and extreme conditions such as mud, dirt and snow. Its current variants are the Negev, Negev SF, and Negev 7 (NG-7).

This family of rifles has seen action all over the world. The Negev takes either 5.56mm or 7.62mm ammunition with an open bolt LMG that can be fed by a belt, drum or magazine. Among its most useful features is the semi-automatic safety which makes the Negev a safer weapon in close quarters battle.

The folks over at the Firearm blog pulled out this video clip  to give you a fuller sense of the brand new Negev 7 (NG-7′s) capabilities in action, courtesy of YouTube:

2) Galil Sniper and Assault Rifles

Want To See the Newest Guns Israel Will Use if Conflict Breaks Out?

The Galil family of rifles consists of multipurpose personal weapons for infantry use. The basic Galil is light weight, air cooled, gas-operated and magazine-fed.

The Galil was first developed over 30 years ago and has been in use ever since. Today the micro Galil has become a popular variant for Israeli police and law enforcement agencies around the globe.

3) Tavor Assault Rifles

TAR variant

There are a whole series of weapons in the Tavor family of bullpup rifles, including the TAR, CTAR, STAR, and GTAR variants.

The Tavor serves as the IDF’s main service weapon, and was developed in close cooperation with the IDF. Among its biggest selling points are high reliability and accuracy under extreme and adverse weather conditions.

The Tavor family are compact rifles with a long barrel and are completely ambidextrous. State-of-the-art sighting systems can be affixed directly to the barrel.

4) The X-95 Family

The X-95 family of  bull pup assault rifles was designed for Israel’s special operation units. Like the Tavor, it also boasts high reliability and accuracy under extreme conditions as well as increased hit probability during exertion.

The X-95 has a 30 round capacity, can be equipped with a silencer, has a detachable barrel, and with the aid of a conversion kit, can be turned into a 9mm caliber submachine gun.

Here is a video that shows the durability of the X-95, courtesy of YouTube:

5) UZI SMG

Want To See the Newest Guns Israel Will Use if Conflict Breaks Out?

IWI UZI

You can’t talk about Israeli weapons without mentioning the world famous Uzi. The first one was created in 1950, and it has since been exported to over 70 countries and has been more widely used than any submachine gun (SMG) in history.

Since those early days, the Uzi family of weapons has expanded dramatically. It has been modified and optimized to meet a variety of personal defense and specialized assault needs, depending on the mission set.

Today,  the Mini and Micro UZI versions are very popular weapons, developed for special military units and police entities such as anti-terror teams.

 6) The Jericho Pistol

Want To See the Newest Guns Israel Will Use if Conflict Breaks Out?

Jericho Pistol6) Jericho Handgu

The Jericho Pistol is the standard pistol of the Israeli Police and has also been adopted by outside police forces and protective security groups around the globe.

It comes in standard, short and compact models, with either steel or polymer frames, including slide or frame mounted safety.

There some pretty extreme variations on the basic handgun frame, including the The MegaGun Jericho.

Using a pistol-rifle converter, it is possible to turn a Jericho pistolinto a short semi-automatic rifle in under a minute by providing a better grip, higher stabibility and a platform for an array of accessories.

The MegaGun converted Jericho is shown below:

This pistol-rifle converter offers a better lethality range; faster entry to shooting position and target acquisition, and enhanced accuracy.

TEXAS CHRIS, Got to agree with you there. Have fired a number of military Uzis at Bragg, in Germany and Belgium of both Israeli and Belgium manufacture and would love to try out the version shown here. Takes some getting used to though. The other weapons are very interesting too, especially that NG7 MG. Back in the ’70s when I first arrived at Bragg I was branded as the new big guy in my squad and got one of the M60s handed to me right away. The M240B replaced the M60 shortly after I retired, but I did get to fire a couple of the Brits’ Gimpies when stationed in Wildflecken.

Yup, bullpups are awesome. Only two drawbacks that I can see:

      1) Harder to rest on an object (think bracing it against the top of a short wall)
      2) Harder to reload from prone

toys for the boys gotta love things that go bang. only commies want to disarm the American people. make sure they get your bullets first. all Americans should own at least one firearm. any one working for our government that wants to take away our guns is a traitor to our nation and is a danger to the American way of life. There is no excuse good enough to justify this act of treason no matter who they are. Hillary Clinton should be arrested and tried as as traitor for her U.N. small arms treaty. The act of talking to a foreign power to deal away our God given rights is an act of treason and they should be hung immediately. this is worse that being a spy for a foreign government and a spy can be shot on site. WE THE PEOPLE need to inform all our elected and appointed government employees that our gun rights are not for them to deal with.

Bull-pups are excessively difficult to reload quickly while keeping your muzzle on target, but this specific model seems to be better than the Steyr-Mannlicher AUG…would love to give it a try, but I’ll take an M4 with a 10-inch barrel and an EO-Tech (and some accessories to beef up the reliability in adverse conditions).

Texas Chris, the posters should understand this verily truth-our guys (and some of our girls) are itching to finish off our surrounding enemies-once and for all. Thus, if they are let off their tethers, by our political appeasers, you will witness the mother of all smack downs.
Suffice it to say, the IDF military doctrine, its ‘morality’ code is killing our soldiers! This is because a leftist prof-what a shock!-Prof Asa Kasher, inserted into the military doctrine the Orwellian concept of ‘havlaga’. This is translated into ‘restraint is strength’. W T F ? You got that? Somehow, in the mindset of our ruling leftist poohbahs, ‘restraint’ against ones lethal foes, is considered strength.
In any case, some of my nearest and dearest are combat soldiers. They want to put an end to the madness-NOW! These ‘new toys’ are going to come in handy, but only if they are let off their leashes!

Well we have the “scary looking weapon” (aka assault rifle) ban here in the US. Rifles banned for purely cosmetic reasons. Apparently the libs don’t realize that my 30-06 hunting rifle will kill them just as fast as an AK47 with pistol grip, bayonette, and flash suppressor. I can buy hunting rifles with an instant background check but not the AK.

DRPHIL – Your 06 would probably do a better job at a distance, the 30-06 in a M1 Garand was one of the best battle rifles ever built. The O6 has a bigger bullet, is more accuate and wi reach out further (with accuracy) than the 7.62×39.
I like the AK and have one in the house with lots of ammo but for anything beyond 75-100 meters give me an 06.

@ BlackCrow: A lot of US Spec Forces refuse to carry the M9, instead they carry the 1911 or the H&K Mark 23/SOCOM.

I said RIFLE! not pistol. I have a bucket full of 1911′s most used in NRA three gun shoots. I also have AR 15/M4′s in several different configurations. But if push came to shove and I had to pick one battle rifle it would be the Galil with a Pardini Gt45 sidearm. The Pardini is the best of Brownings 1911 along with the best of the Sig pistols. Issue for the Italian federal police and match accurate right out of the box. Shoots as well if not better than my Clark Custom long slide and for 2 grand less. The Galil is a Kalashnikov pattern rifle with a milled receiver instead of that stamped steel trash in 7.62X55 NATO. Expensive, but it’s as reliable as an AK with the power of a Dragonov.

Your slam at the AR/ M4/M16 family of arms is laughable considering the Uzi design is about 10 years OLDER.
Don’t be fooled, those aren’t “Your Daddies” AR’s”.
The .223/5.56 is still just a varmint cartridge, but the AR platform is far more reliable than in my day.

So much for the narrative that Israel is some poor defenseless strip of land that would dry up and blow away without the aid of the US taxpayer.
Israel has had its own nuclear weapons program since the late 50′s. They are NOT a member of the NPT nor have they ever been.. They are MASTER offensive and defensive technology (both hardware and software) makers. Many times they improve on the designs we have, if they haven’t STOLEN them first.
They SPY on us more than ANY other quote “ally.” (according to the GAO)
      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JWpWc_suPWo
Their lobbying group AIPAC has totally infiltrated our halls of Govt. and hijacked our sovereignty. And, they have a group of useful idiots that will bend to their will because they think that “God said so.”
I’m not sure which is more dangerous. Them, or the useful idiots.

Let them handle their OWN business. We’ll handle ours. Last I checked, they weren’t annexed as the 51st state, although I’m sure some of the religious nuts will argue that.

Search youtube for “9/11 missing links” and you will see that their fingerprints were ALL over 9/11 to get us involved in taking out their enemies for them. It’s a game called “let’s you and him fight.”
As the Mossad’s motto says: “By way of deception, thou shall do war”
      You’ve been deceived.

JEFFERSON…your myopic take on the IDF betrays a huge lack of understanding Israel’s defense needs. Israel is surrounded by hostile neighbours. Within it’s borders is Hamas. Just outside it’s borders is Hezbollah. Hezbollah is an organized political/military group funded and armed by Iran. Hamas is also funded and armed by Iran. The only logical defense strategy (and a proven one) for Israel to counter the sheer weight of numbers poised against it is to have the best arms and the best trained troops. Is this lost on you?

      @aven

I agree with Jefferson that Israel can handle their own business. The problem I see is that the United States holds Israel down. Since they only believe in the Old Testament they should know,

      Numbers 33:55.

“‘But if you do not drive out the inhabitants of the land, those you allow to remain will become barbs in your eyes and thorns in your sides. They will give you trouble in the land where you will live.”

The Israeli’s as well as many Americans believe God gave them that land. He was very clear in his instructions. For Israel to do what it needs to do, America cannot be involved. We are not the protectors of Israel. God protects Israel. If the Israeli follow Gods word their enemies will be handed to them. If they turn away from God they will live in chaos.

Which do you think they are in now?

I think your point about US holding Israel down is important. Just as welfare keeps the poor dependent of the government so too funding Israel’s defense creates a dependency. Private anonymous donations trump government funding everyday for that very reason.

Hamas is a Creation of Mossad
“Thanks to the Mossad, Israel’s “Institute for Intelligence and Special Tasks”, the Hamas was allowed to reinforce its presence in the occupied territories. Meanwhile, Arafat’s Fatah Movement for National Liberation as well as the Palestinian Left were subjected to the most brutal form of repression and intimidation
Let us not forget that it was Israel, which in fact created Hamas. According to Zeev Sternell, historian at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, “Israel thought that it was a smart ploy to push the Islamists against the Palestinian Liberation Organisation (PLO)”.
      http://www.globalresearch.ca/articles/ZER403A.html

Maybe you’re the one with the myopic view.

Israel is 10 years advanced (militarily) of any other nation in that region. They could wipe anyone in that area “off the map” with what they have already. I don’t have problem with that. I have a problem them going around and causing trouble behind the scenes. There are many historical examples.

They need to stay out of OUR business, and we need to stay out of THEIRS. No foreign aid to ANYONE including Israel, and their neighbors that we give about twice as much to. (which contributes to the problems)
It’s time to put AMERICA FIRST. Is that lost on you?

Looks like you haven’t met an anti-Semitic conspiracy you didn’t love.

Israel‘s neighbors aren’t their only threat. Russia and China are involving themselves in Syria. When Russia, China, Turkey, Syria, Iran, Egypt, Sudan, all combine to gang up on Israel, minus any U.S. help thanks to Anti-Semites like you and your One, The Obama, who then will defend Israel? It won’t be the loving, compassionate U.N. whose only purpose for existence is to condemn Israel and steal U.S. taxpayer dollars in the name of global climate change.
Mock the Christians all you want. When all the things that are foretold do occur you will still mock.
      God will not be mocked.
God will defend Israel, not because Christians want Him to, or because Israel deserves it, even whether or not Israel accepts Christ as her messiah won’t be the cause. God will do it for His name sake. So that blind and hard hearted fools like you Jefferson, will have no excuse. Even still, hatred and unbelief will blind many and they will not believe.
Many Jews will see and will call on the name of the Lord and their Messiah, our Christ, will return from His place and tabernacle amongst them.

Israel’s military could take on the army of any two of its enemies at a time and win. They are that good. But a coaltion of the forces surrounding Israel in a co-ordinated attack would force Israels use of tactical nuclear weapons to defend itself. This of course is a dangerous situation for the world because it would draw in allies of both sides and the conflict that would drive. This is the immoveable object being met by the irresistable force. Heaven help us all.

@ db321 We can say “God bless our troops” all we want in very hollow ways, but the best way we can honor and bless them is by not sending them to wars that do nothing to keep us safe in America. We can stop allowing them to be deployed to conflicts at the direction of the UN. But I’m sure even the slightest change in our current foreign policy is completely “anti-American”, “Anti-Israeli”, and hell I just throw this one in too, it’s “anti-world”.

And I would imagine our military is a little confused right now. They don’t know who they work for anymore, the people of the United States or the UN. Seeing as they’ve been engaged in, or are currently serving in a about a dozen conflicts (that we know of) in the Middle East & North Africa , the majority of which haven’t been declared by a congressional vote, so I’d be a little confused myself if I was in the military. But sure, “God bless our troops”, “oh and hey BTW can you go serve your 8th deployment in Afghanistan protecting poppy fields because we need to bring the war to them so it doesn’t get broughten here to us”
