See the Video of Mitt Romney Getting Glitter-Bombed Twice at a Campaign Stop

Gay rights protesters in Minnesota threw glitter at Romney before he took the stage, making him the latest candidate to be “glittered” by activists opposed to his position on gay rights. Romney, who opposes gay marriage, put a positive spin on the sparkle in his hair.

“This is confetti! We just won Florida,” he said as he took the stage.

From the video:

GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney was glitter bombed not once, but twice at a Minnesota campaign stop by two members of Occupy Minneapolis and the LGBT rights group the Glitterati.

Nick Espinosa and Sam Richards yelled “Feel the rainbow” and “the 1% pays for hate, you’re not welcome in our state!” as they showered Romney in rainbow colored glitter as he walked up to the stage, and again as he shook hands on his way out.

Romney completed the speech with a formidable amount of glitter sparkling in his hair and another Occupy Minneapolis member, Sam Richards added a second salvo of glitter just after Romney concluded his speech.

  There is nothing humorous about getting glittered, actually it appears rather annoying. In case you may not know people go to jail everyday for nonviolent crimes. Those people could be charged with battery or assault depending in which state this crime occurred. Why don’t these turds do it to Obama? See what would happen! Investment groups that buy distressed companies and siphon off cash from the company and pension plan while hiding behind Chapter 11 are not capitalists. Step back a minute and actually think here. People who are entrepreneurs, invest and build businesses are capitalists. They create wealth, they don’t merely transfer it.

  Romney handled this very well. I agree these idiots are commiting an assault on people with these “glitter bombs”, but it would look ridiculous for a politician to have them arrested. Now, what they did to Bachmann’s place of business is another matter. They should have been charged with trespassing, vandalism and whatever else that could have been thrown at them. These “gay activists” do NOT represent the gay community. They are the useful idiots, who happen to be gay, that the BIG left is exploiting for political gain.   to all you idiot defenders of protesters throwing anything and anybody is just wrong. It doesn‘t matter if you’re gay or straight black white etc. what matters is that the victim is subjected to possible physical harm. The victim has no idea what is being thrown at him or her. In this scenario we know the after fact is that it was glitter but what if there was paint chips with lead in it… Or feces or urine or paint.… And I am sure it would create a major stir if the people throwing stuff at politicians were tazered or shot or beaten with a nightstick. Throwing glitter could also be a way of distracting the security guards while someone attempts an assassination. Now that it‘s been done numerous times it’s one of those ways of getting publicity for a cause… Therefore encouraging more copycats to use this. And you know there’s always someone to take it to the nth degree. Example should be made of anybody in the future that does this and given a stiff long and expensive punishment as a discouragement to anybody else who would throw anything at our leaders and/or candidates. This is just another reason why nobody wants to run for office.

  The intent of these people is unknown and the substance that they are throwing on people is not known. Knowing after the fact is to late. Now that he has Secret Service protection, these glitter bombers should expect a very physical confrontation as well as detention and a thorough post action personal history investigation that would make a colonoscopy seem minor. They seem to think that just because it is glitter that it is not as assault but it is. People do not have a right to throw things on you. It’s past time to answer a simple question. Is it a crime to throw something at another person? {Please, no comparisons to a baseball game, a ticker-tape parade, etc. any other justifications}.

As a transplanted Minnesotan, I am very proud that the land of 10,000 lakes has become ground zero of glitter-bombing. And it couldn’t happen to a nicer guy than Willard. Other glitterings of note: during the State Fair in August someone dumped a bucket of glitter from the Sky Chair ride onto those bigots supporting a (state) constitutional amendment to ban same-sex marriage (even though it’s already prohibited by statute); and the Barbarians let the glitter fly inside the Bachmann family’s Pray Away the Gay Christian Counseling Clinic.
