This morning, masses of volunteers assembled at Cowboys Stadium for Glenn Beck’s “Restoring Love Day of Service.” The parking lot served as an inspirational scene, as a plethora of buses packed with volunteers from across America were preparing to head to hundreds of project sites in and around Dallas, Texas. Among the hundreds of locations was Operation Blessing, a faith-based, non-profit disaster relief organization.
Approximately 130 volunteers (a second group is slated to arrive later in the day) headed to the organization’s Prairie, Texas, headquarters, where they would engage in two essential service capacities — preparing and organizing food for Operation Blessing‘s warehouse and helping with the building’s renovations and painting needs. From adults to children, the participants were eager to serve from the start.

At a roll call before the project began, it was discovered that the group of volunteers represented 28 states in total. California, Ohio, Michigan, New Mexico, Georgia, Kansas, Colorado and Alaska were only of the few of the localities they came from.
Once inside and registered, the volunteers quickly went to work. While some painted walls, others separated beans into individual bags that the organization plans to give to families in need. The sights were fascinating, as those participating worked quickly and diligently to accomplish the tasks at hand.

Danelle Vanholstyn, a volunteer who came to "Restoring Love" all the way from Alaska
In addition to the packing and painting, here’s a brief synopsis of the work that the organization will be doing with Beck’s Mercury One:
As part of Mercury One’s “Restoring Love Through Service” food drive, OBI will be loading food supplies into 11 Hunger Strike Force tractor trailers in Dallas, Texas, then delivering the items to 11 cities across the nation—helping feed hungry families.
The 11 cities include Detroit, Mich.; Navajo Reservation, N.M.; New Orleans, La.; Las Vegas, Nev.; San Joaquin Valley County, Calif.; New York, N.Y.; Orlando, Fla.; Philadelphia, Pa.; Dallas, Texas; Houston, Texas; and Wilmington, Ohio.

Jody Gettys, director of U.S. Disaster Relief and Programs for Operation Blessing, told TheBlaze that her organization was inspired to partner with Beck’s Mercury One when staffers learned about the Day of Service.
“We‘re so excited to champion the cause of loving one’s neighbors,” she explained, going on to share her hopes for the emotions that the experience would bring to participating volunteers. “I hope it’s a new awareness that not only the chronic poor and homeless face poverty.”
Dan Moore, Deputy Director of U.S. Disaster Relief, too, said that the experience will show volunteers that anyone, considering the down economy, can find him or herself in great need.
“I’ve seen people in suits and ties, even after [Hurricane] Katrina, in [food] lines,” he said, going on to encourage people to realize that “anything could happen.” This volunteer opportunity, he believes, may awaken understanding.

Gettys went on to say that she’s excited to see that the volunteers have an opportunity to help the families that Operation Blessing serves.
Consider Blaine and Amy Olson, a husband and wife from Louisiana, who drove nine hours to be a part of “Restoring Love.” They told TheBlaze about their motivation to serve the poor and those in need.
“We come out here, because we believe that we should be serving others,” Amy explained. “We believe that this is just such a blessing to help others and to share love — and that‘s what ’Restoring Love’ is all about.”
Gettys echoed this sentiment as well, saying that she’s hoping the opportunity would allow individuals and families to help build “a better America through service and love.”

When an uncomfortable, EMBARRASSING truth is revealed… panicky deceivers will IMMEDIATELY try to DERAIL and REDIRECT away from that truth, with completely unrelated garbage. This can be very effective… IF… the target takes the bait. Fortunately, I am an animal not easily lured. Here’s how the trap plays out…
1. The conversation is REDIRECTED AWAY from the unrefutable truth, with unrelated smearing.
2. The target (it’s human nature) will knee-jerk DEFEND against the smear, NO REALIZING he is being manipulated to do so.
3. After a slew of moronic accusation / defense / accusation / defense replies… the ORIGINAL COMMENT has been long forgotten.
4. OTHER readers begin to get irritated with the boring conversation and begin to BLAME THE TARGET with comments like “why do you always talk about Ron Paul? That’s not the issue!”
5. The Alinskyite WILL THEN TURN, JOIN THE CRITICISM of the target NOT staying on topic… WHEN IT WAS THE ALINSKYITE WHO DERAILED THE THREAD IN THE FIRST PLACE!
The good news for me? Ron Paul and his platform/politics are so well known, ridiculous accusations discredit the accuser… without me having to say a word.

Posted on July 27, 2012 at 4:28pmFor those of you who would like to volunteer in your own community, I suggest joining a program that either reads to or tutors young children. It only takes one training session and spending an hour a week with a child who often comes from a home of semi-literate parents.
My late husband and I tutored children in the second grade who could still not read. In a matter of weeks, some of them were not only reading but also choosing books at the school library that were above their grade level.
I applaud everyone who is participating in Honoring Love and would like too hear from those of you who provide volunteer services in your own town. Maybe by seeing what you do individually, some who think government is the answer may become enlightened.

Posted on July 27, 2012 at 5:03pmThe constitution and laws are useless in the hands of an immoral people. Glenn is helping people to find god and love for their fellow man. Electing one man no matter how moral and good he is will not allow us to restore the constitution and the country. We must elect as many good men as we can to force our leaders to do the right thing. People can‘t elect the right people if they can’t tell right from wrong. The government is not where the answer lies. It lies with a moral people.

Our Founding Fathers LOVED this country because of what they saw in it. They gave to us Freedom, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. They gave us the Declaration of Independence, Bill of Rights and the Constitution. Why is it when a person suggests one thing, it somehow automatically excludes everything else? Besides, I’ve volunteered at church, and we often help atheists and Jews… and whites, blacks, asian, hispanics, tall, short, men, women, young, old, etc. The point is, helping others fosters gratitude in the ones being helped, and a sense of worth and accomplishment in the ones doing the helping. Posted on July 27, 2012 at 2:26pmI’m curious why you would describe this as a sideshow…usually that term would refer to a circus event. Here is a mass of people sacrificing their own vacation time, their own money, to work together with strangers to help more strangers in need. All GB did was pick a day and organize an activity. Yes, people do service on their own, as do churches and other non-profit groups. But here is an opportunity for a lot of service to be done on a large scale. Why are you bent out of shape about it?

Report Post »MrSunshine
Posted on July 27, 2012 at 3:07pmBWS, individuals giving of themselves to look out for each other is NOT socialism. Socialism is when the government removes individuals from the equation and confiscates private property or “redistributes” property without an individulas consent. The “charity” I speak of is voluntary and comes from one’s inherent desire to help. It isn’t forced, coerced or otherwise demanded. There are actually people in the world who want to give of themselves BWS.
Your logic would mean that every philanthropic organization (Rotary, Lions, Jaycees, Salvation Army etc.) is socialistic in nature. They are not! They would not exist if we were a socialist nation. Socialism does not allow for those who excel to give of their own volition. It marginalizes everyone and instead of giving opportunity for those who have earned wealth to “help” those in need, it makes everyone poor….except those in power. I’ve been a Rotarian, a volunteer firefighter/EMT, a donor to the MDA, the Ameican cancer Society, the Mother‘s March of Dimes and others but I’ll never be a socialist!
I’m on the side of God not government!

ALINSKYITE SMEARING:
“You’re hateful obsession”
ALINSKYITE SMEARING OBJECTIVE:
When folks CANNOT EXPLAIN AWAY awkward contradictions, they attack the SOURCE of the uncomfortable truth. The language “hate” is a particular favorite of democrat Alinskyites. They strategically use the word “hate” to dull opposition to things like illegal immigration, homosexuality, etc, etc.
ALINSKYITE SMEARING:
“frightening… suddenly snapping… insane rampage.”
ALINSKYITE SMEARING OBJECTIVE:
This particular phrasing is becoming increasingly frequent and aimed SPECIFICALLY at Ron Paul supporters. Almost as if to “lay the groundwork” for Tampa. This smear is designed to chill the truth by making the target appear to be a “threat” – something that should be “dealt with.”
ALINSKYITE SMEARING:
If you hate people who seek goodness, truth, respect, and honor so much, go spend your time on a Liberal website, not with us. You are our opposite.
ALINSKYITE SMEARING OBJECTIVE:
This one’s an EXACT EXAMPLE of Alinskyite Rules For Radicals #12 (Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it. Cut off the support network and isolate the target from sympathy). Notice how the Alinskyite uses “us” and “our” to SEPARATE the target? And again the word “hate.”
CONCLUSION:

Posted on July 27, 2012 at 1:11pmBrother Winston, you are one cynical loser. The event is to encourage individuals to act. It is to show that individuals are responsible for their “brothers” and not the government. It is a demonstration that we as humans can do things for others without being coerced or without an expectation of something in return. “charity” is an idea that comes from within each individual. If we exercise and demonstrate that sense of caring for others then perhaps we can convince others to think similarly and get the government out of it all together.
