See These Nanotubes and Nanorockets Create an ‘Invisibility Cloak’

What do you get when you take super-heated carbon nanontubes? A mirage that can act as an invisibility cloak.

Watch the technology created by researchers at the University of Dallas:

According to Wired (via Business Insider) the nanotubes are one molecule thick with the density of air but the strength of steel. For more on cloaking technology, check out this armored vehicle that researchers made “disappear.”

Research is also being conducted to someday use nanotechnology as a vessel to whizz medication quickly through the body. New Scientist reports scientists at the Leibniz Institute for Solid State and Materials Research in Dresden, Germany, have developed nanorocket with less toxic fuel, compared to hydrazine, that could someday be used in medical settings.

Watch the rockets “fly”:

The scientists created this less toxic fuel through a reaction with platinum and a weak solution of hydrogen peroxide. The nanorocket traveled 200 times its own length per second, but because even small amounts of peroxide aren’t entirely safe for the body, scientists are still working on a better fuel. Scientists are able to control direction of the rocket using a magnetic field.

If its coming out in public, chances are we already have it, and have had it 5 to 10 years. Things beyond that are not made public.

about this time last year i was driving down a street not too far from my house and i notice a strange looking white plane with no windows. it was descending lower and lower until it was just a bit above the trees. i thought i was about to witness a plane crash, then all of a sudden it just disappeared. when i got home i began googleing to see if i could find anything out about this plane. all i was able to find was a pic. the pic was labled military camoflouge plane. i was just wondering if anyone else has seen this.

there is a complexity to God’s creation that we are only now just beginning to understand. it reminds me of a passage in the bible referring to a rapid increase in technology before Jesus’ returns.

Eventually we’ll reach the same conclusion as every other advanced civilization in the universe, that it’s just too difficult to make things invisible. Much simpler to generate an SEP field (Somebody Else’s Problem field). Everyone will see the tank driving down Elm Street, but it won’t register in the conscience, because it‘s somebody else’s problem. Concept from Douglas Adams.

No other civilization could see individual atoms and understand their effects and interactions like we do. Until this century there wasn’t even agreement about whether atoms existed. Invisibility has already been achieved 2 or 3 different ways, it’s just a matter of scaling it up.

I am constantly amazed by the technology we produce. No doubt we are the worlds leader in new and innovative technologies. But, why do we need to show everything? Or do we? You know China, Russia and the rest of the bunch that wants to take us down are trying to duplicate these things, and probably are. Look at China’s new stealth fighter for example,, their space program,, etc.. it all came from stolen technology,,, from us! I don’t know, but it seems our military and government is smoking something.. I just don’t get it!

Actually, by definition this is a cloaking device, just not in the way most of us perceive the concept of “invisibility” (As some sort of state of permanence). The trouble is finding ways to stabilize and control the illusion, which is all that invisibility (or “mirages” as you say) is. There are already technologies out there being pursued by the military to create “stealth suits” using paralleling, but not entirely similar ideas.

Using light-absorption and refraction techniques the military is making huge strides towards creating the ultimate concealment for soldiers and vehicles alike.

No matter your definitions, though, this is awesome :)

It’s not as if they invented the idea, because there is mirages in nature. Even heat-waves create mirages by showing something not there and hiding things which are there.
