See This Awesome Father-Son Duo Catch a Foul Ball at Yankee Stadium

The Blaze recently published a sports piece that included a collection of some of the best foul ball catches we’ve ever seen.

We’re going to have to add the following video to that collection.

Last Friday during a game between the Cincinnati Reds and the New York Yankees, Reds player Joey Votto hit a foul into the bleachers at Yankee Stadium. What happens next is some seriously cool father/son teamwork:

“Father’s holding the son, lifts him up and the kid makes the play!” Yankee’s announcer Michael Kay said.

“Holy cow, a lefty too, with a Reds shirt on!” the second announcer, John Flaherty, said. “That’s the play of the day right there!”

Although the Reds lost 0-4, we’re guessing that kid still went home pretty happy. After all, it’s an impressive catch. Heck, even the rest of Yankee Stadium (not traditionally friendly territory) is happy for him.

I think the number of fans who have actually caught a foul ball is about 1%, so they should give up 95% of their balls to the rest of the fans who didn’t catch one. Oh, I guess that won’t really solve anything, will it?

TBB, COMA you are both immature idiots. It saddens me that people can’t even be happy for someone else. Do you know that kid and his dad will remember that moment for the rest of their lives! They’ll be talking about that for years and years.

I do not worship sports….. I don’y even know who is in the superbowl until the day they play….. BUT going to a game and enjoying the atmosphere, meeting friends and people you have not seen in years, AND spending time with your son or other loved ones is a wonderful thing….. You sound like you need a hug….. HEY go to france and find that reporter, i’m sure he will give you a hug!

Additionally, those who caught an authentic foul ball will be taxed at a rate of 50%; meaning, in order to be fair, you must allow children who where not born with the opportunities you had the right to keep your ball 6 months a year…

Great sense of humor! I wish the “executive order” bs were more funny than real.

Hey! Now there’s an idea: bsho! Except what comes out of his mouth is not bs but damaging, crippling, hate-filled LIES.

You forgot to add that everyone on main street West Burlap, Kansas will be required to pay for the balls and to insure that there is no cheating a regulator. called the Ball Czar will be appointed…no worries though the Ball Czar will be paid an unknown amount out of an unknown account.

The Dad will be charged with endangering the son by holding him above shoulder height, and then the Dad will be sued by the people behind him who did not have a legitimate opportunity to catch the ball. Obama will have a beer summit, get the teams over for a photo op and everyone in that section will get an official MLB ball signed by Obama.

If you play it in slow motion, it looks like the woman with the red hat catches it and then hands it off the the little guy. If you stop/play the video, you can see the ball in her red hat. At least it looks like it to me. No matter, he is happy.

The guy who threw his son in the air is Ryan Hanigan’s brother-in-law. Ironically, Hanigan is a catcher for the Cincinnati Reds. By the way, The Blaze is about 4 days late on this story.
