See Where TheBlaze Fits in on This Interactive ‘The Internet Map’

The Internet Map By Ruslan Enikeev Shows Scale of the Internet and Relationship Between Websites

(Image: The Internet Map)

What do you get when you put 350,00 websites and 2 million links from 196 countries and on a map making their size relative to traffic? A map of the Internet that looks like a constellation of colored dots resembling stars in space.

This is exactly what Ruslan Enikeev did, but that’s not all. The grouping of constellations on the map is significant as well. Gizmodo explains that the space between each dot is “determined by the frequency with which users jump from one to another.” In short, this provides perspective on users preferences based on the neighbors within the groupings.

“Users’ switching between websites forms links, and the stronger the link, the closer the websites tend to arrange themselves to each other,” Enikeev writes on his site.

Here are more details on The Internet Map from Enikeev:

As one might have expected, the largest clusters are formed by national websites, i.e. sites belonging to one country. For the sake of convenience, all websites relative to a certain country carry the same color. For instance, the red zone at the top corresponds to Russian segment of the net, the yellow one on the left stands for the Chinese segment, the purple one on the right is Japanese, the large light-blue central one is the American segment, etc.

Importantly, clusters on the map are semantically charged, i.e. they join websites together according to their content. For example, a vast porno cluster can be seen between Brazil and Japan as well as a host of minor clusters uniting websites of the same field or similar purposes.

Here’s a progression of TheBlaze zooming inward:

What was Enikeev’s point in making this map — aside from the fact that it is fun to find your favorite websites and see where they reside in Internet space? He writes it is an “attempt to look into the hidden structure of the network, fathom its colossal scale, and examine that which is impossible to understand from the bare figures of statistics.”

Let’s check the relevant size in a year. My money is on it being increased 50% or more. Eventually everybody gravitates to the truth though they do tend to resist at first.

Hey TheBlaze: This means you need to get a hold of a internet publicist to start driving up traffic/sales. I can tell you one thing that will drive it up is to partner up with Disqus instead of, uh, yea, whatever it is you are using for commenting section. Also, adding more features such as a live chat or something to involve more people would be nice. Your guy’s website is blah, spice it up a little, and don’t be a offshoot of GBTV! =D

Anyone notice the websites that are in relative proximity to whitehouse.gov?
mormon.org – Not far to the bottom left. Maybe this means there is a Mormon close to being in the White House?
pampers.com – Even closer, to the bottom of it. Maybe this has something to do with Obama’s reaction to the first.

It is a great visual….but i am not curious enough to go any futher with it at this point. Too many important things to take care of for now….i think it is a great marketing tool to use in the future….once we can blow by obama in ‘012 election…the future will brighten this up immensely!!! Like a 4th of July celebration!! Right now it is rather like watching the monitors hooked up on a dying patient….it distracts you from the important thing at hand, being in the moment with the patient….Take back the country! Once acomplished it is on with getting everything up and running…Talk about lighting up a constellation!!! The awesome thing will be the before and after shots of this new visual tool! I am not pessimistic as much as i am proactive to see our country back on the course for freedom to reign once again for America….I still hear that bell ringing!!! Freedoms call is the most important focus and that will drive my attention every waking moment!

Mr. Beck was claiming on his radio show yesterday that his internet webstream was larger than CNN.
Here’s proof that GBTV is only a small fraction of CNN web presence, let alone its television presence.
Mr. Beck had to know he was lying when he said it. Even the worst schizophrenics are not that detached from reality.

Are you kidding me? He was referring to the CNN TV audience, which is smaller than GBTV subscriber numbers. How does this graphic of internet traffic refute that?

I believe the word you are looking for is delusional, not schizophrenic. On behalf of my girlfriend, who _is_ schizophrenic but not delusional, I would really appreciate it if you would use more than one brain cell at a time in your future posts, jackov.

I invite everyone to go into your email contacts and sign-up all friends and family for The Blaze and/or Glenn Beck newsletter. I did this several months ago after realizing so many people have no idea what’s actually happening in the world. These are too urgent of times to allow to fall into the hands of chance (people “stumbling” on the truth). Just enter their emails at the links below, one by one, and watch what happens. My cousin is in grad school and when she started watching, because I signed her up originally to the Blaze, I saw firsthand how she started posting links and then watched it spread like wildfire. Remember, one person can make a difference. Lets unlarge the Blaze’s circle of influence. If they want to cancel later they can. See links below:
