As His creation God loves both Houston and Brown. It is their personal decisions, as it is yours, as to what to do with that knowledge.

God did not “call her home”.

I hate it when the theologicall illiterate try to explain away the consequences of people’s bad decisions with crap like that. It was not God’s will that she died at 48 years old. It was her own will. She chose death.

So, what, calling someone a Pharisee and expounding upon her personal decisions makes you an expert on what happened here, huh?

You don’t know that this isn;t a Heath Ledger-type indicent where it was entirely innocent, just a bad legal drug interaction.

I’ve been ignoring my own natural inclination to jump straight to “she overdosed” because Whitney had seemed to partially pull it together recently (entirely unlike Amy Winehouse or Michael Jackson, who both just got further and further out of control).

Why not stop playing the Sadducee calling the Pharisee bad and wait to find out what happened, hmm?

Unless you have personally suffered the betrayal of someone you love turning on you…beating you… you have absolutely NO idea the complete devastation it causes. Whiney’s singing of the National Anthem (above) made me sob…I believe that she is the last American artists who has given it the respect, honor, and passion it deserves.

Nobody made her take the drugs. It is a personal choice to or not. Many of my high school friends did and I went the other way. I didn’t want to be a part of that crowd. What happened to them? They became Heroin addicts and were in serious trouble. Glad I didn’t follow them.

Bobby Brown was the beginning of Whitney’s bad choices.

The whole world was yelling for Whitney to “STOP!” But, she wouldn’t hear and continued down that road.

Hey folks, no one can “turn you” into a heroin addict. People have choices. You can either try drugs, or you can say “no thanks” and walk away – and you can eliminate such people from your life. No one is responsible for Whitney’s bad choices but Whitney. Once she became an addict, she surrendered her ability to choose to the drugs. But the initial bad choices were hers.

Sad as it is to see this end, she put the wheels in motion when she first picked up. Addicts end up in one (sometimes more) of three places – jail, institutions, and morgues.

Blaming others for your addiction just ensures you’ll never get sober.

Agree! I dated a fellow in the 60′s and did not know he was doing drugs and when he asked me to join him to do some drugs, I said hell no and dropped him fast. Before this incident, I had heard on the radio about a young mother that was high on LSD and took a broken-pop-bottle and cut her baby’s heart out. Alcohol didn’t interest me because as a kid, before having a residential paper-route, (I lived in a small community), I would peddle my newspapers in the bars. The adults I knew in the community that I thought were “nice” people, would smell of alcohol and seem scary to me so didn’t want to become a drunk. It just dawned on me, times have sure changed..nowadays a 12yr old girl would not be allowed to be in bars selling newspapers to drunks! I never felt the adults would do something to me…yikes! The Good Lord was always watching over me because he had his plans for my life…Glorify Him in my later years! I did smoke cigarettes off & on and stopped “cold turkey”, Dec.31,1985. Ricky Nelson died that day in a plane crash and rumor had it there were drugs being used. “The Beat Goes On”.

An early sign of Whitney’s coming fall from hubris was her public remark that she had become greater than The Beatles. Lifestyle and drugs led her over the edge soon after. She murdered Dolly Parton’s classic song, “I Will Always Love You,” by essentially screaming the verses out of key. She’s hugely overrated as a talent and her premature passing is no surprise. Just my humble opinion.

That‘s funny because I read just yesterday that Dolly Parton praised Whitney’s version. In fact, I preferred Whitney‘s version than Dolly’s. Maybe before you say something that can be disproved, you might want to do some research first.

By 1995 she had crossed the line into darkness. Word to the wise: The moment you think you can change a devil into an angel, checkmate ..you lose. If you live with a crack addict, you’ll become one. Sorry Angelauthor, the theif was going to Paradise, not heaven. Paradise is liked into Abraham’s bossom, a place of sleep. Look it up, study it. Paul had a vision, he was caught up. The bible speaks of 7 heavens, Paul may have seen it, but his soul is not there in it. You believe in fables, I believe in what the Word says and I look at the content of the transcribed language that is mistranscribed in the Greek. Find your yourself a Hebrew rendering of the language. Especially where the words Hades, Sheole, and Hell are used.
What is under the altar are not people, but their blood, like Abels blood, it cries out. The generations that were not born cry out for redemption, just as those who were beheaded do.
You would really do yourself a favor by looking at the bible through the Hebrew language and the Jewish tradition that fills it pages. After all it is a Jewish book and sin that has not been confessed or done away with does not enter in. Elementary stuff.
Ever read where those entering the temple were required to take mikvahs to cleanse themselves? That was the temple on earth, yet you think drug addicts and those who are drunken can walk right on into the heavenly temple because they could sing. Recall that Lucifer was the minister of music? God gives out the talent, but wants it used for his glory, Satan comes to steal, kill and destroy and he would love for you to believe the ungodly can prance on in. Few days before liquor and smoke was on her breath.

Meh, an old fellow by the name of Clarence Larkin did a pretty good visual rendition of what is taught in the AV1611. The man was brilliant and had a talent of laying things out so folks could understand them. The chart I would like to draw your attention to is at this link http://www.ebccnet.com/lcharts/Clarence-Larkin-Album-Color/SPIRIT_WORLD.

Not going to try to force your head in a jar on the topic or anything, just if you want what a harmony of the scriptures both old and new testament say on the topic. If you want to throw the Hebrew, Greek, Aramaic, Coptic, and Syriac texts into the mix you can. But IMO the best rendition in English is still just over 400 years old. Please note I did not include Latin in the mix, those MSS are hopelessy foul, missing as much as half a chapter in places.

As an atheist, all I can say is that I hope that there is a heavan and she is in it.

While we ALL have our failings and shameful moments, Whitney brought joy and pleasure into the lives of millions. The world is a little less now that she is not in it.

And for those Christians with the harsh comments; perhaps if you read your bible a little more closely you will note the importance placed on forgiveness.

I hate to see anyone with an addiction like this. It is very sad that at 48yrs old she has died. It looks like fame and fortune for some are not enough to gurantee happiness. I hope that she did make peace with God before she died. I don’t understand why anybody would boo her regardless of how poor her preformance was. It was public knowledge that she had serious drug problems and suffered with depression so why would anyone want to cause her more pain or push her over the edge? People can be so cruel and take pleasure in taunting someone who is less than perfect. She was obviously very frail .She desperately needed help. As far as her choice of song, maybe in the back of her mind she somehow knew that she needed to reach out. It is just very sad. My prayers go out to her family for their loss. Rest in Peace Whitney.

We don’t know what she died of, but years of drug abuse could have weakened her heart, damaged her brain, or compromised some of her other organs, even if she was clean today.

She was discovered while singing in church. I do hope that as a young child, she turned to the Lord, even if she fell away during her adult life. Either that, or towards the end, she turned back to the Lord.

The Lord blessed her with a wonderful voice. It is sad that it was silenced so quickly.

I read a NY Times article where they stated a few days ago during practice you could smell liquor and cigarettes on her breathe. I’m sorry but Whitney is not in heaven (none have gone there) there is no news of her restoring herself back to God. Many of you believe in fairy tales about the after life. When you die you are asleep until judgement. If you didn’t live in a manner that was pleasing to God, if your life was led by the virtue of sin, then you either are destroyed by the final death of your soul (God can destroy the soul) or you are thrown into the lake of fire where you are burned to ashes.
It’s sad that God gave her such great talent and she sang for him in church, but fame and fortune snatched it away and the voice turned into a rasp. Those that once cheered for her began to boo her and walk out on her. That’s what turning your back on God can do. Her voice is gone, it meant very little to her in the end. People stop believing the once saved always saved lies and all go to heaven regardless of the sin, addictions of the flesh. On earth as it is in heaven is how we have to think. No sin is allowed in heaven, our chance for redemption lies only here, not at the judgement seat.

      @ Juniemoon

How can you presume to judge the heart and faith of another person?

Rom 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.

Abraham sinned. David had a man killed because he wanted to marry his wife. That sure beats out liquor and cigarettes on one’s breath. Do you think King David won’t be in Heaven? No human being has led a sinless life except Jesus Christ. That’s why He came–one perfect man without sin–to die in our place–as a redemption for those who have faith in Him. Yes our bodies lie in graves when we die, but our spirit goes to be with the Lord, awaiting resurrection day.

Please don’t judge others so harshly, especially those you don’t even know. Seldom are people’s prayers or repentance to God found in newspapers. We are to take the log out of our own eye before judging the same in others. Matt 7:4-5, Luke 6:42. No one knows another person’s heart and faith unless they know them intimately. We are to love others as Jesus loves us, and to pray for even our enemies.

I don’t know what faith you are, but you’re wrong to suggest none are in Heaven and that Whitney cannot be there now. Paul states clearly that to be absent in body is to be present with the Lord – that doesn’t leave any room for a sleeping period as you suggest. Jesus Himself also said to the thief on the cross “TODAY you shall be with me in paradise.” John, in the book of Revelation wrote about the end of the world leading up to judgment…and there in Heaven, under God’s throne, at a point before the end of time and judgment came, were the martyrs of those beheaded for Christ pleading for justice.

Heaven is very real, and it is very TODAY, since the death and resurrection of Christ, when He went and preached to the captives and set them free. The only spiritual place mentioned in the Bible that remains empty at this point is the Lake of Fire, created for Satan and his angels (and all those who follow him).

Eternal decisions need to be made this side of Eternity. THEREFORE, it would be very smart of you to make sure that you’ve got your facts straight before you get beyond the point of no return = no do-overs.

AS IT IS and if you don’t change your mind = you get to stand before Jesus and explain to Him about how you’ve decided to put yourself in the place of God and how you get to delegate who gets to go to heaven or hell.

You’ve got yourself on a slippery slope there, Junie, and you are spewing a whole lot of lies. I wouldn’t want to be standing before Jesus in your shoes.

While it’s still this side of eternity for you, Junie, you might want to do some research and some re-thinking. You might want to read the Bible For YourSelf instead of listening to those who are Twisting The Living Word of God.

Are you a JW? If so = you are in a cult and you need to get out of there pronto! If not a JW = whoever you are listening to, you are being deceived and you need to get out of there pronto!

On a side note, if having liquor on her breath 2 days prior to death consigns her to hell (Luke 16 comes to mind) and after that the Great White Throne judgement and to be cast into the lake of fire ( Rev 20 ), where does your escatology place Lot, of who the last recorded deed in this life was to get drunk and make babies with his two daughters? If you said Hell, you would be wrong. Two different New Testament writers writing under the influence of the Holy Spirit, called him “just” and “righteous”. It’s not what we do, it’s in whom we trust. He is always faithful, whereas we are light wandering sheep gone astray to use one passage on the topic. “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” I John 1:9.

      you said…
(God can destroy the soul) or you are thrown into the lake of fire
where you are burned to ashes

      thegrassroots,

I do not know what faith Juniemoon follows but it is not Jehovah’s Witnesses. This is evident by her own words. For instance, she said; “I’m sorry but Whitney is not in heaven (none have gone there)”

That is not an accurate statement and a student of the Bible would not say that.

I don‘t know where Junie’s getting her false ideas about the Bible. She said something about “sleep,“ which caused me to think she was refering to the JWs and ”soul sleep.”

      Junie’s not a Bible student! She’s being manipulated by someone[s] who is distorting the Bible = a cult = a false teacher[s] = a wolf[s] in sheep’s clothing = someone[s] Junie needs to remove herself from.

      thegrassroots,
      Thank you for your comments.
It is the course of wisdom to be careful who we label as a cult. Most religions fall victim to false teachings and their members buy into those teachings blindly. Without a thorough study of God’s Word, individuals can become prejudice against a group without cause, even labeling them a cult when in actuality they may have the truth. For instance, does the Bible, anywhere, teach that everyone will go to heaven? Did King David go to heaven? Be careful in your answer!

This question is not inconsequential as its answer affects our understanding of what heaven is all about and why many do not go to heaven. This does not mean they are bad people, it just means that many will, after they are resurrected, enjoy life on earth, a paradise earth, with Jesus as ruler and king.

      @whitefang

You’ve answered my question! Thank You! = You Have No Understanding Whatsoever Of Who Jesus Is or What Jesus Is About.

It appears that you and Juniemoon are both believing that you have the right to put yourselves in the place of God and decide who may or may not enter heaven. Not Your Job!

As for David! There’s a Really Good Clue in Revelation revealing where David is, In Jesus’ Own Words:

“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last. … I am the Root and the Offspring of David, the Bright and Morning Star.” ~ Jesus Speaking ~~ Revelation 22:13,16

You suggested, white fang, that I should “be careful!“ You are who needs to ”be careful!” Someone who has the arrogance to presume to put themself in the place of God and speak for God is in a very dangerous place.

May I suggest that you and Junie get yourselves Into A Bible Believing Church That Teaches Sola Scriptura, Chapter and Verse.

As it is, you are both exuding false teaching.

May I also suggest that you take a look at what Scripture says about false prophets and false teachers and wolves in sheeps’ clothing = Not Good!

Well, I now understand what your attitude is.
I will not offend your religious views and sensibilities any longer.

Uh yeah! Jesus Ascended Into Heaven, David Didn’t! Acts 1:2,9-11; Luke 24:51;Mark 16:19

None of us “ascend” into heaven. Only Jesus! Our bodies all get graves. Or, some, who are cremated, get their ashes scattered.

What do you think of John’s words = John 20:30,31?

What about John 1:1-5? Keep in mind, while reading, that “the Word” is Jesus! Also, if you are a JW, JWs re-wrote their bible to say: the word was “a” god.= JWs deny the Trinity!

Neither I nor my sensibilities are offended. Just remove yourself from whoever you are listening to, whitefang. Get yourself and Junie into a Bible believing and teaching church.

You, Like We All Do, Need Jesus! Jesus Loves You!

SUCH a tragic life! So sad.

Yet not a single one of her Hollywood pals ever once called out Bobby Brown. How long was it after she started seeing that POS before she was kitting up with smack? And no one in a position to help said anything. That is just evil.

    Same with Sheen.

    Same with Lindsay Lohen.

As for Whitney being now with the Lord – I sure hope so, but not a one of us knows if she was saved. Let’s just pray she was despite all of what happened in her life. Hope so ……..

Oh for crying out loud, stop it already with your Baal concept of the Bible. Look around you, the earth is chalk full of people. Whitney’s soul is right back here on earth in the womb as a baby again. And you don’t even know what it means to be sealed. As it says in the Gospels: if you are in the field, don’t go back to the house, and if on the roof of your house don’t go back in for anything. That means don’t return to any of your gluttonous ways and thus you will make yourself sealed. When you are like a stone in the end, stay a stone.

CYMRY: Pay no attention to the ‘reincarnated’ rock behind the curtain (ItsJustTim). Lacking completely any evidence to support his theory, he will always maintain his death grip on it because – well, because, to admit there is a God, and to admit that God is omnipotent, and admit little Timmy is no more than a wisp of smoke is far, far too frightening for him.

And so, he will cling to his baseless – but non-threatening – theory until death does him take, and shortly thereafter will find out just how sound his little theory is.

Oh well. One not saved. But, as he said, the world is replete with people, many of which have a chance of not suffering the Little Tim forever. Let’s concentrate on those.

      Cheers, Timmie.

      CYMRY,

Where in the Bible does it support “God calls people home?” One, sine when was heaven ever mankind’s home?? Next, let’s take a look at Hebrews 2:14 -Therefore, since the “young children” are sharers of blood and flesh, he also similarly partook of the same things, that through his death he might bring to nothing the one having the means to cause death, that is, the Devil.

God does not take lives. He is not responsible for death. Satan the Devil is.

Sad how all of our stars seem to all be falling ungracefully from the skies. It’s been like this for along time, from Picaso and Poe, to Presley and Paterno, we’ve seen this for centuries. It just seems like it’s happening more now, but I think it’s only because right now we have more false idols.
