SEIU California to Launch…a Republican PAC?

SEIU California to Launch...a Republican PAC?The Service Employees International Union (SEIU) has a reputation for supporting Democratic candidates. But, the controversial labor union is gearing up for an effort that will explicitly support Republican contenders.

The California branch of SEIU is planning to launch a political action committee with the sole purpose of getting moderate GOP candidates elected to California state office. The Capitol Alert has more:

The union says 87,000 of its 700,000 members are registered Republicans. With redrawn legislative boundaries looming and the creation of the top-two primary system, SEIU’s new leader Dave Kieffer has said this is the perfect time to start helping candidates to extricate themselves from the grip of party extremists. SEIU is expected to launch its second ad campaign this weekend in the districts of current GOP legislators its officials believe could support Brown’s tax package.

“I feel the far right, the tea party, is hijacking my party, and it’s saddening,” said John Orr, a parking officer at California State University, Fullerton. “I hope through this PAC, this effort and the open primary that moderates can regain their voice.”

Kevin Spillane, a GOP strategist, claims that the union won’t have much of an impact regardless of how much money it spends. He believes this is simply an effort to intimidate some of the Republican legislators who are currently in office. Spillane does believe, though, that SEIU support could be a negative for Republicans in the eyes of more conservative voters.

NBC’s PopZero blog also sees some potential issues with SEUI’s plans. To begin with, Republicans may simply use the same electoral strategy:

…the union likely will try to discourage Democrats from running in that district. Instead, the union will back a moderate Republican — and ask Democratic voters to do the same — in hopes that the moderate can advance to the general election and defeat whatever conservative Republican candidate emerges in a Republican district.

…If the union can keep Democrats out, you could see the GOP work to put up its own Democratic candidate to draw Democratic votes. This is likely to work to stop the SEIU strategy, for two reasons.

For one, while California’s districts tend to lean one way or the other in partisan battles, they are rarely so partisan as to produce two candidates of the same party.

There’s no telling how this will end, but it is surely a development to keep an eye on. This isn’t the first time that the SEIU has supported Republican candidates, nor is it the first instance in which the group has implemented intriguing strategies. Back in early 2010, the union tried to launch a third party in North Carolina.

SEIU has special agents working to corrupt the vote in favor of communist Barack Hussein Obama. They support SEIU Illegal Aliens and employee their own detectives to follow people on dark nights. SEIU Service Employees International Union is the most corrupt organization on earth and are fully backed by real life gangsters, union long armed thugs, illegal aliens, hard-left politicians, communists and socialists and their dodging the truth looking for a way to stop the SEIU internal revolt. The SEIU union members are dishonest thieves as many are illegal aliens, dodge taxes, talk trash and hate American values and its founders.
Write your representative and ask them if they have ever received benefit of one dollar from SEIU.
SEIU is in the protection racket and are known swindlers of the taxpayer. Barack Hussein Obama is the bridge between your money and the SEIU.
Ultimately the SEIU is a global communist organization and their members should be disconnected from their jobs and income.
    SEIU is dangerous.

Moderate republicans, you mean progressive republicans. SEIU and thier socialist-communists-marxists for years have endoresed the democratic platform of this country since before the turn of the 20th century and now they are learning that here recently, the republican platform is gaining strength in the minds of thier own in the labor unions.
What better way to keep bringing this country down by reversing some of thier old tactics in order to gain favor of thier own constituents in the labor force, or, the labor unions are loosing out because of the political shift happening now as we speak and are looking to survive any way they can and the views of the labor bosses are more toxic in nature and thier workers are seeing it for what it really is. It’s taking off the old set of sheeps clothing and putting new ones on, but still speaking like a moron.

So The Union is using the divide and concur tactic to further weaken their political enemy. If any one reading this thinks that SEIU is now championing divided government I have a bridge to sell them. I live in California and the Republican Party has been neutered by one party rule that has passed laws such as open primaries that allow anyone to vote in the Republican primary, there by giving the Left MSM great power in choosing who the Republican candidate will be. This is a Center Left State and because of that it is in a death spiral toward insolvency. As always IMO

I wonder what CA law allows registered voters to do in the primary and general election. If people can register one way in the primary and vote anyway in the general then we’d all best start registering for the opposite party just to prevent that party from running some nut job and then in the general election vote for our candidate. Of course neither party would then get the candidate it wants. Perhaps we should just allow all people to vote in each other’s primary if the so choose.

RED HERRING / SHILL CANDIDATES !!!!!

California recently passed “PROP 14” aka “TOP TWO”.

This means that there is a primary with lots of candidates and the top two vote getters, regardless of party go into the election. (I’m not 100% clear on the details beyond that)

There was great hubub over Prop 14, and similar propositions failed in the past (2004) due to the controversy – this could eliminate entire parties by filling the primary ballot with shills, splitting the vote so much that nobody in that party gets onto the final ballot, it also eliminates third parties in elections – in 2 states that already use “top two”, no third party candidate has ever passed into the actual election.

      Prop 14 also prohibits CAUCUSING!!!

This means a party cannot narrow down its own cadidates prior to the “top two” primary.

So, when SEIU loads the ballot with crappy “republican” candidates (RINOs), this splits the vote and could even eliminate ANY republican from getting onto the ballot!!!

      DO NOT IGNORE THIS!!!

MANY of them.. they have almost an even split but less for the Republicans by 2-3% who are INDEPENDENTS and that would be real REPUBLICANS not RINO’s .. and in MANY other states (don’t know how CA does their elections).. MANY people either DON’T vote in the primary where they have to declare.. OR.. they register one way and vote the other in the general election.. so UNLESS SEIU pulls each ballot of their members they really DON‘T know who’s voting for whom..and this could BURN them badly.. They have proven their goal is power at all costs…..nothing else needs to be said……whoever SEIU backs is wrong for the job, regardless of party.

Absolutely we shouldn’t trust any union given especially given Wisconsin and elsewhere.

To all you fools who want to irradicate everyone who doesn’t have every little same belief as you do:

You people are fools. Way to go with that idiotic notion because you people will simply re-elect Obama and reinstall Pelosi as the Speaker of the House. Yeah Awesome job! You really think that dealing with Obama is the same as dealing anyone of these people you call RINOs???

Just because a person disagrees with you on one or two issues, does not make them a RINO, nor is it suficient to kick them out of the GOP. Do you honestly think that we are going to win the presidency or either legislative body by booting these people out of the party?

When you people make these spiteful accusation of RINO the only thing you accomplish is sounging about as rational as those prosecuting the witches during the Salem Witch Trials. And then many of you close your post with TEA! defaming everyone else that belongs to the Tea party.

We can’t win through exclusion. Winning is achieved by winning the argument and persuading everyone else to see things our way.

Another tactic to manipulate candidates and the whole voting process. These union people are not to be trusted and are gaming the system.
