SEIU Members Found ‘Not Guilty’ in Brutal Beating of Tea Party Activist

SEIU Members Found Not Guilty in Brutal Beating of Tea Party Activist

The blogosphere brings us a story, or rather, update about Kenneth Gladney. You might recall Gladney, the conservative Tea Party activist who, back in 2009, was called racial slurs, beaten and hospitalized by Rep. Russ Carnahan’s SEIU supporters while handing out “Don’t Tread on Me” flags at a health care town hall.  The following video shows a portion of the incident where at least one SEIU member was arrested:

Although weakened from the beating, Gladney, a cancer survivor, attended the protest against SEIU violence following his attack in St. Louis.

In April 2010 the SEIU members accused of assaulting Gladney pleaded not guilty.

But as the case went to trial Monday — nearly two years after the incident — justice might not have been served for the Tea Party hero. CBS reports the two SEIU members charged with the crime were found “not guilty”:

A Clayton jury acquits two union members of assault in an August 2009 brawl outside a town hall forum.

During the two day trial Kenneth Gladeny testified that SEIU member Elston McCowan through the first punch, and then another union member Perry Molens jumped in.

But the defense told the jury that Gladney threw the first blow and that video taken of the fight shows only the end of it, not the beginning.

This video captures Gladney’s reaction to the verdict:

Our justice system seems to be batting a thousand lately, doesn’t it?

This is typical of the St.Louis courts. The Factories and the the rest of industry here are closed or gone. These union thugs and leftist activist are the same thing in this city. That is why I no longer live there. They all want everything for nothing and no one, and I mean NO ONE, takes any personal responsibility for any action unless they think they can get a dollar out if it. St.Louis is little more than a housing district now. Jobs are non existant and small businesses are extinct in comparison with a few years ago before the auto industry collapsed here. Like Michigan we had a major presence from all three auto manufacturers here, all gone now. The support industry has dried up and the rest of the companies that still have operations here are down to fractions of their full manufacturing capacity.

So we end up with a city that has nearly the highest murder rate, and many crimes go unpunished for those that are connected, wether to a union or a political family. The only money floating around is from those that have gov’t jobs, social security or welfare checks. Its a ghost town that forgot to tell the people to leave.

And please Tiffany Gabbay, you’re gonna give conservatives a bad name with careless writing like this:

Of course I don’t know what happened. I wasn’t a juror and neither were any of you. You didn’t hear what the jury heard or saw. You‘ve just seen this video and read this website’s interpretation. Fine, we’re all entitled to an opinion bases on what this website chooses to show you.

I was outraged by the Casey Anthony verdict, but I got over that. The Founders were wise and experienced. Western Democracies all believe that it is better to let a bad guy go free than to convict an innocent person. The reason for that is because the vast history in the world, in every culture and every country, innocent people were convicted and executed of trumped up charges at the whim of some powerful person or some mob.

You may think the court system protects the guilty. Actually it protects YOU. It protects you from whatever person or governmental agency decides you’ve committed a crime. It protects your against mob justice. I’d think all the paranoids out there would appreciate that protection, but I guess not.

Once again JZS tries to sound like a reasonable person, vested in the Constitution. But he just doesn’t get it. Or he intentionally tries to mislead. The court system doesn’t protect me from the government. It is the government. It didn’t protect Mr. Gaffney, did it? He was assaulted and the perpetrators went free. It didn’t protect the landowners in the Kelo case, did it? And we could list thousands more cases in which the courts didn’t protect the victims or the innocent.

Anyone who thinks that the courts will protect them from the government is nuts. Only you can protect yourself from the government, or from this sort of statist thinking.

I fly all the time for my job (supporting steel manufacturers in the US and the world), and I‘ve heard people whine that it’s the COMPANIES’ fault our economy is in the toilet here. Seriously? Did anyone pay attention to the looting that occurred under Mayor Freeman Bosley, Jr.?

This is the same Mayor that wanted to “tax St. Charles County for stealing St. Louis residents”. I’m dead serious, that was a quote from the St. Louis Post Disgrace.

@True ~ The reason given is the counter evidence produced by the defendant’s attorney. Whether that evidence was accurate or even true is irrelevant. It’s the overall effect of the that evidence and how it may or may not influence a jury or judge. It’s too easy to hear these verdicts and say that the process is broken. Based on the pre-trial evidence in the Anthony trial, I called a “not guilty” verdict last year. Not guilty doesn’t mean innocent.

The system works! It’s been under attack by activist judges for a good while, and that needs to change. It works better than you can imagine, and I am thankful for its existence because we’re all going to need that system to save our Republic.

After reading the actual testimony of the “victim”, well it does sound suspicious. He went in a wheelchair to the event then got the hell beat out of him and was suddenly capable of walking? Justice was not served. He should have been cited for inciting a riot and those on video ( obviously on video) engaging in violence should have been punished also. It was obvious. But I do think there should be some question about the intentions of the victim. Just calling yourself a teapartier doesn’t make you “pure as the wind driven snow”.

      Don’t be racist!…………………

That being said, I am fumming over the fact that it was video taped and the thugs got off anyway!

I read in a blog about a week ago that there is an organization called the “CES” Constitution Enforcement Society. They claim that they will be watching this upcomming elections and if there is any SEIU/Union intimidation, that they will eliminate the people who are doing the intimidation. I hope their families talk some sense into them. I believe this group means business and has over 5000 people spread out in the United States. Has anyone else read about this group?

Justice is in the eyes of the be-Holder. Eric Holder is a disgrace to the law profession. When you have a adminstration that is so incompetent and corrupt, you either agree with them or be punished. We are being attacked from within by a force of anti-American socialists bent on transforming our nation into a nation Orwell would understand.

This case or any other it does not matter. Your hero Holder is a joke and should go. Related to this case or not. Your brand of sense is one we do not need.
We have already figured out there is no hammer big enough to knock sense in to you. IMO

As time goes on, your arguments only get more pathetic. They would be laughable if it weren’t so truly sad. Are you feeling angry enough to attempt to “knock some sense” into someone? The weakest among you, talk the loudest from your keystrokes. You are a loudmouth, punk.

Where are all of the protests in the streets calling this decision racist. Whenever a black person is the victim, people rush court houses and train stations, break windows and act like heathens. This is obviously a case that the regular black people don’t follow?

What a shame. I’m certain that a lone cancer survivor selling flags decided to assault multiple SEIU thugs. Makes sense to me. Still the system found them to be Not Guilty. Any civil lawyers out there to run a Ron Goldman on these punks? Anyone have the defendants addresses? Maybe they need a little SEIU protest on their front lawns. Anyone who knows these bozos should treat them like the pariahs that they are.

It is too bad they do not have a JUSTICE system.
They are so concerned over the rights of the criminal, they forget about the compensation to the victims.
