SEIU Protesters Disrupt Ohio Senators’ Dinner, Accost Restaurant Workers

Ohio’s fight over collective bargaining spoiled dinner for a number of Republican state lawmakers Wednesday evening.

SEIU Protesters Disrupt Ohio Senators Dinner, Accost Restaurant Workers

Easy Street Cafe

Following the state Senate’s vote to limit the bargaining power of public employees, a group of union protesters burst into a local eatery and confronted a small group of GOP senators who were having dinner.  The Columbus Dispatch reports:

After the vote on Senate Bill 5, seven Republican senators, including President Tom Niehaus, R-New Richmond, grabbed dinner at the Easy Street Cafe. As the lawmakers neared the end of their meal, a group of five to 10 union supporters angry about the passage of the bill hours before burst into the restaurant and began shouting.

The commotion eventually led to pushing and shoving with the restaurant staff and owner, before police arrived to calm the situation as a police helicopter hovered overhead. No senators were involved in the physical altercations, and no charges have been filed.

“It could have (gotten physical),” said Sen. Frank LaRose, 31, a Fairlawn Republican who served as a Green Beret. “The group was agitated and they were shoving the owner, and he had nothing to do with this.”

LaRose said it didn’t take special intelligence training to notice that while the lawmakers were eating, a woman walked past the window several times, poked her head in the door and got on her cell phone.

“It was planned,” LaRose said. “They gathered as a group and waited until they had about 10 people before they caused a disturbance.”

When the group burst into the restaurant, the woman, Monica Moran, deputy director of public affairs for SEIU District 1199, raised her hands in the air, yelled “Can I have your attention?“ and then shouted ”something nasty,” LaRose said. Soon after, the rest of the group of men and women joined in with a chant.

Restaurant owner George Stefanidis says police came after the protesters refused to leave. Witnesses said Stefanidis and his restaurant staff tried to hold the group back from the senators, but the altercation got heated when the agitators began pushing and shoving.

“They stormed through my dining room,” Stefanidis said.  “I told them they had to leave, and they wouldn’t.  There were about 70 people in the restaurant at the time.

“I understand [the protesters'] argument, but they should do that some other place,” he added.  “It just ruined the whole night.”

Moran, however, was unapologetic about the ambush.  “The moment of discomfort Senate Republicans may have felt as a result of my expressing my opinion pales in comparison to the extreme discomfort and financial hardships that public employees will endure as a result of SB5.”

When you have the president inciting you “to get in their face” this is just the start of the escalation. The GOP are notorious cowards when the pressure is applied and thugs sense the fear. The calls for violence are starting to be more common.Christie, Kasich and Walker are the keys holding the labor movement in reasonable check.

Pathetic lazy public sector hacks…. Public employees do SQUAT for work and are WAY overpaid. Instead of making public sector jobs 1/3 more lucrative than private sector jobs I think the taxpayers should unite and make then 1/3 LESS than private sector counterparts. Now, go back and do your best to put on your thinkin’ cammo cap, maybe douse yourself in some deer urine, go sit in a tree stand and be reeeeeaaaaaal quiet. Some innocent defenseless woodland creature will come along soon enough, and you can shoot it from a safe distance while concealed behind the the cover of nature’s canopy. then you can waddle up and have your picture taken holding its dead head in your hands. Then, of course, leave it to rot because your’e too effing lazy to field dress it and haul it out.

“Public employees?“ Did she say ”Public employees?” You mean they work for us? The public? If so, then she needs to be worried about what her employer, THE PUBLIC, is going to say on her next job performance review. Since a majority, a VAST majority, are members of the PUBLIC, but NOT members of a union, she and her cohorts better start treating her BOSS with just a tad more respect. Same thing with cowardly elected officials.

As we have learned here in Wisconsin, there is no one to do the policing. The cops are in on it, the courts are in on it, the thugs will bust your head(or your business) if you so much as serve the “enemy”.
Folks, we are on our own. The only way out is to convince the malevolent to feed on themselves. It can be done, but to stay true to our(conservative) beliefs it needs to be done carefully and thoughtfully. Research what they do,find out who does it(by name), and find the weakness in that person. Personalize it. All have weaknesses,do not let your anger blind you. Do not do something you cannot live with down the road. Be true to your beliefs. Now is when the weak fold up shop and run to another state. Be smart and capitalize on the weakness that is inherent in immoral behavior. Not the same in everyone, but similar.

It is bad enough that these Union thugs feel free to terrorize innocent people, but to have our so-called officers of the law tanding by and doing nothing is even worse. The Union thugs are only being what they are, brain dead muscle for the bosses, but the Police have supposedly taken an oath to uphold the LAW not their Union brotherhood. The Law enforcement benevolent organizations are begging right now. I have put them on notice that not only are they not getting any money today, they won’t get any money for any of their affiliated organizations. Basically they are poison until they sit their *sses down and do their jobs. To serve and protect and not just those who agree with them. DO NOT DO THIS ALONE. This will only work in concert with as many others as you can muster. We are two businesses, and we involved close to a hundred others before we did this.

I am not an expert on history. However, all of this stuff with the unions sounds like the brownshirts in Germany prior to Hitler taking control. The scary thing is the Obama administration is encouraging the unions to fight and is completely ignoring the right of Wisconsin to govern themselves. Obama’s administration encouraging the thugs will only embolden them especially if they are not arrested for their illegal actions by the unionized police. No conspiracy theory here? However, the whole thing stinks.

I am not an officer of the law, so I don’t know what violations, if any, transpired. That said, I think this behavior is unconscionable, and would love to see unions abolished, then we won’t have to wonder any more.

Let them bash THEIR OWN heads in, give them time, when things are going bad, thugs cannibalize. Retribution is expected……on their own. The trick is to find connections. You are correct and it seems like this could be considered a terrorist attack. They don’t have to hurt and kill people and it still be a terrorist attack. In fact I feel that they should be called “Obama’s Terroristas”

You see when Americans wave the US flag and sing God bless America at a public place, its hate speech
if they do the same facing jihadies, then it is islamophobia,
if they do the same inside a Church , then it is bigotry ,

Moran, however, was unapologetic about the ambush. “The moment of discomfort Senate Republicans may have felt as a result of my expressing my opinion pales in comparison to the extreme discomfort and financial hardships that public employees will endure as a result of SB5.”

…And screw anybody that gets in the way! Including innocent restaurant staff and other hard working people who just wanted a nice dinner. Typical liberals, selfish and child-like, with no regard for the innocent.

OK I was born and raised in CHICAGO and KNOW all about the mob mentality of the unions.. this will stop when the unions people start getting their butts beat by citizens who are SICK of their BS.. like oh say the CUSTOMERS in the restaurant ..or the owner and wait staff press charges against them.. IF I had been the waitstaff that got harassed BETTER believe I would be pressing charges.. ( I was a waitress).. or defending myself against thugs.. all I have to say is BOTH sides better watch their backs..cause that’s where creeps like these like to attack.. they are cowards..

Sounds to me like they should have been arrested for:
      trespassing, disorderly conduct, and assault.
The problem is they weren’t, so they seem to accept the fact this is a condoned behavior and will repeat it. Once again, the rule of law is not adhered to for the liberal progressives to which they believe they are above such things. Until Americans demand the laws be adhered to, such as the border, hiring illegal labor, etc., then this crap will continue.

So what else could be expected of the SEIU?

The Communist unions are trying to control the government, and that should not be allowed. Another thing that should not be allowed is the “kill switch” for Obama to use on the Internet. The media is toast except for Fox News. That is the reason Obama hates Fox so much and the reason the lamestream sucks up to him — so they won’t be silenced.

The businesses of Wisconsin need to look a class action suit to recoup their losses. The taxpayers of Wisconsin need to get their AG to file suit for the Union made mess. Have the courts seize the Union assets. Make the Unions spread their wealth around. And Somebody tell Obama there won’t be anything left to donate to a re-election campaign. SEIU’s Rivera in Ohio

“When the group burst into the restaurant, the woman, Monica Moran, deputy director of public affairs for SEIU District 1199, raised her hands in the air, yelled “Can I have your attention?“ and then shouted ”something nasty,” LaRose said. Soon after, the rest of the group of men and women joined in with a chant. ”

SEIU District 1199 – Dennis Rivera’s NY local

Remember that name. Rivera wields a big stick in SEIU

THE DEALMAKER – A UNION BOSS WITH HUGE POLITICAL POWER, DENNIS RIVERA MADE THE CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL AGREEMENT POSSIBLE. OBSERVERS SAY HE’S A SKILLED MEDIATOR — BUT HE CAN PLAY HARDBALL.
Buffalo News, The (NY) – Sunday, April 7, 2002
Author: TOM PRECIOUS and CHARITY VOGEL – News Staff Reporters

      EXCERPT

He started his life and his union career in Puerto Rico. Back then, Rivera went by the name Dennis Hickey — using the last name of his Irish father.

In Puerto Rico, he honed his organizing skills as a Vietnam War protest leader and started two unions. In 1977, he moved to New York City, where he began his life’s work of organizing health care workers. Along the way, he took on his mother’s surname — Rivera . Today he cites his Puerto Rican roots as a major factor in his success.

In New York, Rivera started out at the bottom of the union food chain: as an organizer, a job with little glamour and little pay but, especially in New York City, a job that demands street smarts and maybe even a bit of hustling.

Rivera rose through the ranks. In 1989, just 12 years after he arrived from San Juan, he gained control of what today is Local 1199 of SEIU , the Service Employees International Union. That union includes 210,000 members — orderlies, cafeteria workers and clerks — who are some of the industry’s lowest-paid workers.

Rivera is also president of the New York State Council of SEIU , a 325,000-member umbrella group that includes 1199 Upstate, which represents 17,000 health care workers from Buffalo to Albany. He makes $103,000 a year — modest by the standards of downstate labor bosses.

Along the way, as Rivera rose to power, politicians learned all about his importance — especially those who relied on his help to make it into office.

In that category are former President Bill Clinton, New York City politicians, and U.S. Sens. Hillary Rodham Clinton and Charles E. Schumer.

“If you want to have one guy in your corner,” Schumer said, “he’s probably the one.”

These are typical Alinsky tactics. Thousands of his books have been distributed to Obama’s various groups, teaching them the “community organizer” methods These methods involve chanting, waving flags, shouting down opposition., and now violence. Union members are being utilized as “useful idiots” by the communist union bosses, and by Obama, who is running the show. The head of the AFL-CIO boasted o f meeting with Obama 2-3 times a week in the White House, and speaking with him daily on the phone. They sent out the directives to the union bosses, telling them where to order the workers to march, what to chant, and providing signs, etc.
The union bosses want the dues deducted from the pay of members to provide themselves with huge salaries and money to finance Democrats. They do not want members to have secret balloting, because they want to be able to threaten members who don’t vote as ordered.
Our teachers, police and firefighters are being used to advance a communist takeover of our nation.
