Is SEIU Using Unionization to Extort Medicaid Money From Home Caregivers?

Michigan’s elderly citizens have a problem — their Medicare money may be funding unions rather than their own care. Breitbart.com reports that following a scheme by the SEIU to unionize home care givers for elderly people and disabled children, the SEIU has been pilfering millions of dollars from Michigan’s coffers in mandatory dues — dollars that could have gone toward higher wages for caregivers, or better care being offered. Watch a video courtesy of the Mackinac Center for Public Policy explaining the problem here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xhe-9kAkq5I
The Blaze has covered this topic before. We brought you the story of Robert and Patricia Haynes – two parents in Michigan who the SEIU has been collecting dues from for taking care of their own children. Shame is apparently not this particular group’s strong suit.
And — and this may surprise a few Michiganders — Republicans may be letting the unions get away with this by refusing to bring up a bill that pans this sort of skimming. From the Breitbart story:
Here’s the whole story: In Michigan, many disabled people receive public subsidies, which they can then use to hire caretakers. Very often, those disabled people are cared for by their parents, who use the subsidies to ensure proper care for their children.
Thanks to former Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm (D), back in 2005, the SEIU was able to rope these caretakers into a union in an unpublicized election in which 80 percent of the caretakers didn’t vote. But, you say, these people weren’t government employees. Why would they need a union? The answer is simple: they don’t. The SEIU simply wanted to unionize these folks to allow them to extract forced dues. Those dues are skimmed off of Medicaid payments, and handed over to the union. The result: $29 million poured into the SEIU’s coffers since 2007.[...]
In 2011, the Michigan House voted to stop this scam by stating that receiving government subsidies didn’t make one eligible for a union. That measure has now stalled in the Michigan Senate, thanks to Michigan Republicans. Why don’t they stop the SEIU? Maybe it’s because Senate Appropriations Committee Chair Sen. Roger Khan (R-Saginaw) took $5,000 from the SEIU … on the same day the House bill made its way to the Senate.
Given Michigan Governor Rick Snyder’s clashes with unions, this particular fact may surprise some readers. However, the publicity generated by Sen. Khan’s stance may force his hand on this subject sooner than expected.

Posted on March 8, 2012 at 12:52pmWhen I got out of AFLCIO it was like getting a raise. A guy put a pad knife to my throat and I filed a greivance and the Union wouldn’t do it, deeming it horseplay. They didn‘t won’t to lose a due payer. A month later he was fired anyway so they lost 2 union payers. I read a couple of weeks ago where a city in California was raising dues from $92.00 to $126.00. I’m sure if asked they would tell the folks that Obama is in a fight to win and he will need that $$ billion bucks.

And would also train new blood in the particular field that trade guide is for. For example, trade guild for Computers would train and certify a person in the profession they want to be employed in and help find the job and employer they want to work for. Employers can choose beginner, intermediate, ot expert worker all depending on how much they want to pay that worker.

Yeah, I thought so.
When Americans wake up they will see that the unions ARE obunglers “domestic army”. But by then it will be too late. The modern communists will already be in your front door.

The problem here is some people have been conditioned since early childhood to believe it’s the government’s responsibility to do everything for them.
No wonder the unions feel embolden.
Have a brother who is a UAW member and married to a member of the SEIU.
They deeply believe the GM bailout was necessary.
“Screw the investor, they deserver what they got.”
They will never understand a soviet style government ripped off capital investors.
In addition, over the past 2½ years, they’ve been instructed on how to managed everything available to them, instead of using their own talents to improve their lives.
Report Post »They’ve filed for bankruptcy, use food stamps and even managed to work out something with her SSI while she’s still working, as both proudly pay union dues.
They’ll laugh about it all the way to their graves.
After years of conditioning, that’s their mindset now.
As Karl Marx said … useful idiots

Posted on March 8, 2012 at 12:01amWell just one more thing that the we need to keep pushing for 2012. We need to wake people up. I still have a small hope that the people will vote out all the corupt people in their states and at the fed level to install new, younger, and Constitutional minded people.
DHS, EPA, IRS, FBI, NSA, and any other three letter symbol of our government is used to attack and intimidate the American People,. The Next question is why is DHS using a map made by the UN to cut up America into 10 Regions with a Territory (PR) in a leadership Role. This comes right from the DHS website. I know as I post this that the government will do its best to scrub the map but I did confirm with sorces within system that the FEMA camps are here and ready for use. That is why DHS has its own police force. DHS should not have its own police force it was made to be a top level advisory not an active para military unit. Which rasies the next question of Are these units military, police or something far worse, a military contractor above the law?

Posted on March 7, 2012 at 11:12pmIndividualism founded America and made it great.
Collectivism has undermined the economies of many many nations.
Wealth is created when there is equal exchange on both sides of the equation.
OWS stands for Obstinate Wealth Stealing and Obfuscating Why we Steal.
They don’t want their “fair” share, they want something they have not labored for.
Again, wealth is created by fair exchange, not confiscating the physical monies from the other side, but providing something of value to a party at liberty to choose for themselves whether to participate.
When all parties are free to choose their economic behavior, the power of the economy is distributed and amplified among EVERYONE.
When central planners DICTATE economic behavior, the energy of the economy is diminished to just the central planning monopoly, which makes for a very very inefficient economic engine.
When the government intrudes into private transactions, the results are inefficient wealth distribution and the spark plug of the economy sputters, stalls, and chokes.

Posted on March 7, 2012 at 10:38pmMichigan Senate Appropriations Committee Chair Roger Khan, R-Saginaw, received $5,000 from the Service Employees International Union on June, 9, 2011. That was the day House Bill 4003 was sent to the Senate, one day after its passage in the House.
According to multiple sources, Sen. Kahn was put in charge of HB 4003 after it was sent to the Senate floor in late 2011. Delaying passage of HB 4003 in the Senate keeps the dues flowing to the SEIU.
Last spring the Legislature de-funded MQC3, but emails show that Kahn worked behind the scenes over the summer to keep the forced unionization structure intact, which, in turn, keep the deductions flowing to SEIU. Those emails were obtained by Mackinac Center for Public Policy through a Freedom of Information Act request.

Our problems run deeper …
There’s a reason IRS rules are structured the way they are.
The rules are intended to be complicated so the only thing it encourages is implied deceit, resulting in suspicion, distrust, fines, penalties and ultimately, imprisonment and wealth confiscation.
In other words, the government sees all wealth as theirs.
It’s impossible to follow their rules regarding ‘their’ money, so we’re deemed criminals.
The way our society should be structured is the government should be forced to use our money wisely with strict accountability, not the other way round.
The answer?

Wake up
The federal government will have us killed before they give up their weapon, the Internal Revenue Service, and the new HCA increases that power and gets them closer to that end.
Over the years, The fed gov (especially the socialists) has carefully and cleverly manipulated the federal tax laws to impugn citizens who work, and protect those who don’t work.
Most politicians will never give up their precious power unless they’re tossed out on their butts.
Washington DC has more scammers, schemers and crooks then a fleet of pirate ships.
It’s a gang, get it?
The biggest slap in the face of the working people of this nation was when the states ratified the federal income tax.
It is my opinion that was the beginning of the end of our freedom.
The states should have never ratified a federal tax, instead they should have protected their people and told the federal government to take a phuging hike.
This is the United States of America, not the State of America.
It is further my opinion that anyone doing business in this nation can pay a federal tax.
Report Post »It’s called a national sales tax.
The working people have had enough of the federal government ******* all over them.
I hear it every day, day after day.
Taxpayers can’t even follow the behemoth tax code, and when they try, they get screwed.
In addition, CPA’s and accountants are nothing more then enablers.
