Who Is Behind the ‘US Day of Rage’ to ‘Occupy’ Wall Street this September 17th?

US Day of Rage Non Violent Civil Disobedience Wall Street

What, exactly, is a “US Day of Rage?” Well, on September 17th we may find out for certain, but until then, The Blaze is revealing what information does exist about this very nefarious-sounding campaign.

US Day of Rage is the title given to a day of ostensibly “non-violent” civil disobedience orchestrated by a group of radicals — that reportedly include SEIU’s Stephen Lerner and ACORN founder Wade Rathke (who, coincidentally, formerly served as president of SEIU’s local New Orleans branch) — targeting Wall Street and U.S. capitalism. It’s worth noting that the title of the movement — if its intentions are indeed non-violent in nature — appears to contradict itself slightly.

But what is perhaps even more interesting than its title is who is allegedly behind the movement.

US Day of Rage Non Violent Civil Disobedience Wall StreetYou may recall that back in March The Blaze exposed Lerner for stating his aspirations to destroy JP Morgan Chase and cause the collapse of the entire stock market.

Now, the US Day of Rage protests, staged by a collective of activist groups allegedly in conjunction with Lerner and Rathke, are planning the actual “occupation” of Wall Street September 17, complete with a tent city set smack-dab in the middle of Manhattan’s financial district.  Similar protests are purportedly set to take place across the nation — and even world — at the same time. Some Day of Rage organizers are even calling on activists to squat in Manhattan’s financial district for months at a time.

The Blaze’s report on Lerner, who serves on SEIU’s International Executive Board, caught the union agitator stating:

So, a bunch of us around the country are thinking about who would be a really good company to hate? We decided that would be JP Morgan Chase. …. And so we’re going to roll out over the next couple of months what will hopefully be an exciting campaign about JP Morgan Chase that is really about challenge the power of Wall Street. And so what we’re looking at is in the first week of May, we get enough people together – we’re starting now – to really have a week of action in New York with the goal of … I don’t want to go into any details because I don’t know which police agents are in the room, but the goal would be that we would roll out in New York the first week in May.

Then, like clockwork, some 400 activists brought Lerner’s dream to fruition and converged on JP Morgan Chase’s annual shareholders’ meeting in May — this time in Columbus, Ohio rather than New York. The group that staged this particular protest, the National People’s Action, reportedly confirmed it was there as part of its “Showdown in America” campaign against the big banks. Since the location of JP Morgan Chase’s meeting was surrounded by a moat, the activists, who likened themselves to Robin Hood, even brought a collapsible bridge to “storm the castle.”

It is also perhaps worth noting that in March, The Blaze reported Rathke and Lerner called for “days of rage in ten cities around JP Morgan Chase.” Rathke mentioned some of Lerner’s key assertions:

While labeling Lerner an ex-SEIU official who was signaling that unions and community organizations were “dead,” also reported hook-line-and-sinker that in May, according to Lerner, there would be days of rage in ten cities around JP Morgan Chase signally the beginning of the anti-banking jihad.

So it might add up now that Klein Online reported Rathke’s efforts are being organized by Lerner, who, as part of his planned protests, called for “a week of civil disobedience, direct action all over the city:”

The planned Sept. 17 day of rage seems to be the culmination of Rathke’s efforts.

Those efforts are being organized by Stephen Lerner, an SEIU board member who reportedly visited the Obama White House at least four times.

The aim, according to Lerner, is to “destabilize the folks that are in power and start to rebuild a movement.”

“How do we bring down the stock market? How do we bring down their bonuses? How do we interfere with their ability to, to be rich?” Lerner asked rhetorically in March.

So, it appears, Columbus could have been one of the ten U.S. cities en route to New York for the “big day.”

Listen to The Blaze original video from March where Lerner, who has been dubbed a domestic terrorist, reveals his true intentions about JP Morgan. Then read further as we explain how the upcoming Day of Rage campaign in September could actually serve as the launchpad for Lerner’s war against JP Morgan and Wall Street as a whole:

Below is Lerner’s response to The Blaze’s audio that captured his damning statements:

In a follow-up report later in March, The Blaze revealed that Lerner penned an OpEd in a progressive publication outlining his campaign to bring down the economy and “stoke simmering discontent into concrete, concerted direct action“ in a move to ”turn the tables” on Wall Street.

US Day of Rage Non Violent Civil Disobedience Wall Street

But the Days of Rage campaign might go even further than originally thought. While one US Day of Rage website is somewhat vague about its slated activities, other Days of Rage organizers are quite bold in revealing their intentions to occupy Wall Street September 17 and remain there for literally months, in a kind of “US Tahrir Square.“AdBusters published a statement by a group dubbed ”Culture Jammers” that states:

On September 17, we want to see 20,000 people flood into lower Manhattan, set up tents, kitchens, peaceful barricades and occupy Wall Street for a few months. Once there, we shall incessantly repeat our one simple demand until Barack Obama capitulates.

…there is a very real danger that if we naively put our cards on the table and rally around the “overthrow of capitalism” or some equally outworn utopian slogan, then our Tahrir moment will quickly fizzle into another inconsequential ultra-lefty spectacle soon forgotten. But if we have the cunning to come up with a deceptively simple Trojan Horse demand …

See you on Wall St. Sept 17. Bring Tent.

US Day of Rage Non Violent Civil Disobedience Wall Street

Not to mention the myriad coordinated Days of Rage AdBusters reveals are set to roll out at other stock exchanges worldwide:

Inspired by the visceral potential of the Wall Street occupation, the Indignados of Spain just sent us word that on September 17th they too will set up camp outside the Madrid Stock Exchange. The surprise announcement, that their #TOMALABOLSA will join your #OCCUPYWALLSTREET, may embolden other cities as well. A rumor suggests the financial district of Paris may be next … or will it be Toronto’s Bay Street, Sydney’s Martin Place, or some yet to be chosen site in London?

Then on October 6th another kind of encampment begins in Washington, DC.

With a bit of luck, and the right mix of nonviolence and tenacity, S17 just might cascade into a Tahrir Moment on an international scale – wouldn’t that be something?

We call on jammers across the world to occupy financial districts on September 17:

But if a group of enraged activists — endorsed by the likes of Stephen Lerner — occupying Wall Street with tent cities were not enough — it actually gets worse. The term “Day of Rage” finds origin in “Days of Rage,“ a violent set of riots waged in Chicago in 1969 by the Weathermen’s Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn. The Weather Underground terrorist organized his “Rage” in an attempt to bring troops back home from Vietnam. Similarly, this most recent US Day of Rage is co-organized by a group that calls itself “The War Resistance League.”

Yet despite Ayers’ initial claim that his Day of Rage, too, would be “non-violent,” during the four day rampage that started in Chicago’s historic Lincoln Park, the Weathermen arrived in full-clad battle gear, helmets and weapons in tow, and called on activists to kill the rich and even their own parents.

During an interview with Chicago Mag, Ayers, with no regrets, summed up his riot’s intended purpose, stating, ”kill all the rich people. Break up their cars and apartments. Bring the revolution home, kill your parents—that‘s where it’s really at.

US Day of Rage Non Violent Civil Disobedience Wall Street

As if inciting legions of radicals to kill anyone — rich or poor — were not abhorrent enough, Ayers and crew took it that one step further by calling on people to murder their own parents. One wonders if those taking part in the newly reborn Day of Rage, staged by ACORN and SEIU affiliates, harbor the same deep seated blood-lust and penchant for violence in their own hearts.

Ayers went on to explain away his Day of Rage, saying, “the rhetoric was excessive because the times were excessive.”

“The war had escalated, so naturally the language escalated. No one thought I meant that literally.” But as it turns out, Ayers did.

US Day of Rage Non Violent Civil Disobedience Wall Street

As the Weathermen marched on, smashing windows and vandalizing property through the tear-gassed streets of Chicago, nearly 300 militants were arrested and over 60 people were injured. Some reports estimate the damage climbed to hundreds of thousands of dollars, which, four decades ago, was a steep price indeed.

US Day of Rage Non Violent Civil Disobedience Wall StreetBut, never breaking with character, the remorseless Ayers trivialized the destruction, stating that ”the Days of Rage was an attempt to break from the norms of kind of acceptable theatre of ‘here are the anti-war people: containable, marginal, predictable, and here‘s the little path they’re going to march down, and here’s where they can make their little statement.’ We wanted to say, “No, what we’re going to do is whatever we had to do to stop the violence in Vietnam.’”

Similarly, two of the activists from the new Day of Rage revealed similar intentions when they explained that physically “putting your body in the way” of an injustice is more effective than traditional means of non-violent protests.

But to Ayer’s delight, his Days of Rage ended with his band of radical protesters marauding the streets of Chicago causing complete destruction.

“The streets became sparkling and treacherous with the jagged remains of our rampage,” a nostalgic Ayers wrote about his window-smashing ”crystal chaos.”

Meanwhile, the broader US Day of Rage movement, that also operates under the moniker, “Occupy Wall Street,“ states it is an ”idea not a party” and lists its basic tenets and principles on the official website. Under the heading “We Have Had Enough,” Day of Rage states:

Legitimate government is born of the self-interest and will of the people expressed by its citizens in free and fair elections. It does not spring from a tyranny of special interests, patronage, or a system or ideology that runs counter to the aims of life.

The institutions of government were designed to protect the principles of our democratic republic and to serve the will of citizens.

Corporations, even those owned by foreign shareholders, use money to act as the voices of millions, while individual citizens, the legitimate voters, are silenced and demoralized by the farce.

US Day of Rage’s mission statement also says it is “here to help facilitate state and city level organization, and to organize the federal protest at the U.S. Capitol.”

So now we will have to wait and see what becomes of the latest Days of Rage incarnation. We are, however, given a little insight into the thinking some organizers of the US Day of Rage via several informational videos posted on Rage’s website.

The “how to” videos and“handbook” on civil disobedience provided by the movement’s organizers do include instruction on how to resist arrest and disrupt court hearings. Not a hopeful sign they intend to remain on the “civil” side of disobedience.

In the video, one of the organizers even likens his movement to Gandhi’s. We wonder what Gandhi would say about the use of the word “rage” at all, let alone if the protests turn out the same, violent way the Weathermen’s did. Will these new radicals, lead by SEIU’s Stephen Lerner, rampage through the streets of New York, vandalizing property, injuring people and wreaking havoc until the tear gas is deployed? We shudder to think.

Below are two US Day of Rage informational videos and a copy of their “Handbook for Nonviolent Campaigns” can be found here.

Followed by a video that came under a section titled “Jailhouse Solidarity” that deals with legal issues that can arise from engaging in protests:

As Republicans and Tea partiers we don’t have to just take the opposite stance of SEIU and ACORN every time – in this instance I think they got it right.

The original Tea Party (Boston) was a mob, trespassed and destroyed private property. Protesting is part of the founding of America. However, I feel like these guys don’t have the same good intentions, they seem to revel in the chaos and destruction. What do they expect to gain from this? Do they think the CEO’s, Bankers etc… will come out of their office and beg for forgiveness and give them all money?

Disruption at this scale seems overkill for this situation, they seem to be picking on what they think is a common enemy to all Americans so the rest of us kinda want to join them, or we don’t blame them for hating Wall Street. I think a lot of this is pent up rage fomented during the Bush era, they just weren’t organized enough back then to strike out, but now they feel the President has there backs so they can cut loose.

And how do they have time for this stuff? Doesn’t any of them work? Jeez…

Protesting isnt the same thing as trying to disrupt commerce and intentionally creating chaos. If you weren’t such an idiot that would be obvious to you hood rat. But if Glenn is wrong he welcomes it! He’s said plenty of times when he was on Fox that he hoped he was wrong. Let’s hope this fizzles out too! But which would you rather do, be prepared and nothing happen or not be prepared and and something big happen? Think about it.

I got nothing against peaceful protests. PEACEFUL. I mean do it correctly. Obtain the permit, take the day, do the protest or the march down the designated path you acquired the permit for. That is respectful, lawful and dignified.

I DO have a problem with “protests” that are actually riots. The wonton destruction of private property, the disruption of commerce and business, the intimidation of people and the creation of chaos is not a “protest”. That’s an unruly unlawful mob and should be dealt with as such.

As I see it though, these groups do not want to “protest” in a constructive or lawful manner. They intentionally want to be an unruly and unlawful mob. They want to conduct themselves in this manner because they want to generate hate for those that they hate, and they even want to generate hate in the hearts of those that oppose them. Hate leads to violence and chaos. Violence and chaos will lead to a quicker achievement of their goals. I disagree with their views, but I have utter contempt for their methods. I wish they could conduct themselves in a respectful and professional manner rather than a hateful group of bullies.

      Hey BIGGEST_EFFIN_PATRIOT_YO,
Protesting is one thing…camping out and plotting to over throw the US way of doing business is called conspiracy along with a lot of other things…like, trespassing, unlawful disturbance, blocking the flow of free commerce, loitering, going to the bathroom on city property (which is what they’ll be doing) cooking without a permit, not abiding by standard health codes, obstructing traffic, being a public nuisance and on and on I could go. The city needs to put up a block cade several blocks away from wall street and only allow those who work in that area to enter. Then if they go forward with their plans blocks away to break all these laws, arrest them.

I’m adopting my new saying, “The US Days of Rage will land you in the Cage”….protecting the foundations of American Tradition.

There isn’t a damn thing a narrow minded, lifeless shill like you will learn here. Your pathetically underused brain could not even begin to comprehend us or our message. You see, we aren’t drones. We do however listen to reasonable and responsible people who tell us that if we want to know the truth we must seek it ourselves, for ourselves, so we can truly be enlightened and not spoon fed fools like you and the rest of your ilk. We listen to people that tell us we should read the federalist papers, the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, the Declaration of Independence, the speeches of Martin Luther King, Jr., etc. Now the only thing you should ask yourself is: What do you bring to the table? And based on your posts the only answer I see is: NOTHING. That being said, our advice to you is; open a book and put that mind of yours to work for once.

“Sort of related” to this article…

At city college (yes, I know, we’re not the pick of the litter…especially at 43) a lot of “kids” are wearing OBEY clothing. It’s easily recognizable because the artwork has all the Marxist/Communist style & imagery. It’s our kids that are blindly following these self proclaimed “ultra leftists”.

I can’t discuss politics with them because they get emotional & literally yell. It’s all about anger.

The artist for this clothing line did the “Change” logo for Obama. It was originally titles “PROGRESS”. I read Progressive into it because of the imagery it’s tied with. You will find only vague references on any related websites…it’s all about the Twitter, not the printed word. Exactly what “The Comming Insurrection” states to do…be covert.

What’s so deceptive about this movement is that “kids” are being taught through all media that all wealth is bad, that the earth is burning up, & that chaos is the only “good” way to exist. They don‘t realize they’re being played because it’s actual wealthy elitists that are behind this agenda.

Look for the clothing…that’s the brainwashed anarchists.

I understand that our government & big corporations are crippling our country and believe that cleaning house & prison time is very much in order. Peaceful demonstrations are NOT THE AGENDA.

Keep supplied & armed…it’s coming our way.

      God save us from ourselves.

If you disrupt normal commerce, impede the flow of traffic, block public streets and sidewalks in order to prevent the free flow of traffic, then you’re a thug. If you assemble, with a permit, and make yourself heard without doing the above, then you are demonstrating lawfully. So there, don’t try to pull the wool over our eyes about not being able to demonstrate.

I totally support peaceful gatherings and objections to Govt or entitities. But if some crazy comes on my lawn and won‘t leave when I ask nicely I’ll stand in my front door with one of my 3 shotguns with 00 buck loads.

Hire unlicensed Contractors !!! Do NOT pull Permits !!!
Quit being bullied by Criminals taking your money and regulating you, under the guise of protecting you !!! People get food poisoning in regulated and inspected restaurants !!! Licensed Contractors also rip people off and do shoddy work !!! How much longer are we going to sit back and watch little girls lemonade stands being shut down? Obama has deliberately started 6 wars to keep the State National Guards pined down overseas and unable to protect their states against this kind of violence. TEA is the only opposition but is not armed and remains non-violent which in the world of America today means dead. Obama is a communist. This means Obama is a communist.

Wouldn’t it be interesting if the Tea Party called people to share that day in Wall Street, and make it a day of protest against government out of control.
I can imagine CNN and the others covering how the “racist, violent” tea partiers disrupted Wall Street while leaving out of coverage what these communists are doing to destroy the US.
Another idea would be for the Tea Parties to disrupt the functioning of the Universities, that are so full of liberals and stay thee as long as Wall Street is ocuppied by the communists.
And, by the way, yes, communist is an insult.

So, they’ll all be in one place? If this country had any sense of it’s founding, it would solve the problem and rid this land of it’s enemy, NOW. The last time euro-trash-government-styled tyranny tried to oppress us, the common man (not the army or the gov) refreshed the tree of liberty with the blood of tyrants and patriots.(see Thomas Jefferson) We sent them back across the pond with their tail between their legs and preserved OUR rights.

Jefferson would hate the liberals but he would hate us more for doing nothing.

We have been brainwashed, marginalized and maligned. This gov and these spoiled, lazy brats are assaulting our rights. It is our right to REMOVE the gov; voting no longer works. (see declaration of independence)

Don’t Tread On Me (DTOM) is not a request or an ideology. It is a command and a warning. We are such a gutless nation. Holding flags that threaten death if we are violated (Gadsden Flag) at silly rallies where we are mocked. Then the gov rams through power-grab bills not written by Congress. That means they TREAD ON US. What do we do? Tell them we’ll get them in 2012?!? What a joke.

Beck’s pacifist message is ruining this country and is NOT part of the “founding fathers” he claims to understand. The day the health care manifesto was passed EVERYONE except Ron Paul should have been REMOVED from office on that day. Keep waiting for 2012 and vote on progressive/neo-con jokes like Perry, Santorum Cain, Bachmann, etc

There is a fine line between a demostration and an uruly mob, but that distinction can rapidy disappear when activists feel that their message is not being heard. Anybody who uses communist propaganda as their banner probably doesnt believe in long term “peaceful” protests. A peaceful protest involve stating your opinion but allowing business to continue uninterrupted. If these people have a problem with “fat cats” or “wall st. types” then they should beat these people at their own game. Buy enough shares of that company and then run it like they want to. Until then this is still America and owners and representatives of any company deserve the same protection that this protest will undoubtably claim if they are arrested.

it’s all part of the master plan. they are carrying out a concerted effort on all fronts to destabilize the country so they can step in and take power. the non-violent phase is currently under way with Obama and his Marxist appointments to his administration. the next phase will be these “non-violent” demonstrations that will turn violent – either through riots as seen in the UK, Greece, et al, or through intimidation of any counter protesters attempting to have their voice hear. Big Sis is just setting the stage so when that does occur, the Tea Party and any Conservatives out there will be to blame. Thereby, establishing yet another “crisis” where the Obamunist government will use it to create more executive regulations and further damage our 1st and 2nd Amendment rights. mark my words. this is the beginning of the Marxist / Socialist attempt to create chaos in our country. @LibertyLuvnMomma…What? The only thing in your comment that had any sense to it was the first sentence. Do you begin by teaching your little children calculus? Or do you think it might be wise to segregate them so one group doesn’t get board and the other is lost? In the church setting do you think it is appropriate to teach a 4 year old about chastity to the same level as a 17 year old? Or maybe it is wise to segregate them and teach each group at their level of understanding? The thought that life evolved from simple proteins with no program (DNA) to tell them what to do is false. However our knowlege continually evolves. To teach people separatley according to what the can comprehend is not darwinism, it just makes sense. As their comprehension grows they will learn more advanced concepts, either by self study or from a teacher of some sort.

They don’t have the right to disrupt the business of the public at large.
Their “rights” stop where other peoples freedom to go about their business starts.

What I don‘t understand is why the ’protest‘ isn’t given a set area to be conducted in…an area that would not cause disruption or destruction? The posting of the organizations intent is like having a riot advertised. The past history of the actions of the participants should be looked at and the violence headed off.
Like groups of racist skinheads counter demonstrating MLKs birthday, the groups are kept separated.
In this situation, the two groups are general public going about their business and the group who hates the system and business they conduct.
Keep them separated. The only way to do this is to keep the group who hates the general populations ‘business’ of going about their lives separated from where they go about their business.
Provide an area for the protest and have it contained there.
This is not an unusual format for protestors.
      Why is this not obvious??

There are many who know and shield him, as he was selected to impersonate a president to help destroy our values and our country. He gets an A for that. Obama speaks for others who really run this country. How is it possible for one person to be shredding the Constitution, enacting or denouncing laws from all angles, all at the same time?
There are continuous news reports about another change being implemented. Is this possible? Have you known any other president capable of doing this so quickly? Just as you start reading his corrupt changes, out comes more. Really!!!! Lerner, rathke, and the rest of the lowlife thugs, in a non-obama world, might spend a long time behind bars for their attempts to collapse our American way of life, but in obamaland, they are likely to be awarded Peace Prizes.

Think about if the Tea Party had a “day of rage” in the US. Homeland Security and the Obama administration would be getting people put on watch lists. Biden would be calling them “terrorists.” However, if you’re a Bolshevik and you want to have a Day of Rage, our government will provide security detail to make sure you can carry out your radical plans. Homeland Security will be watching anyone who isn’t all for some leftist Day of Rage. This country is so F’d up.

Take a look at who holds the reins of power in NYC and be very afraid. Gun laws are so restrictive that citizens of NY and NYC have no means of protecting themselves–criminals and union thugs do, but not the average person. Unless the great unwashed masses figure out they are on the road to enslavement and extermination, nothing will change other than who owns your butt.

If anyone is trying to destory our economy, it’s these jackwagons. Who will suffer most from attempts to destabilize our markets? The large unionized corporations.

Don’t worry though – Obama will swoop in and put on a show by dispersing the crowds with promises of wealth redistribution, a bump in corporate tax rates for non-unionized companies, and special tax breaks/incentives for unionized companies.

Domestic terrorism at it’s worst. Plenty of time for the DOJ to be out of town or on vacation or to make a positive public statement in advance of this outright terrorism. It will cost the taxpayers millions to just to control these terrorists and the insurance companies to pay for the fix, if they don’t cancell the policies due to the forwarning. I guess Napolitano will speak to the crowd as if they are poor misguided Tea Party followers, not to consider them terrorists. These guys were on the FBI‘s most wanted lists in the 60’s maybe the Feds will just do their job…..Not likely

You know that fist looks oddly familiar…..oh wait….I live in Wisconsin its the logo from the AFL-CIO union protest stooges! Okay now I see it….labor unions socialism marxist…..
Here’s what slays me, these idiots seem to think that revolt brings freedom….when in fact revolt in a democracy brings dictatorship and police states.

My true thought is that we are a nation without a cause. We have complete generations that have never had to strive to be better. Never had to struggle to overcome a hurdle or a stereotype. We have never had to die on our soil for our freedoms….in short we have a society that picks up its causes and discards them as frequently as they change their hair styles. Our youth have no identity, no purpose, and because of that they lack values and in short are NOT a value. They validate their lives via their clothing, their protests, their cause-du-jour. Once its solved or defeated they move on to something else in a struggle to define who and what they are. Our efforts to calm the poor and make them comfortable in their lives and our middle class parents who struggled so their kids would not, have created an entire class of aimless wandering sheep in search of themselves. Lerner, Ayers and Rathke are nothing more than leeches who pray on these stupid aimless sheep to further their own desire to be known.

We need to teach people to make something of THEMSELVES instead training them to PULL down those who have already have.

Blaze, already seen this awhile back on Trevor Loudons commentary; the fact is simple that the time now has come where the unions are moving out of the shadows to declare their “power and authority” and becoming political in the calls for change and revolution.

They have crossed the line between expression of ideals and free speech into the territory of open and active sedition and treason.

All we can hope for, is that someone will bypass comrade Obama and sign some arrest warrants for treason. The Manson trial set the modern day precedent for holding an instigator guilty of the ultimate act carried out by his/her followers.

If nobody acts this time, we’ll know our government has been taken over completely.

Maybe Glenn, Pat & Stu can charge them via a citizen’s arrest?
