Too many people and Politcians do not get that Islam is NOT a religion. It is a political ideology. There is no seperation of church and state with Islam. Their religion is their political law. All you have to keep repeating is this: Muslims subjugate, enslave and brutalize women. Anyone who does not get that or refuses to believe it or denies it is a total loser hopeless moron. Oron, you made the list.

This is not going to be good for Orrin Hatch. Although he defends their right to build, he surely must think that is very insensitive for the Ground Zero Mosque to be built. If he does not, Senator Hatch needs to move on.

If, God willing, we (I mean you and you and you . . . and I) are finally put in charge of ourselves and this nation by positioning ourselves individually, and truthfully, as people of faith, hope and love, then change can occur (as Glenn talked about on Saturday). Until then, it doesn’t matter who is in a position of elected officialdom. The big lobbyist guns will remain in charge of the country (along with the media who are lobbied just as hard as our elected officials). Lobbied to the point that they put a bounty on a person’s head to find ways to take away power. And lobbied to the point where they actually believe that lying about a person and forming a “Journolist” newsfeed group to misinform and promote a disinformation and propaganda pogrom is their idea when in truth, the corporate structure of greed and the power of the lobbyists own them.

Power corrupts. Power attracts the corruptible. The lobbyists play on that and get everything they want by prostituting themselves for whoever signs their paycheck. I am so pleased to see someone like Glenn who, to this point, is not asking for power for himself. He already has it through his faith. Like the words from Clapton’s song, “Everybody knows the secret, Everybody knows the score, I have finally found a place to live, In the presence of the Lord.” That is the God of your understanding whose other name is Love.

Jefferson said, “The very foundation of government, therefore, rests on the inalienable rights of the people and of each individual composing their mass”. But until those rights are understood to be from our Creator and not our government we are the sheep led to slaughter. For once I am starting to believe that the sheep are this country’s elected officials (hopefully they haven’t unpacked all their bags).
Wow! Quoting Clapton and Jefferson. See what God has wrought!! Thank you Glenn!!

Don’t forget that Orrin Hatch was a cosponsor of the “Dream Act” several years ago.

That was an law that, in part, was so that illegal immigrants would have access to our universities. Not only access, but they got in-state tuition prices.

In Texas, the state schools are over crowded as it is. To give an illegal, one of those spots, plus, have him/her pay LESS than someone from Oklahoma would do..was/is wrong.

Since then, nothing that Hatch says surprises me. He is on my list of Congresscritters who have worn out their welcome.

I think you must want to grant anchor babies whose parents are illegal, along with those who snuck across the border via help of their illegal parents, or otherwise as illegal young people themselves access to our colleges, universities and financial aid. Txsleuth is right about the Dream Act. These childrens’ parents should be held responsible for their illegal actions coming here as well as the other illegals wanting access to our colleges, universities and financial aid. It is too bad for the anchor babies but they do belong in the group of illegals who access to our country through a back door.

No I don’t hate the babies! Republicans want you to hate babies, here is a list of babies you should HATE according to conservatives.

      1. “anchor babies” they are stealing our tax dollars WHATEVER there are more corporations stealing the tax dollars by a long shot.

      2. “welfare babies” this are babies from poor people that just want more welfare, OMG let’s talk about the corporate welfare which far exceeds foodstamps.

      3. “terroris babies” This is my favorite BS from the republicans, we should hate the american muslim baby, because they are going to grow up and blow up a building in the USA.

You have to have a working brain to recognize one. I don’t think you qualify. There are Muslims in the US that just want to be part of America, then there are Muslims here who want to destroy America. It doesn’t take a genius to figure how which category this Imam and his mosque fall into.

The left has sided with Islam in their mutual goal to destroy America. Use your head … when has the left ever been for religious freedom? Why do they side with Islam on every issue? They’ve spent decades trying to drive Christianity into the shadows. Remember the Mojave desert cross? Yeah, they really supported that one.

      Wake up.

I can respect that people might disagree with his Hatch’s position and people who disagree with him can exercise their political right and vote him out. My one concern however is that I have read a few comments on here that suggest he is some how either “pandering” or taking a position that violates the Constitution.

Pandering? Possibly…I can’t say what is in his head. But for the sake of serious debate (on all sides of this issue) I wish people would not throw around the concept of the “Founding Documents” in such an abstract manner as a justification for why this cultural center/mosque should not be built. People may not like the cultural center being built which is fine (and have the undeniably protected right to protest its construction), but it is on private property, and any government action which would either favor or prevent the construction of the center unquestionably violates the First Amendment. That is an undeniable Constitutional fact. If people want to be really serious about this debate, and I have no doubt that that do, we can‘t forget that the Constitution doesn’t just apply when convenient (insert predictable attack on whichever administration you don’t like) but it applies at all times.

100% correct, also dening americans their constitution rights and freedoms in connection with 9-11 is another win for the terrorists. Actually a double win, americans are know being stripped of rights because of the terrorists, and since we are stripping muslim americans in this case what a perfect recruiting tool for the terrorists. I am really pissed at all involved in making such a stink about this muslim church gym whatever it is, thanks so much for painting americans as racists around the world. I wish Bush and Cheney would come out in support, maybe that would stop all their haters in the right from making this such an issue.

VivRobbins – the slasher was a white Liberal recently returned from a Liberal project I think in Pakistan, somewhere near there, one.. The cabbie was a muslim who was against the Cordoba House mosque at Ground Zero.

The cabbie has changed his story a few times, prolly afraid of openly opposing the mosque there in Manhattan with as large a contingent of militant muslims as are there…
But originally only said he told the passenger he was indeed a muslim, said he did not tell him he opposed the mosque.
The passenger white Liberal was involved with a university involved with muslim projects, and when he stabbed the cabbie, he yelled something in the native language of the nation he just returned from, an arab middle eastern language, at the cabbie.
But everyone says the passenger is a really really nice guy and very gentle.

A mosque is just a building in the same way a Catholic church is just a building, a Kingdom Hall is just a building, a Mormon church is just a building, a Jewish Synagogue is just a building, and a Druids Grove is just a… er stand of trees.

I do not object to a mosque, but I do object to government officials that are willing to bend over forwards to put in a mosque when they won’t do the same for any other religious building. I’ll bet the Baptists or Lutherans would love to build there too, but I‘ll bet the same diverse and tolerant people that will allow the mosque wouldn’t be so diverse and tolerant towards any Christian group.

I think if the muslim supporters really want to reach out to build bridges, how about funding the Greek Orthodox church that was leveled as part of the 9/11 tragedy? Have them, fund the project to have that church rebuilt, which would be a step in the right direction in offering the first bridge to understanding the loss that folks feel as part of 9/11.

I knew Orin was a RINO when he went to the lengths he did to keep Spectre(sic) on as Chairman of the Judiciary Committee, several years ago. Brotherhood of the DC politicians above the Honor to the Constitution and the Voters. He put his reputation on the line for Spectre the Rino, then, and Spectre immediately trashed him for his pains. Deservedly so – he knew Spectre better than we did, and WE knew about Spectre.

Same shame shame that a Senator doesn’t know the Constitution and Founding Documents better than to speak to such a situation from INSIDE the BOX drawn for him by Dim Marxist creeps.

The information about this imam has to be at the Senator’s fingertips that is necessary to rip the cover off this pretense that it has anything to do with “religious freedoms”.

Hatch is MAJOR RINO and we woke up here in Utah about 2 years ago to who our two senators REALLY were and what they were about. We’re all salivating to to flush this T**D down the ballot box in 2 years (and oh it’s coming), just like we did Bennett for all the RINO crud he’s been pulling (I became a member of the Republican Caucauses here just to do this good deed and to rid us of Bennett). After we took Bennett down, Hatch, like McCain, has suddenly gotten the “conservative religion” and we thought he might quit making CDs with Muslims (singing muslim hits??!?!) but here he is again. Hmmm… Though I understand (we’re mostly LDS/Mormon here so we’re a tad sensitive to religious freedom issues) his religious freedom argument he’s otherwise showing his true colors again. Well, his senatorial days are numbered and we’re all waiting to vote him out in 2012 for stuff like this and his original horrific unforgivable sin of signing TARP despite Utahns asking/begging/pleading with him 700+ to 1 NOT TO SIGN IT (that 700 to 1 is reported from one of his staffers). And these two senators seem to be tending to REFUSE now to show their faces here in Utah or they’ll definitely get the Ben Nelson Pizza Treatment here too

haha i think its funny that you refer to yourself as a libertarian socialist! because to me that sounds like a contradiction! libertarians believe strongly in freedom in every aspect of life and little to no government involvement, where as socialists are all about government control! however about your comment about the Muslims being nicer than Christians doesnt matter for many reasons, first off because there are nice people in all religions and ******** in all religions! you cant base a religion off the people you know! second is because we are not arguing about whether muslims are nice people or not! its if we can trust them. think about if during world war 2 a bunch of nazi’s where in america and were saying for us not to be scared of them and to trust them, what do you honestly think people would do? whether the nazi’s where nice or not people wouldnt trust them! its the same way now! I have a hard enough time trusting religion anyways so for one to say that its ok to do things to people that are wrong just because they dont believe the same is just too much for me! also i might want to add that people in general will follow their religious leaders even if it doesnt make any sense at all! many muslims may say that they wont hurt us and that they can be trusted but at the end of the day if their leaders tell them to do somthing with a “promise from god!” they will blindly follow just like any Christian
