WASHINGTON (AP) — First-term Republican Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida says he won’t be on the Republican presidential ticket in 2012 under any circumstances.
Rubio, a favorite of the ultraconservative tea party movement, dismisses talk that he could be persuaded to be a running mate for the Republican nominee or even the party’s nominee at the top of the ticket.
Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy
Rubio tells NBC television’s “Meet the Press” that he thinks as a senator, he can have an impact on government spending and other issues important to Floridians.
Rubio’s name surfaces as a potential running mate in part because he might attract Latino voters to the Republican ticket. But Rubio says he doesn’t want to be vice president.
Rubio, the son of Cuban exiles, was elected to the Senate last fall. He turns 40 this month.

Posted on May 1, 2011 at 4:42pmFinally we see someone who knows what he wants to do! Back in the 40s did Winston Churchill tell the world “Ahhhhh, I’m going to form an exploratory committee” blah blah. Nonsense! I’m waiting for someone to say “My name is John Doe and I’m running for President”. At least the field is narrowed with Rubio’s official “count me out” statement.

Posted on May 1, 2011 at 4:34pmFacet- If obama gad a Senatorial record he would never had a chance to run for the Presidency!
Rubio is different though… He is no huckster and he will reflect America at large. Meet the press just went at him with everything they had and was soundly beaten… They tried to set him up with questions that could be demonized no matter how he answered them. Msnbs has few clips to edit for their agenda, but true to fashion msnbs will SHOW Rubio on a split screen and TELL you an adapted version of what he said. Advantage: RUBIO

Posted on May 1, 2011 at 3:58pmHis parents are Cuban exiles, are they U.S. citizens now? Were they U.S. Citizens when Rubio was born? You have to be “natural born” citizen, of two U.S. Citizen PARENTS in order to be President of the United States of America. Then you will be like Wong Kim Ark, 1898, just a U.S. CITIZEN, and that is NOT the eligibility requirement for President. This is why Obama must NOT be allowed to finish his term of office, he is NOT eligible, he does NOT meet the “natural born” status. His father was NOT a U.S. Citizen, never was, never became one. Nothing more, nothing less.

Posted on May 1, 2011 at 3:49pmWhy is it that he thinks that? I mean, Obama was barely a senator when he ran and won (cuz Americans are stupid). What is Rubio afraid of? Maybe the ones that most of us would like to see run in 2012, really aren’t as good as we think they are. IF they aren’t ready NOW…….they never will be! THIS is the moment in history when they (West, Cain, Rubio, Christy, etc) should be ready to get Obama OUT and put this country back on track!!

Posted on May 1, 2011 at 3:37pmAccording to the ‘Birthers’ new (and incorrect) argument, Rubio would not be qualified to run for President anyway because his parents are foreign born.

Posted on May 1, 2011 at 9:53pm@ Entropy, I don‘t know if you’re a redneck, skinhead, or just plain stupid. Anyone who uses defamatory remarks about others, as you do, only illustrates the lack of intellect resulting from the school system that you denigrate. As of anyone accusing Rubio of being a “rino”, obviously they don’t know Rubio. The man has been to the “right” of the mainstream Republicans for the better part of the last decade, but finding that out would require to research or worst yet learn how to read. Imagine the horror!
Report Post »In addition Entropy, I’d like to point out that a hispanic surname does not indicate what race an individual is. Plenty of hispanics are direct descendants of northern Europeans, their skin is as “milky” as any “white” person. So are Persians by the way. Spaniards, French, Greeks, Portuguese, the list goes on, are all “latino”. A slang that has been applied by the PC correct media trying to amalgamate all hispanics under one race. “Latinos” are no more a race than “gringos” are to the southern neighbors (Central and South America).
I recommend then that you and your ilk try reading a history book every now and then and lay off the keyboard long enough to learn something.
