Senate Blocks Reid’s Debt Bill as White House, Congressional Talks Go On

WASHINGTON (AP) — Senate Republicans have blocked action on a Democratic approach to resolving the debt-ceiling crisis. It was a test vote largely unrelated to the talks between the White House and congressional leaders on a compromise that can clear both the House and Senate.
The Senate voted 50-49 to clear a procedural hurdle toward consideration of a bill put forth by Majority Leader Harry Reid. But 60 votes were needed to advance the measure.
The outcome of the vote on Sunday did not affect the effort to come up with a compromise that would avert a first-ever default in which the government would be unable to meet all its debt obligations.

Posted on July 31, 2011 at 2:49pmThere is no telling what Obama kind of deal Obama may make, as his decision-making capabilities and rationality as Commander-in-Chief has come into question. Obama provided his own biggest campaign hurdle (and perhaps grounds for impeachment on diminished mental capacity) when in multiple rants he told his own military who are putting their lives on the line in battlefields around the world (not by their own choice) that he would withhold their paychecks. The military payroll is $2.9 Billion per month. The government takes in $200 Billion per month do the math. The Department of Education gets/spends $20 Billion per month alone… is there a rational person in this country that doesn’t believe that perhaps we should pay the military before the DOE?
Wonder why independents are running from Obama in droves? You don’t have to like what the military is doing, but that isn’t their choice… and withholding THEIR paychecks is an insane act. Virtually the same argument can be made for veterans, many of whom have been wounded while putting their lives on the line. The veterans retirement/benefits is also only $2.9 Billion per month. Less than $6 Billion total for the military... and its Commander-in-Chief would rather withhold their paychecks... probably so as not to disrupt welfare, food stamps, public housing and education monies for illegals.

I still find it astounding that as time goes by, the average American is more easily duped than ever before.

Sorry….. they were not voting on the Debt Ceiling Bill. Go here and see what they were really voting on at 1pm, today, July 31, 2011. It was S. 627 (Faster FOIA Act of 2011 ). That’s what the Senate website says. What am I doing wrong? I don’t understand this? And Reed voted nay! That‘s why I went to the website because I couldn’t believe my ears.

Posted on July 31, 2011 at 2:10pmThose who continue to believe that “One Man” caused the problem or that “One Person” can solve it scare the hell out of me. Blaming President Obama is as big of a cop out as blaming President Bush: it’s BIGGER than that. I‘m glad they’re demanding more, but let’s not lose our focus. The problem stems from a gradual…dare I say PROGRESSIVE…corruption of our entire form of Government. It will take more than just shifting from one person or one Party to another to fix it.

Posted on July 31, 2011 at 1:54pmIf these talks “fail” we do not go into default. The debt ceiling is not raised. the only way the country goes into default is if the potus chooses to order the debt payments to not be paid, and instead pays for his pet projects. The law requires the debt payments be made. The same with Social Security, only if obama orders nonpayment will seniors not be paid.
I certainly hope the potus defaults…… these are clear cut impeachable offenses.
