Senate Candidate Jumps the Gun, Releases Four Different Responses to Obamacare Decision Before It Comes Out

Indiana Republican Treasurer Richard Mourdock stunned the GOP establishment in May when he defeated ancient incumbent Richard Lugar for the chance to become the GOP nominee for US Senator, in a reminder that the Tea Party is still very much alive and still a force to be reckoned with. Now, however, Mourdock has gotten trapped in an amateurish blunder that leaves some wondering whether he‘ll go the way of past Tea Party candidates Sharon Angle and Christine O’Donnell.
As most of our readers know, the Supreme Court’s decision as to whether Obamacare is constitutional comes out this Thursday. Mourdock wasn’t quite ready to be that patient, as he recently released four videos on his Youtube channel dealing with the case. The problem is that these videos aren’t predictions. They’re literally reactions to the decision – reactions that were filmed before the decision was even known – and the reason there are four of them is because he filmed four different reactions to four different possible decisions. Watch them compiled into one video below:
For more background, The Daily Mail reports:
Mr Mourdock, who is now the state’s treasurer but is hoping for a serious promotion come election day, recorded videos for if the court overturns, upholds, splits the decision, or reaches no decision on the contentious healthcare issue.
All of the videos were clearly shot on the same day as he is wearing the same striped tie and patriotic flag pin while sitting in front of a non-descript brick wall.
The videos were posted to YouTube using his ‘MourdockforSenate’ username, but his team has since taken them down in hopes of lessening the inevitable political fallout.[...]
‘Like the vast majority of Hoosiers, Richard hopes the Supreme Court strikes down ObamaCare, which our opponent Joe Donnelly dutifully supported,’ a campaign spokesman said in a statement.
‘But as the Boy Scouts say, “be prepared.”’
And no, before you ask, it’s not just liberals who are criticizing Mourdock. Again, from the Daily Mail:
Some of the criticism is even coming from Mr Mourdock’s fellow Republicans, including a tea party activist who the IndyStar reports sent an email calling the release of the videos a ‘colossal blinder.’
Now, to be fair to Mourdock, it’s not as though he meant for these videos to be given wide release. They were simply uploaded to his Youtube channel and unfriendly media sources happened to notice before he ever tried to promote them. Nevertheless, the videos should have at least been hidden from public viewing until such a time as Mourdock was ready to promote them – a very easy option to select on Youtube.
To make matters worse, the story has found its way onto the airwaves of the Colbert Report:
Say what you like about Colbert’s leanings. He knows how to skewer incompetence, even if he does it selectively. This is a major pie in the face for Mourdock. Fortunately, it’s also a long time before the election, so he has time to recover.

Posted on June 27, 2012 at 7:44amI am a Christian Constitutional Conservative, I tend to vote Republican (sometimes 3rd party), I serve on a town council in Northeast Indiana, and I support Richard Mourdock. As I will be voting for him or one of his opponents come November I see no problem with this. There are so many reasons to do this beforehand, someone made a simple mistake. This will not be an issue in a week and should not be one now. The only reason it is an issue is because Mourdock defeated a long-time Liberal Republican in the Primaries, “Obama’s favorite Republican” and the Liberal/Communist/Socialist types do not like when one of their Progressive buds from he Republican party is ousted.

Report Post »What makes him any of those things? (”This man is a traitor and a closet communist! We don’t need Rhinos in our Conservative Party!”) What “proof” or conspiracy theory do you have that he is any of these things? Or were you talking about Richard Lugar? In which case, I would agree.
Yes, a mistake, as it should not have been posted where others could view it until the decision was made in the court.
Of course, it might not be a mistake but a strategy to get him some free press and perhaps a chance to get a few national interviews on the MSM.

Posted on June 27, 2012 at 11:11amSENIOR CITIZENS NOW AWAIT THE RULES AND PROCEDURES OF THE OBAMACARE DEATH PANELS
Death Panels will now decide who gets medical treatment and who gets overdoses of pain pills.
Limbaugh was correct when over a year ago he predicted that the Obamacare was a done deal and that Pelosi had negotiated with US Supreme Court Judges while the Obamacare Law was being written. Pelosi knew the law would be challenged and she wanted to make sure the Supreme Court would pre-approve it before it became law. Pelosi and Democrats did not want this Law to be upheld by just a small 5-4 decision so they were able to make a deal with Roberts that it he crossed over to their side, he could write the decision and even call it the Roberts decision.
This upholding of Obama care will be a legal ending of the US Constitution, a revoking of our Law of the Land without any kind of convention. The US Constitution does not specify the wording or how it can be dissolved. We have all seen how the EPA has become a Government within a Government on its own and independent of Congress, Obamacare will create the worlds most powerful and dangerous dictatorship ever to rule on Earth. Obamacare combined with the EPA law will give Obama the power of an Emperor who has nuclear weapons.

Posted on June 26, 2012 at 8:33pmThe sensible thing to do is keep the videos on your hard drive until it’s time to choose one. It takes five minutes to upload one to YouTube.
Of course, those people always have someone hired to do those things. I doubt Mourdock even knew they had been uploaded.

Posted on June 26, 2012 at 9:38pmYeah, they all do it…..but you know what it lacks? Heart! I believe this is a major problem with most of our politicians. Some of them have heart, and you know they are saying what they mean when they stand on the floor and lets words spill out of their mouths without looking down at their written speech. Rand Paul made a good example of this today…… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CsCEOIfsSFI&feature=youtu.be
Most of the time watching cspan most of the people are just sitting around not paying attention to whats going on, and when its their turn to speak, they just read the script they have in front of them.

I was thinking this morning about tomorrow’s decision on hlth care and saw your post and agree with you 100%. Remember when it was Christmas Eve and the votes were in and America got a “gift” from this admin.(the 11th hour)? Whether the SCOTUS agrees with this admin. or there will be a “re-gift” back to this admin. there is one “outstanding” thought I have with most politicians and now, SCOTUS. “These people” have been appointed/elected by the citizens of the United States and are “stewards” of taxpayer monies etc. and “here-we-go-again“ the American people ”have-to” wait for Thursday (might as well be Christmas Eve or Friday afternoon) and whatever the decision that will have positive or negative results for Americans,… decision is told and “beat-it-out-of-town”.!!!
