N.Y. Senator: Celebrate Mother’s Day by…Donating to a Pro-Choice Group

In what many on the right are interpreting as contradictory and self-defeating, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand of New York reportedly sent out an email to her followers yesterday urging them to donate to EMILY’s List– a pro-choice political action group– for Mother’s Day.

Life News has the relevant passages:

“This Mother’s Day, I can’t think of a better way to honor all the mothers in the country — past and present — than with a contribution to EMILY’s List…They’re the ones working tirelessly to elect the pro-choice Democratic women who are making sure that our freedoms are protected for generations to come.

“So, this year, join me in commemorating Mother’s Day with a contribution to EMILY’s List to help elect the Democratic women who will continue to secure our rights…On Mother’s Day, let’s get women involved and make sure they know who is truly fighting for them – the pro-choice Democratic women EMILY’s List is working each day to elect to office. Make this Mother’s Day extra special. Honor mothers around the country with a contribution to EMILY’s List” [Emphasis added].

The Corner’s Kathryn Jean Lopez from National Review Online also received the email, writing: “[Senator Kirsten Gillibrand just sent me an e-mail soliciting a donation for EMILY’s List for Mother’s Day..."

"As someone grateful I got the chance to live, donating to a political action committee dedicated to electing supporters of legal abortion to public office definitely seems off-message for the day," she continued.

Similarly, Doug Powers wrote on Michelle Malkin’s site: “What’s next, Senator? A pitch for donations to the King George III Foundation on the 4th of July?”

The Washington Examiner said Gillibrand opened the email by speaking of– of all things– her two children.

“I’ve said it before: as the mother of two young boys, finding the right balance between work and family isn’t easy…But we do it, we figure it out, because it’s our children — our nation’s future — that we’re all fighting for every single day.”

So you’re fighting for the children, by fighting for the right to abort them, critics ask?

While many have resigned themselves to the “pro-women” argument often asserted by pro-choice activists, is the “pro-motherhood” declaration a bit of stretch?  A little too contradictory to be feasible, or will it prove to be effective?

      Yes…..and they are so “closed” and irrational – tend to never think things through — too dangerous — it might make sense and make them change their determined mindset to rebel against God.       If you attend movies, buy videos, magazines or any other thing produced in Hollywood or the entertainment industry, you should give some very serious thought to the fact that the people in Hollywood and the rest of the entertainment industry support with millions and millions of dollars, the cause of the communist socialist politicians and their movement to destroy our nation.
      If you attend any professional sports functions such as boxing, baseball, football, basketball or watch TV channels that air these sports events you are in need again of giving very serious thought to the fact that many, many of the players and coaches give millions to the communist socialist politicians who are ever closer to destroying our nation.
      Political correctness is thought control by way of fear of retribution in the schools, work place, in public institutions, and many other places where their used to be what was known as freedom of speech. Evil is good and good is evil, this is the idea behind political correctness it is subversive and evil of itself.
      Speak your mind, but more importantly BOYCOTT Hollywood movies or other products and BOYCOTT professional sports events in protest to the leftist socialist-communist movement in this country, take the money you would spend, and spend it on supporting ways to save our constitution, our government, freedom and our way of life.

      I’m against abortion, but I’m 100% against the late term abortion Obama voted for while in the Chicago
      senate. There was a big story about a late term aborted baby that didn’t die immediately, so they put it in the closet to expire until a nurse found it and cradled it until it died.

      When I think about Obama, this is the first thing that comes to my mind and has for 4 years since the news first came out. This is sick, inhumane, and takes monsters to agree to this heinous crime.

      Can I ask you that if your mother had chosen to abort you would you be okay with that? Just imagine that if your mother had made that choice then you would not be here today.

      It is a little hard following your logic but it sounds like if carrying a child to full term and determining that it might be a burden then the best choice is to just get rid of it so that the woman can continue her life without a child being in the way and disrupting their day to day life.

      There was a story today on Liberty Tree House about a woman that adopted a child from Russia. It turned out to have Autism. It took great effort on her part but she was determined to see that her child succeeded. Guess what. He graduated and is attending college.

      She chose to go against her doctors advice and carry the child through birth. Her sons name is Tim Tebow.

      I can only look at this whole issue from the view of a father. Prior to my wife telling me that she was pregnant, I was a fallen away Catholic. I returned to the church after a disturbing conversation with my best friend. He told my wife and I that now that abortion was available, we didn’t have to keep it. My wife told him he was still welcome in our house but he needed to leave immediately.

      I was immediately hit with the thought that my wife didn’t have a benign cyst ready to cut out. She was carrying life. Three kids and 4 grandkids later, I am still amazed with the creation of life. Both my wife and I have lost our parents. It is our turn in the bucket. I don’t want to be remembered as anything but a good man.

      How a person can make the decision to kill a child because they are inconvenient is beyond me I guess they view the child as a cyst.

    Mother’s day would be best celebrated by actual mothers, you know, those who chose to keep their children.

They will continue throughout their lifetimes, and their spouses, reaping the government benefits granted to them by them , and to be paid for by us. See how it works?     What better way to celebrate Mother’s Day, then to honor those who decide they don’t have the time to be a monther and so they kill their babies instead. The world truely is up-side-down. Anybody hoping for Divine Providence in the next election might wonder if we deserve it.

      I like how they always say “no one is pro-abortion” . This is not true. Obama and many more are about as pro-abortion as you can be. Maybe Pelosi will come out and state her Catholic faith gives her the strength to fully support abortion…

      If you debate certain pro-choicers, they’ll attack you for any perceived insult against abortion. They’ll dismiss the fetus as a “lump of cells”. They’ve even been known to compare the unborn child to–of all things–a malignant tumor. You don’t have to suggest abortion be illegal or immoral: ANY perceived slight puts them in attack mode.

      If they’re pro-choice and not pro-abortion, they’d be outraged by the forced abortions in China (forcing an abortion when the mother wants the child sounds pretty anti-choice to me). Instead, they defend their hypocrisy: “Well, it’s in China, not here! We can’t do anything about it!”

      But when it comes to pushing the legalization of abortion in other countries, this “Can’t Do” attitude is mysteriously gone…
