Senator Inhofe: Global Warming Is a Hoax, Arrogant to Think Humans Can Change Seasons

Senator Inhofe: Global Warming is a Hoax, Arrogant to think Humans Can Change SeasonsSenator James Inhofe (R-OK) recently appeared on the radio program “Voice of Christian Youth America,” to discuss his new book, The Greatest Hoax: How the Global Warming Conspiracy Threatens Your Future

Speaking with interviewer Vic Eliason, Inhofe maintained that only God can change the climate, and for us to believe that our actions can alter the seasons is pure “arrogance.” He said:

“…The Genesis 8:22 [verse] that I use in there is that ‘as long as the earth remains there will be springtime and harvest, cold and heat, winter and summer, day and night.’

My point is, God’s still up there. The arrogance of people to think that we, human beings, would be able to change what He is doing in the climate is to me outrageous.”

Inhofe went on to criticize Richard Cizik, the former Vice President of the National Association of Evangelicals, saying:

“…the smartest thing the activists did in trying to put their program through is try to get the evangelicals on their side, so they hired a guy named Cizik, and he had his picture in front of Vanity magazine dressed like Jesus walking on water. He has been exposed since then to be the liberal that he is….The other Scripture that I use quite frequently on this subject is Romans 1:25, ‘They give up the truth about God for a lie and they worship God’s creation instead of God, who will be praised forever.’

In other words, they are trying to say we should worship the creation [instead of the Creator]. We were reminded back in Romans that this was going to happen and sure enough it’s happening.”

Inhofe’s statements on the Bible and global warming are predictably upsetting many on the left.  Steve Bennen wrote on Rachel Maddow’s The Maddow Blog:

“Obviously, the senator’s spiritual beliefs are his business, but even a literal interpretation of the book of Genesis does not refute climate science. No one is arguing that temperature variation and seasons will simply disappear as a consequence of global warming…There’s nothing in Scripture that tells us the evidence is wrong.

Incidentally, if Republicans claim the Senate majority in the 2012 elections, Inhofe will be the chairman of the Senate committee on the environment. That he believes the Bible debunks all of climate science is not exactly encouraging.”

Watch Senator Inhofe tell Barbara Boxer that global warming is “over, it’s gone, done, we won, you lost, get a life,” below:

We are indeed living in the time when men will worship the creation rather than the creator. God has always turned the false objects that the people worship against them. The Egyptians worshipped the Nile river. It was turned to blood, and out of it came the plaque of frogs and then the flies. In Revelation chapter 16, we see the godless earth worshippers cursing God.
Revelation 16:8,9. And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun; and power was given unto him to scorch men with fire.
    9. And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, which hath power over these plagues: and they repented not to give him glory.

Pastor Inhofe quoted Romans 1:25 as, ‘They give up the truth about God for a lie and they worship God’s creation instead of God, who will be praised forever.’
Maybe if that were true, he’d have a point!
I don‘t know what bible he’s using, but mine talks about worshiping and serving the “creature” not creation. Now that is wrong. Senator if your going to reference the bible, do it truthfully, which is:
For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.. (NASB)

Of course it is a Hoax! Gore is sitting back and laughing at the higher rung of the over educated.
    1) the poles are shifting- which is changing the wind parttern
    2) we are seeing some increased volcanic activity -just 1 valcano puts out more CO2 than all the cars in America in 20 years
    3) The major quake that Japan saw actually shifted our tilt by 3 degrees. (changes weather pattern)
    4) Sun spot activity and solar discharges also have been hitting the earth have increased
    5) Does anyone state that Europe suffered a Mini-Ice age. combined with the fall of Rome it cause the dark ages.
Wake up people and smell the coffee. The hoax is sapping your brains.

“we are seeing some increased volcanic activity -just 1 valcano puts out more CO2 than all the cars in America in 20 years”

No. False. Volcanoes produce less than 1% of human activity. (http://hvo.wr.usgs.gov/volcanowatch/2007/07_02_15.html) If this was true, you’d see giant spikes in the CO2 levels in our atmosphere every time a big volcano pops off. We don’t.

Volcanoes actually help cool the Earth, from the particulate matter they throw up into the atmosphere. So does pollution from cities, for that matter.

Your other “facts” also sound like things you read from a chain email. The Earth’s tilt did NOT increase by 3 degrees from the Earthquake. It increased by about 7 inches (http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2011/03/110316-japan-earthquake-shortened-days-earth-axis-spin-nasa-science/).

Likewise, natural causes are only about 30% of the net global warming effect. Anthropogenic causes (mainly CO2 and NH4 emissions) make up the other 70%.

Sure, some of these points are a little off. But if what you, Foobear, say is true – that man has more than double the effect on the climate than the sun – we would expect global temperatures to constantly rise. However, this has not happened in over a decade. While the local temps here in the US have been a little up this winter, the global averages are not up. The 70% -man-controlled model fails, and, in fact, the CO2-controlled model fails.

Remember that fancy chart Al Gore used to scare everyone? He said that global temps follow CO2 levels – but that was false. It was the other way around: CO2 levels follow global temperatures. CO2 has never driven global temperatures in the past – why would it now? If you use CO2 levels as a source, the correlation to global temperatures is kind of there, but remarkably weak. However, if you use solar activity (i.e. solar wind intensity) as a source, the correlation is practically perfect.

The fact of the matter is that CO2 is given way way way more credit that it deserves in warming/cooling/change. It is an exceptionally small portion of the atmosphere, yet it is given a thermodynamic power greater than it actually has. Water – with a vibrational photon cross section much, much, much greater than the inert, linear CO2 – is THE greenhouse gas, but it has a cooling effect when in solid form. How are the solid crystals made in the sky? The sun and cosmic rays.

As an aside, I am often amused when I hear people say that global warming means the death of us all, and that we need to cool the earth. WORST IDEA EVER.

Global Warming, historically, does not cause global extinction events. Very local events, sure, but on the whole warming increases the viability of the biosphere, increases speiciation, increases reproduction, and increases agriculture production. In other words, warming leads to great times.

Global Cooling, historically, is death. Biodiversity plummets, millions of species vanish, agriculture is reduced, reproduction goes down.

Global Neutrality, which is what it seems every AGW-believer longs for, causes exactly what you would expect – global stagnation. A stagnant, static planet is just like a person holding their breath. And, frankly, it is impossible – in a vibrant universe, galaxy, and solar system, it is impossible for the earth to become neutral climate-wise, and if it did, we really WOULD all die.

      @FOOBEAR

If anthropogenic CO2 is indeed responsible for climate change, then explain to me where all the CO2 came from during the Cretaceous. The ONLY accurate fact about climate change is that the climate (and the amount of atmospheric CO2) has changed many many times throughout Earth’s history. Even in the day of computers we do not have the modeling capability to accurately model the Earth’s climate. There are way to many variables.

Also, the amount of H2O that was emit is much higher than the amount of CO2. Many believe that H2O vapor actually acts as a negative feedback which produces a net cooling…

The amount of atmospheric CO2 is very very small, it is a trace gas, only 0.039% of total atmosphere which is about 17,000,000,000,000 km^3. There is a word for numbers this small, negligible.

I am not even saying that CO2 isn’t a greenhouse gas. because it is…there is just no way that we can significantly contribute to this.

Sen Inhofe is right. Our Universe is huge; we’re closer in size to ants than we are to the whole, big Universe. Can you imagine an ant telling another ant that they have to start doing things differently to stop global warming? That’s how laughable and yes, arrogant, the global warming folks are. They’re also hypocrites: If global warming were the huge issue he says it is, wouldn’t Al Gore shrink his carbon footprint. The climate of the Earth has changed with and without human input; therefore global warming is in effect because of humans destroying the environment. Man made global warming is a hoax designed to make a few people very wealthy while simultaneously making the rest of us poorer. It‘s the radical environmentalists theory that man is destroying the planet and it’s BS,that‘s why the ’scientists’ had to cook the books on their data to fit their agenda, the emails can attest to the fraud.

Prior to the claim of global warming and Al Gore‘s carbon credit program scientist discovered that the Earth’s climate has changed many times since its creation billions of years ago.
Modern **** Sapiens appeared on Earth about 100,00 years ago. 20,000 years ago the Earth was in the height of the last glacial period. Can you image the global warming conversations mankind engaged in about 10,000 years ago. I’ll bet those liberal cavemen and women were really p!ssed.
BTW scientist have recognized that there have been 7 Glacial periods. If there have been 7 glacial periods as scientist indicate mankind has had to listen to this liberal hype 6 times before now. That is of course if they weren’t engaged in staying alive at all costs.
Millions of acres of burning peat bogs then and industrialization now. I pick now.

      CHAMEL,

Indeed, hope in humanity is probably a lost cause. We are fallen creatures. But hope in God; Christ, to be specific, is the direction humanity is to take. God created the universe and the earth, of course; and He did it perfectly. Sin entered the world and we are where we are because of who we are. Sinners. Some are saved, many are not–but can be once a person trusts Jesus Christ and what Christ did for humanity.

if our planet is so fragile, then how does life thrive in such a fragile place? it does because the earth is designed for life from a creator who knows our needs.
they say if we lose the polar bear then goes man not far behind but in the beginning of evolution (theory that is) there was only a single cell organism not all of the variety of life we have now, so i think we can afford to lose a couple of species especially when new ones are still being discovered.

“The climate of the Earth has changed with and without human input; therefore global warming is in effect because of humans destroying the environment.”

This is the “meat” of your argument. And it makes no sense whatsoever. You have been lied to and you should be outraged about it.

More comes out every day that proves that globle warming something that the liberals have made up to grab more control over veryone. You might be best served if you would grow up. Isn’t that a contradiction? By saying climate has changed with and without human input? That would actually help disprove global warming. Regardless, I am going to go burn some styrofoam, and watch the sun rise again tomorrow.

CHCs from hairspray cans and the like were able to tear a continent-sized hole in the ozone layer, and that’s factually recognized. I think you underestimate the power of 7 billion beings.

VOX_POPULI, Actually, there are two holes in the ozone layer. One above pole. Wonder how that happened? Think it could be from the swirling effect of the earth’s rotation. Back in sixties the CIA and probably with the assistance of the NSA attempted to make a hole in the ozone layer over part of China where known supply routes to North Vietnam were being used. They couldn’t get it work on purpose, but we are accidentally doing it? I’ll call your Chicken Little bluff.

The hole in the Ozone Layer was manmade. During the cold war with Russia, we (USA) put a large microwave dish there, pointed it straight up and burnt the atmosphere in order to create a reflective area for bouncing satellite data the monitor Russia. When the cold war ended, and as technology advanced, the dish was removed and the hole went away. I heard this from a friend that was involved in the project. We damaged it and it healed itself.

No, that’s literally objectively false. There was a “hole” in the layer of O3 (ozone in conventional terms) in the atmosphere, and it was linked to chlorofluorocarbons and hydrochlorofluorocarbons, which are released by the old aerosols. A law was passed banning their use in manufacture, and, lo and behold, years later the hole has receded and I believe, in fact, completely vanished, as expected given the reduction of the rate of increase of aerosols in the atmosphere, CLEARLY anthropogenic (not TOO MANY orangutans making and using aerosol based hairsprays). There’s really no other way to politely put it–you are objectively wrong.

      @Cape_Lookout_RW_Extremist
The emission of compounds that are “ozone (O3) aggressors” is a different and completely separate issue from the emission of compounds which exhibit a change in the rates of input-output of thermal energy of the Earth (i.e. so-called greenhouse gases such as CO2, water vapor, and methane, the increase of the average percentage of which, has a direct inverse correlation to the rate of thermal energies dissipation, which is to say as the former’s presence increases, the latter’s value decreases–in other words, the higher the percentage of these gases as a share of the atmosphere, the slower thermal energy dissipates).
