‘Seriously?’ Maddow Praises Fox News While Bashing Hannity, Beck

Rachel Maddow must have missed Glenn Beck’s response (see here) to accusations he’s spreading wild conspiracy theories, because on Thursday night she tried, once again, to paint Beck as a madman for showing the similarities between the extreme left and extreme Islam. Instead of actually taking the time trace Beck’s argument, she instead went with a straw-man argument, and also threw in a creepy flashlight while taking potshots at Sean Hannity:

More on the straw-man fallacy:

“Straw man” is one of the best-named fallacies, because it is memorable and vividly illustrates the nature of the fallacy. Imagine a fight in which one of the combatants sets up a man of straw, attacks it, then proclaims victory. All the while, the real opponent stands by untouched.

If the show fits…

My husband thought I needed to “listen to the other side”. So, I DVR’d Glenn (which I always do anyway), then turned the channel to Chrissy Matthews and ended up yelling at the TV. He had 2 “experts” on and everyone was taking their turn bashing Glenn on this Caliphate thing. Glenn was taken out of context and they never tried to attack the substance of Glenn’s message only saying Glenn was a nut-case. Never explained what a Caliphate was, (my husband asked me) only how stupid Glenn was for even mentioning it. Even my husband was appalled… now he will never mention the “other” side again!!!

And THAT is the problem with the other side. No facts brought to the debate table. They only thing they can bring are insults and fourth grade playground policies. Those are the very reasons Beck is so popular. He brings facts and demands people do their own homework. In a way, Glenn is forcing the discussion in America and I love him for it. Maybe Glenn is purposely going as far as he can to force the discussion to occur? If he is, it’s absolutely brilliant. Either way, the difference is facts verses insults. And we all know which will always win.

no they arent muslim brother hood – they are being duped by organizations that are funded and created by muslim brotherhood .

I love how shes trying so hard to make it sound like beck is saying – obama is muslim brotherhood

Thing is much of the democrats base is so ignorant of the english language that they cant follow the actual words and just take madows word for it.

If you look at what the left is trying to do is they are trying to rally up the ignorant and poor who dont know any better and use them as a weapon.

the actual educated people see the lack of a solid foundation for an argument. maddow did not do any reporting on who muslim brotherhood actually is or what they actually fund, heck no she knows she cant do that because she knows they are tied up in it.

so she knows she can distract the ignorant persons mind by trying to smear and give the ignorant simple slogans – beck thinks obama is muslim brotherhood – while beck said no such thing.

bad news is there are many ignorant people running around in the world.

I really wish the Blaze and site like it would quit giving madcow and tingles exposure on their websites. Seriously! Beck and Hannity have, what, 5 TIMES the viewers of these losers. This is truly a left wing characteristic, attack the person because you can’t attack the facts. Sometimes it appears so inbred that they seem to attack the person even when they could attack the facts (but most times they simply have no facts).

Some real substantive investigative journalism would be very refreshing for a change. I’ve only watched msnbc, and cnn a few times in the past year, and that was for just a few minutes each time because they don’t really inform me of anything worthwhile. Sometimes I can just barely tollerate Hannity and O’rielly, when they are arguing back and forth with guests and nobody is listening. Beck has a research staff and does research himself. He basically reports and warns us about what he learns. . . . No arguing, no confrontations. He says ‘don’t take my word for it, research it yourself.‘ What’s so bad about that? Unfortunately, we have a bunch of dunderheads yapping at us all day long for the most part. It’s no wonder that, for some, their ratings are so low.

Just read this on Breitbart: “FCC Orders NBC Newsrooms To Partner With Soros-Funded Non Profit, by D. Loesch. Under the terms of the FCC order approving Comcast’s takeover of NBCU, at least half of NBC’s 10 O&Os have to find a nonprofit news center with which to work within the next year. The order cites the KNSD-VoiceOfSanDiego.org alliance as the model for what it would like to see in other NBC markets.
Proponents of the growing nonprofit news movement are hoping that NBC’s FCC-mandated efforts will bear fruit and encourage other commercial TV stations to seek out nonprofit partners.
There’s just one problem with this: Voice of San Diego is a member of INN (Investigative News Network) which is funded by the Open Society Institute, the URL of which is “www.soros.org.” Yes, these “non-profit” journalism centers are funded by George Soros.”

    Disturbing but not surprising!

Since I seem to be the first to start today with those remarks, I must admit you’re right in that we must rise above name calling but sometimes, especially with people like these you need to vent and release stress. This is something even Glenn does sometimes. Remember the “spooky dude” thing with George Soros? During the Tucson tragedy the left took high ground and immediately the drive by media started a gruesome attack on us with devastating results. I put it to you that silence is not an option. Maybe we should all tone it down a bit and be more civil right. Hell NO!

Since the weather underground days we have been giving ground to these criminals and we take the position that because some of them are elected official now they are respectable. They are not and they will kill you if they could. Yet, I reluctantly agree, that we should stick to the facts and the truth since they are even more damming. Name calling is low class although sometimes a lot more fun less lethal than gun. So forgive us all for being human.

Intelligence is being able to think for yourself to take in information and find the truth. So basicly a college education is being able to regurgitate what some liberal professor ideology. I can not speak for Hannity as I hardly ever catch his program ,but after watching Glenn’s show yesterday , I spent most of yesterday researching what he said . I’m a history major , and love to read up on the middle east . And I can tell you , everything he has been saying about “ islamic socialism ” and the “ muslim brotherhood ” are ALL documented facts .

Furthermore , the FACT that code-pink has now been linked to two seperate radical islamic groups ( the muslim brotherhood & hamas ) only lends more credibility to his position . Now if that is what y’all call “ entertainment ” then I implore you to do your own research ( haven’t I heard that before ?) for your opinions on the middle east and the role the wacko left is playing in it’s melt down .

Glenn is a excelant source of information for one’s own researching abilitys! Some may call him an “ entertainer ” , I am not one of those fools . If I could fold his big , pudgy butt up and stick him in my backpack I would ! READ UP people , the end is nigh !

And yet despite that, he manages to get his own little show on MSNBC. His little show starts failing and he becomes totally unglued on air and no one stops him from making a complete fool of himself. I think someone should show a little compassion over there and set up an intervention with a psychologist and plastic surgeon. Poor little guy…..

I find it extremely ironic that Fox News reports the news, and MSNBC reports on what Fox has to say about it rather than the news. Liberalism is really on it’s last legs when, rather than doing it’s job, spends all of its time obsessing over Fox News. Rachel Madcow should stick to reporting facts, but she has never met a fact that she couldn’t change to suit her agenda.

That may be the most intellegent segment I have ever seen by Maddow. As usual, she didn’t attempt to argue any points made and used out-of-context snippets, but on the other hand, opening her mouth about her opinions on this issue would have exposed her as not having a freaking clue. Keep setting the bar low, Rachel – you’ll always have a prime-time spot at MSNBC.

Beck is right about the caliphate thing. I’ve seen this coming for years, since the 60s at least. Francis Scott Piven is a card carrying member of the pro-caliphate SOB (Sisters of the Brotherhood) since June of 69, when she was seen having coffee with a Muslim woman. It’s a documented fact that Soros is a member of WTF (Worldwide Theocratic Fellowship), joining the organization in September of 1981. Both are practicing IMOs (International Muslim Organization) and STDs (Sharia Theocracy of Dakota).

Behind the scenes these puppet masters are masterfully guiding the insurrection, which will engulf the middle east, then Europe then the United States in a world wide caliphate, otherwise knows as a new world government, in 2012, just as the Mayans predicted.

      @ JACKKEMO

      I’m with you.

I’m not a history major, more as a hobby (for more years than I care to admit to) . I discovered an interesting thing while researching something Glenn referred to yesterday on his radio program. While they were discussing about the Somali pirates, he mentions about the monument in Annapolis so I looked it up and found it referred to the First and Second Barbary wars – against MUSLIM pirates no less. What I ran across was something that first raised my eyebrows and then, as its implications sunk in, gave me that “oh, holy crap” feeling. Everyone, just do a google search on the First Barbary war and read the Wikipedia article (it has footnotes that check out, so it’s legit). Halfway down the article references the experience that Thomas Jefferson had in dealing with the Tripoli ambassador.
(see “American Peace Commissioners to John Jay,” March 28, 1786, “Thomas Jefferson Papers,” Series 1. General Correspondence. 1651-1827, Library of Congress. LoC: March 28, 1786.)

According to that source, Jefferson asks the ambassador “concerning the ground of the pretensions to make war upon nations who had done them no injury”, referring to their taking American ships. Wherein the reply was, “It was written in their Qu’ran, that all nations which had not acknowledged the Prophet were sinners, whom it was the right and duty of the faithful to plunder and enslave; and that every Muslim who was slain in this warfare was sure to go to paradise.”

Now I remember reading this some years back, and I never truly understood the implications then. I do now. This was said in 1795. It displays a mindset that goes all the way to the beginning of Islam, and is chilling in its implications. that “right and duty of the faithful to plunder and enslave” sinners gives full license to do just about anything. There’s no bargaining with it, there’s no reasoning with it, there’s no such thing as compromise – bluntly put, you‘re toast if you’re a sinner – and that’s us in their fanatical minds. IMHO, THIS is the point Beck wants us to get by looking into the subject of Caliphate

Racheal, at least they are trying to figure out what is going on. You, on the other hand, only ridicule others. You give no information about what is happening in the world today. Each religion has, in the past, and continue today to have a drive to expand their presence in the world. A quick search of the web finds a good number of influential muslim leaders having stated their desire for their religion to spread across the globe.

Will you go on television after thousands of jewish people are killed by muslims and apologize? Just as it was before World War II hatred is building for those of the Jewish faith. More and more of the residents of Egypt are going on camera and expressing their hatred for Isreal. We can not foresee the future but we should learn from the past. There is a good possibility that the peace Egypt has shared with Isreal for many years could end. What will it take for you to open your eyes and do some real reporting?

You got me all wrong. I agree with his opinion of Beck. Some of the ‘facts’ he quotes were new to me and I seriously wanted to know where he got the other information so I can add it to my library. Like Beck exhorts us to do all the time “check it out for yourself”. I‘m not one of those that gets blown about by every wind of ’opinion’. I have family who’s gone liberal over the last few years, and only facts that I have personally corroborated and double-checked are effective in my discussions with them. My request was simply done in an effort to save me some time and effort.

For NEWS you must go down the hall to the left and see Blitzer, Williams, Couric or Sawyer.

Gilda Radner was ahead of her time. She was imitating someone 40 years ahead of her time. She was imitating her even before she was born. Also Gilda nailed Rachel Maddow, just put a wig like that on Rachel Maddow. Oh yeah, Rachel Maddow would rather look like a man. ooops!

fox’s ratings are good BECAUSE its entertaining. regular news is boring. more people watch when you saw/do ridiculous things. see beck, maddow, hannity, ed, etc.

you know what else gets good ratings? american idol. doesn’t make the music good.

Sean, Bill O, Greta, and Glenn are not newscaster or reporters, They offer their opinions of the news. That is more than any of the “personalities” at MSNBC do. It seems to me that they are too busy ridiculing, Fox and it’s personalities as well as Republicans and the Tea Party. They do not counter the opinions of those they disagree with using factual arguments and logic to state their cases, they just trash the opposition in their cute, insulting way. MSNBC could have been a great news and opinion outlet, but it’s not! That might serve to explain their ratings.

I think what people tend to confuse is “News” and “Talk Show Hosts”.
MSNBC / FOX NEWS / CNN all provide News Coverage. They also provide Talk Shows.
Hannity is no more the News than Rachel Maddow is the News. Both have their agenda.
I think they the “Left” tries to insinuate that Fox News is not the News because of Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck and Bill O’Reilly. However, they fail to apply the same standards to MSNBC when it comes to Keith Olbermann, Rachel Maddow, Chris Matthews or Lawrence O’Donnell. None of these “Talk Show Hosts” are the News either. Again, they have an agenda.

And if you notice, Olbermann, Maddow, Matthews and O’Donnell spend half their shows attacking Hannity, O’Reilly and Beck. They feel the need to demonize them because otherwise they cannot compete against them. So their strategy is to try and discredit their opposition.
Maybe they need to pay more attention to their horrific ratings and less time on Beck, Hannity and O’Reilly.

      @conservativeone:
You are close…. The problem with your summary is that MSNBC has no news hosts. For example, on Election Night, MSNBC only had one table that Olberrman, Maddow, Matthews and 2 other analysts on the table. No other people were included in the Broadcast.

Foxnews had an anchor desk. A separate table existed for the analysts including Hannity, Rove and others. O‘Reilly wasn’t on the coverage that night at all nor was Beck.

How will these folks at MSNBC explain to their viewers when all these truths manifest that they spent their time mocking the bell ringer instead of helping their viewers to prepare.
MSNBC will lose all their viewers.
The Liberal news have put themselve in a box. They have potrayed the conservative as loons. Anytime the conservative report anything the lib media automatically will not cover it. If they do, they look like the agree with Fox. If the dont and it comes true it looks like they are clueless. They will lose.

Mad Maddow’s attitude is typical. When Ignaz Semmelweiss and Louis Pasteur demanded hand washing in hospitals, they became a laughingstock among their esteemed colleagues. Semmelweiss died as a result of their rejection of the need for hygiene. It was a life and death matter that was ignored by those who refused to do the research. Can we possibly expect more from the lame stream media?
