Service With a Smile: FedEx Worker Caught on Tape Tossing Package Over Fence

Note to self: maybe I shouldn’t have ordered those Fabergé eggs online.
A FedEx delivery driver has been caught on closed circuit television throwing what appears to be a computer monitor over a fence. Why he didn‘t take it to the front door is anyone’s guess.
“FedEx has vowed to track down the worker, who can be seen strolling casually up to the railings before his less-than-special delivery of the Samsung branded box,” reports Yahoo! News.
[A quick aside: to hear a major company responsible for shipping and delivering literally millions of dollars worth of merchandise say that it has to "track down" one of its own employees doesn't inspire a lot of confidence.]
Although it is currently unknown how the company plans on responding to the employee’s behavior, a FedEx spokeswoman hinted that it wouldn’t be good.
“This won’t be his best day,” she warned.
The YouTube user who uploaded the clip, gooble55, wrote in the description of the video: “The sad part is that I was home at the time with the front door wide open. All he would have had to do was ring the bell on the gate.”
“Now I have to return my monitor since it is broken,” the YouTube user added.
We may be way off on this, but judging by the distance he gets with that box, and his decision to throw it without even a moment’s hesitation, we are fairly certain he used to be an airport baggage handler.
Everything I thought I knew about FedEx employees was a lie.

Posted on December 22, 2011 at 6:45amUPS isn’t much better. I ordered vacuum cleaner belts. Waited and waited and they never came. I had gone on vacation to see my mom over the period of time. Finally called the vaccuum company (Orek) and they said no problem, we’ll send them out again, but by the way, here’s the tracking number. I looked it up, and it said it was left at “other,” meaning, not the front door or back door. So I started searching. They stuffed this itty bitty envelope, that would have fit between my screen door and front door, under a hedge in my front yard. Like I always look there for my packages. I called Orek back to say I found it and they said don’t worry, we already processed the order (man that was fast) and to just keep both sets. Orek is an example of how to keep people coming back. I thought UPS and FedEx were in competition with USPS?

Posted on December 22, 2011 at 1:27pmIf only people could know the real world of fed Ex. In the video, this is an example of a company driver on the express side of Fed ex. Take the many instances of the contractor for Ground & Home Delivery who have their business destroyed and the lively hood of their employees for doing the right thing, protecting the shipper, Fed Ex and their own company only to have a contract pulled under the disguise of “honesty and integrity.” Slavery ended in 1863, but not in the world of contract Fed Ex.
1) Twelve + hr days and fudge the DOT regulations.
2) Over dispatch the route, blame the driver for not moving fast enough.
3) Buy their insurance program (which they profit from).
4) Settlement statements that cannot be tracked with accuracy.
5) Micro Manage every aspect of the contractors business.
6) Challenge the company — Loose the contract — Spell Bankruptcy.
Honesty and Integrity ???

Posted on December 23, 2011 at 4:19amYou dingles crack me up. I work at a company of about 30 people. Sometimes you just get a bad employee. It isn’t a statement about the company in general. As the shipping decision maker in my office, I’ve preferred Fedex for years because they have the best record. When Fedex has screwed up, they’ve made it up to me with great customer service. UPS is terrible, on both reliability and customer service. The USPS is not even worth considering or talking about.

Report Post »JustPeachy
Posted on December 21, 2011 at 5:31pmThis isn’t rocket science. Ringing the doorbell would have been a great option (seeing the house owner said his front door was WIDE OPEN indicating it would be pretty likely for someone to be home!) and/or then leaving a note for the recipient to pick up the package or indicating he’d try to deliver it the next day are options. And I’ve never worked for FedEx or any other package delivery service and I figured that out! Imagine that.

My Fed Ex guys sucks and obviously hates my soul–couldn’t deliver a package on time if it killed him. Likes to just toss what ever is in a polymailer onto my patio with no reguard to what it could be instead of walking a few feet to the house. I do a lot of online ordering, I always try and get out of FedEx but before I moved I had no problems with them.

Posted on December 21, 2011 at 9:12pmI take exception to that. I receive over 2,000 packages a year and on average one or two are UPS or Fedex, and then only when the item is available no other way and is a must have purchase. All of the rest are USPS. Never once have I received damaged parts in the mail. Seldom are there even dents in the cardboard boxes. Most are fragile glass tubes or LCD displays or similarly fragile electronic and scientific items. UPS and Fedex are such a pain (I have to be there or track them down), and yes they have broken many things sent to me over the years. Not to mention the boxes almost always look very rough. The timing problems as opposed to a locked PO box I can go to over a large time span at my convenience combined with the other twos tendency to just leave a box by the door outside when I am missed if the value is under a hundred convince me the USPS is the worlds best delivery service. I even pick and choose sellers based upon whether they refuse to use mail over the other two services. I will admit while they were around DHL’s service and care did impress me. I have never needed to make a claim from any of the usually fragile deliveries I have received in the mail and the total is well over 50 thousand in the last 50 years.

“if it was the usps–he would get a promotion”
I will provide an example. My mom’s refrigerated insulin delivery was set on top a car next door in the Arizona sun in July. I learned about it a day later as she had not run out yet on the day of delivery. The box was still sitting there when I went around asking if anyone had received my delivery on the following day. At that time there was no internet to easily track packages and calling them was next to impossible. Next a rare fragile (well marked as such) antique radio was in a box that look like it had dropped 50 feet. Inside were shards of wood where the power transformer had been torn loose from a steel chassis and actually bounced around inside splintering the wooden case. Both examples were UPS. I have many more. As to Fedex I have never had bad service but as stated in my other reply I try to only use mail if at all possible.

Posted on December 21, 2011 at 5:07pmFriend of mine bought a turducken once for his mom and had it shipped to her. UPS/FedEx (not sure which) tossed it over the fence on the side yard, instead of setting it on the front porch. They found the box in shreds later that day. (his mom had several dogs and a rather large cat)
Today we’re sitting by our front door with the door open so we can see the delivery guys coming. They‘ve still managed to sneak up when our heads are turned and there’s a “plop!” of a box on the patio, and then they’re gone before we can even react.

Posted on December 21, 2011 at 10:23pmMaybe you shouldn’t put a 6 foot tall spiked fence around your home and then expect people to deliver packages to your door. Like anyone has the time to try to page you while you are in the shower to open the gate. Here’s a thought, maybe you should have bought that Samsung monitor at your local store for the same price and not risked a rough delivery service. And to anyone who thinks that that computer monitor didn’t take any harder falls, you’ve got to be out of your mind. These packages get thrown onto conveyor belts and shifted in trucks more than you can imagine.
My bet is that this guy has had a run in with the owner of this home before and is tired of dealing with her. I’m willing to place my bet that it is a female.
